Uber Eats through Prime is mainly a delivery fee waiver for restaurant orders of $25 or more, activated through Amazon.com/UberEats and limited to the Amazon Uber Eats storefront. It can work well for pickup too, with the promo and fee removal showing up there, and the app tile leads straight into an order page. The main catches are high service fees, marked up menu prices, no Uber One style savings, and no gift card stacking. It also ends if Prime is paused or canceled, making it a narrow convenience perk rather than a full Uber Eats replacement.

  • Pickup diners ordering $25+ meals, because the delivery fee can drop to zero and the pickup service fee can also disappear.

  • People who want a quick checkout path in the browser, because linking the benefit can take them straight to an order-ready page.

  • Small-order diners using the introductory discount, because the $20 off can make a modest cart cheaper than paying full app pricing.

  • People expecting the same savings as a full membership, because the benefit does not reduce service fees and can leave only a small delivery-fee saving.

  • Restaurant comparison shoppers, because menu prices can run 15% to 50% higher than ordering directly.

  • People who rely on the regular app for all merchants, because the benefit is limited to Amazon's Uber Eats storefront and can exclude Costco.

  • Gift-card stackers, because the checkout path can require Amazon Pay and may not accept Uber gift cards.

The prices are 30-50% higher than if I go to the restaurant myself so who cares if they waive the delivery fee

I use UberEats with One quite a lot for delivery because I'm in a remote-ish part of town. I also tip well. My experience so far has been outstanding. Sure, it costs more than picking up at the restaurant, but I save 40-90+ minutes of my own time, which is extremely valuable to me.

OK, TLDR, that Amazon offer is not good if you already have Uber One. At first I was excited: "Hey Amazon is going to pay for my Uber One membership!" NOPE.

FYI this is replacing the free GrubHub+
Really? Then this is a big downgrade. When does grubhub plus go away?

This "benefit" sucks. My order with Grubhub today (I always create cart with Uber, Grubhub and DoorDash and pick the cheapest for that order. Today I used this instead of Uber One to compare) was CHEAPER than this benefit with $20 off. The service fee was $12 alone, and there was no discount on the food.

Amazon is constantly watering down their offerings while upping the prices. Gotta take care of the shareholder, I know, but if they keep screwing their customers they'll lose both.

What a great company Amazon was once. It's just sad to see what they've become. It's like Google going from their slogan of "do no evil" to dropping the slogan and becoming Evil Inc.
It all depends how you use this. If you have Uber One and a very lucrative promo in your regular Uber Eats account then indeed the same offer may be cheaper than with this offer. However, that's generally not going to be the case with smaller orders. I ordered $28 worth of food (that would have been $23 in-restaurant) that came to $40 with Service Fee and tip added. This offer took $20 off. Therefore, I paid $20 for food that would have cost me $23 to pick up without using an app. Using my regular Uber Eats account would have run me about $30 even with a promo applied.
