That's not the refurbished price, that's the class C - scratch & dent price. Refurb price is $10 more, making this a non-deal.

Ordered one of the 32gb last sale and it ended up being the Kindle Fire Plus.

I have one. For $30, it's a very respectable media streamer and homelab remote as long as you're willing to jump though the hoops of getting the play store on it. You just have to know what you're getting into.

Does the Fire Tool thing still work? I read some newer firmwares are preventing that tool from debloating the OS and adding the Google Play Store. I have one and agree with what you said, but only if you are able to use the tool that worked in the past. Otherwise, this is 100% E-waste.

Good prices. Bought the Slate on a Woot sale. The Slate is the upgraded model with more RAM I think. Been a fan of these for since the original Kindle Fire. Just know you are part of the Amazon structure without other tablet capabilities. Once you understand that, for the most part they work well. We use them for videos from various sources while travelling.

Down side pet peeve, the Wall Street Journal app has not worked on this for months even though it used to and is supposed to be supported. Used to read daily on it.

I did as well and then bought the Wireless Charging Dock for Fire HD 10 Plus; use it everyday and would buy again especially for this price.

I picked up a S&D one about a month ago from woot for $25.50 before tax, and it was almost flawless. Fire Tool did seem to work on it, though I didn't mess around too much with it. My needs are pretty basic. I just wanted a Home Assistant display/controller and this works just great for that. I'm invested in the Amazon ecosystem, so many of the amazon apps were fine with me, though I used Fire Tool to remove some of them. I guess I must have removed lockscreen ads in the process of messing with Fire Tool, because I don't have any.
