Nono

Apple cannot compete with the e-ink technology - reading a backlit screen for hours? Thumbdown
i've read ~ 4k of normal pages in a kindle/ibook version on the iphone/touch (especially since i can get free ibook stuff). add in all the other things i can do, the change in e-ink v backlight is minimal. i never had an issue. add in a read a lot in bed before i go to sleep. try reading your e-ink without the lights on

laugh out loud Don't get me started. You can go check out the thread in Hot Deals if you want to see how me and a few other dozen SDers owned an iPad fanboy in the Kindle pre-order thread laugh out loud (I think he was trolling though..there's no way you can be that obnoxious laugh out loud)
LMAO

they have 0 wifi's. WTF. farking apple. took about 20 minutes in the store before they figured it out.

and 10 min on the phone to figure out the other one didn't have it.

apple. have items on shelves. or tickets. let us go up to a place and buy them. not wait 10 min for a specialist. then have them place the order and wait till someone tells them they're out.
Oh yeah..forgot you lived in Sandy Ego too laugh out loud

iPads have been rare these days. but like I said..two bestbuys have the 32GB one if you really want it Big Grin

yeah, but i hate apple with a passion Stick Out Tongue. i'd gladly use alternatives if i could. many of my accessories i bought off monoprice for a fraction of the price. companies are more likely to make an iphone app then android. cars and other manufacturers are more likely to make ipod docks than a dual android/ipod dock.

It is EXTREMELY easy to read in sunlight. It's awesome bounce

Darkness...eh...well I think I told Mal that was one of my issues. You'll need a light source of some kind since they don't have a backlight.

As long as you're not like me and try to do some midnight reading with a flashlight...then you should be fine laugh out loud

Books are VERY easy to find (free). You can use mobile Gutenberg to get books right from the web browser...or use many of the other sources shown here (there are others..most popular ones listed by Amazon..)

New discussion:

I'm on vacation. Give me some good cocktails to try out. I have found that I especially enjoy sour drinks; I recently discovered amaretto sours and am in love. Whiskey or tequila are my preferred mixers. Maybe rum.

tl;dr - Give me some good drinks.

In sunlight, absolutely - in the dark, you'll need a book light.

Oh yeah, sitting in total darkness and reading a backlit screen I'm sure is GREAT for your eyes. LMAO

Yeah, I have a booklight for mine, and it works just fine - I love it, doesn't strain my eyes like something with a backlight would. Smilie

laugh out loud I've been testing android on my phone for a while (week or so) and love it. I was also dealing with my gf's iPod Touch and also saw many of the apps. I don't hate Apple per say...I miss my iPod Touch...but I think there are a lot of apps available from Android. I haven't been able to find an app lately that wasn't available on android and was an iOS exclusive.

As for the car dock thing..durr. It's called bluetooth. I don't think anyone has made an android app since there are several hardware choices.

thanks for the answers...i think the ipad is pretty cool, but am waiting to see what version 2.0 is like (i assume they'll use the same form factor, but make the screen bigger, device lighter, etc)

Dontknow i can read it on the touch/iphone without my glasses, without squinting without it being closer than a real book. i have no eye fatigue. and you think after serious reading.. if that's going to happen it'd happen. has anyone else spent a significant amount reading on an apple device and just said i can't do this anymore?

I kind of want to get one of these for it:

http://www.amazon.com/Kandle-Amaz...614&sr=8-2

But really, I don't mind having my nightstand light on when I'm reading in bed at night - it gives off plenty of light. That would be an extra purchase, especially since I have a couple other perfectly usable book lights... Evillaugh

It's just so cute!

Oh yeah, and I got like 100 free books from Amazon - LOTS of classic literature. And the classic literature that isn't free is usually like 99 cents. Smilie
