It has a unique status of a netflix animated original going global. I think of it as kinda of special like Wall E. Besides in this day and age of dying physical media we should all celebrate any physical release as long as it is a good transfer no matter the publisher.

I picked up a copy from B&N yesterday for my 11 year old. He loves having physical copies. Please support your local B&N instead of Amazon.

I didn't even like this movie that much, but I'm so glad that its getting a Criterion release! It is undeniably of "cultural significance" like the rest of the collection.

The movie also represented something of a breakthrough in Western countries for Asian artists. It introduced K-Pop music to a lot of people unfamiliar with it. Just last week, I saw two males bicycling down the street blasting "Golden". One is an adult, the other is a preteen or tween, and they're not Asian. 😎

Anyway, I ordered a copy. I'm far from being a kid, but I enjoy the movie and the soundtrack, and I just love the blue tiger with OCD.
