Every single thing about this sign offends me--now it can offend other people! Pic #80!

My HOA put up this little gem over the weekend near the entrance to our development (facing in, so you see it as you drive out).

1. This is a brand-new sign. They have never used a sign of this type in the 7 years I've lived in this house, so I feel safe in the assumption that my HOA has spent some portion of my fees on this idiocy.
2. Text-speak. "B4" may be a space-saving, cute attempt at abbreviation, but it has no place on a sign you expect me to take seriously, ever, period.
3. What the farking fark? Seriously, what the fark? What if I work evenings and have to put out my trash at, oh, 2pm instead of waiting until after 6pm? Why is that a problem? Why can't we go after the people who put their trash out in bags instead of cans/bins so that the crows & squirrels have a chance to rip them apart overnight and leave a huge mess the garbage collectors refuse to pick up? "REMINDER: TRASH GOES IN BINS NOT IN BAGS" would fit on that sign just fine and you wouldn't even have to use "B4" either!
4. Who decided on 6pm? It's not dark at 6pm (somewhere in our HOA docs, apparently, there is some kind of language advising homeowners not to put their trash out before dark). Open houses end at 4pm. If you want to argue that it makes the neighborhood less attractive to potential buyers why not say we have to wait until the morning of the collection?
Next they'll be foreclosing on a serviceman's house [npr.org] while he's in Afghanistan because he missed a couple of months' dues.
GodDAMN I hate HOAs.

It's not unusual for an association to restrict when you can put out trash, though I've never seen a sign about it. I assume 6:00 pm is established so that it's after many people are home from work and won't see the "hideous" trash cans. And they probably don't want to have to change the time during other parts of the year.
Then there are the rednecks up the circle a bit who routinely put out appliances but don't call for a pickup... so the washer/dryer/dishwasher/oven/etc. sits there for days...

Ok, that second sentence is a lie.
A main factor in choosing the house I just bought was that there isn't an HOA.

Last month we got a nasty letter from the HOA bitching about a wheelchair that's behind our neighbor's fence. We ignored it & they sent another one threatening to fine us daily, AND retroactively, if we didn't remove it or tell them who was responsible for its removal.
I'm like, how about you come ASK ME when you see me watering my peppers in the evenings? Or is that not passive-aggressive enough for you?
Oh, and VQ needs to post pics of the sign after he changes it.
