I bought the US version of a textbook. Could have bought the international for half the price. What did I get in the mail? The international version. Scratched out ISBN and address labels all over the words International Edition. How stupid would someone have to be not to realize it's International? Now, to get the US Edition, I have to pay $30 more than I would have had to pay 2 weeks ago. So super annoyed.
I'm surprised that Amazon didn't care that the seller listed the wrong edition. I thought they had good CS.
And yeah... that sucks.
Is the only difference between international and US, is that international is toilet paper thin?
And yeah... that sucks.
The seller responded asking me to ship it back. I have nothing to ship it back in and I don't feel obligated to go to the store and buy something. (The original envelope is torn and unshippable.) I'm trying so hard not to be unreasonable, but I'm so annoyed. I don't want to pay return shipping, have to buy another envelope and wait to be refunded when they get it back via media mail.
If you can figure out how to squeeze a nickel and get $2.00, you can figure out a camera.

If you've been on Slickdeals long enough, you've probably seen lots of threads that mention DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. For the uninitiated, think of firmware as the operating system - Windows for example - for the router. And just like a computer can run poorly with the wrong or bad operating system, it's also true of a router - which in essence is just a very specialized kind of computer. What does that translate to? No more "resetting the router" to get things to work. Or complicated work-arounds. Things just work!
Of those two choices, Tomato is the more user-friendly option of the two, where things "just work" out of the box. Both really do make a huge difference in stability and performance and offer a lot of features to both the casual user as well as the enthusiast.
Unfortunately, not all router hardware is supported by Tomato. So you have to buy selectively both by manufacturer and model. It also means you'd be "flashing the firmware" which does involve a technical step or two - but nothing beyond the "download this link", "click here", and "type this" sort of technical expertise.
There are usually lots of deals for Tomato compatible routers though these days for both 802.11g and 802.11n.
This link will pull up relevant threads [snurl.com] from Hot Deals and will probably be the easiest way for the less than savvy to determine if a specific make and model of router supports Tomato.
Good deals are usually around $20 to $30. Most of the models in that price range will be Asus brand.
I'd be glad to offer any additional additional help/advice/troubleshooting to jenni or anyone else who might need. Either here in the thread or via PM at your choice.

tomato is a replacement "windows" for the actual router.
I'm a big fan of Linksys routers...and usually they do a good job...but for the tech savvy, swapping out the onboard software with tomato or DDWRT is a good and cool thing.
(Or I need to convince my parents they need the matching dishwasher for their new set
If he has questions or needs help and doesn't want to go "through a middle man/woman", you can PM his e-mail address and we can talk geek to geek.
Also I did a few edits to that post (including changing the URL so it would be more precise) so what you copied and pasted might not be my final thoughts so to speak. I'm old so sometime it takes a few drafts to get things right.

It's getting harder and harder to find cheap Linksys/Cisco hardware these days though.
And then the hoops one has to jump through to get DD-WRT/Tomato onto some of the newer/cheaper model Linksys router can be a hassle.
I'm old so I try not to do hassles anymore!
