I didn't even know there were Kindle fanboys
I would hope you can't break the law period, much less for 18 months

I use both
I swap out my inkjets as they come in..it's cheaper than buying ink!!
My next one was even better..has one of those little LCD displays and print on CDs too! Cost me about $15 shipped directly from HP themselves, right to my doorstep. Overnight via Fedex too
And after I use that one up, the NX415 (it's an AIO) cost me $20 shipped to my door. Haven't had an Epson in years honestly
The only thing I buy refills for is the Samsung B&W laser. I will never get rid of it. It has not bitched, or complained, or failed over the thousands of pages I have printed with it. And OEM carts are about $15..so it's cheap. I only have to do it about once a year.
My inkjets that print color just go through a revolving cycle of being recycled. I never have the same inkjet for more than 2 years I think (my OJ 8000 has been amazing actually..it's only now just starting to run low on black...almost a full year of use! That's never happened with a HP before with me
I'll recycle this one when HP gives me another $50
I figure if I'm about to spend $40 or so for ink, I should evaluate all my options. I usually get almost 200 pages on an ink cartridge, but this last one hasn't even hit 150 and I'm already at a "low ink" warning. Plus, I can't get the damn thing to print right any more- I get paper misfeeds more often than not, which leads to wasted ink and paper.
I'm beginning to compare the cost of a new laser printer (I picked the Samsung ML 1665, the ML-2525, and the Brother HL-2140, all about $60ish right now) to my current printer. I figure the magical number is about 700 pages. Considering I printed almost 200 pages for my 2 summer classes, 700 pages might be possible to get in one semester.
Like I said, I usually can get minimum 200 pages on a single ink cartridge. This is the first time it's been this noticeable that the "low ink" thing popped up way early. Usually it's "low ink" with like 15 pages left maybe, which would mean I'd get less than 170 pages off this cartridge.

I went ahead and just printed a diagnostic on my Samsung (I love how honest my Samsung is..my HPs won't tell me jack about this so it won't say how much freaking ink I'm wasting..)
I've printed a total of 1,569 pages of it since I got it back in August '08 for $40 from NewEgg. It says my current toner page count is at 802. The original starter cart. was supposed to last for 1,000 pages so it seems I might have gotten jipped from that.. not sure since this cart I refilled and it saying I have a 3,000 page capacity on this one
Anyway...it's been great.I think you should go for the Samsung. Just make sure you find an SD on it. I would never pay more than $50 for a B&W laser..

$140+ for new?
I think it has a high value for my specific one because the carts are so cheap to replace. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb...ds=
I checked out your ML-2525 and it seems that they aren't as easy to replace or make because I can't find one for under $50
I suggest trying to find a printer that has cheap replaceable carts. Or maybe an old ML-2010/ML-2510 (they use the same carts.). They're rare nowadays but you might be able to find some idiot that will sell it for cheap
Have fun printer shopping!!
I'm just starting to look, and am not going to run out and purchase one tomorrow or anything. Earliest I can buy one is about Labor Day (yeah
I'm looking for a good quality printer, for under say $75 shipped, that can print hopefully 750 pages on the starter (higher is better, of course) and hopefully 2000+ on the other toner (2000 seems to be the bare minimum, it's mostly 2500).
I found the Samsung 1665 at TigerDirect for $50. They charge like $10 to ship and then sales tax on the shipping for FL, so it's almost $70 after everything... which is like $9 off the regular price.
