After a Co-Worker told me how he got his for free. I tried the same thing and low and behold, I now have a Network Extender and no extra cost. It takes about 1-2 weeks for everything to go through.

Cell phone service with Verizon Required. (Thats the purpose of the extender, to improve your cell reception with Verizon within your home)
High Speed Internet Connection Required. (Does not have to be through Verizon)

If you don't have good Verizon coverage within your home, follow these steps.

1. Fill out the survey. Here [verizonwireless.com] (This site tends to go offline a lot, keep trying). I think it grabs the cookies from your VerizonWireless.com account, because I remember not having to sign in and wondering "how do they know who I was". But no worries. Follow the next step.
2. You will recieve a phone call from your local store manager, referencing the survey and wanting to know how he can make your experience better.
3. Tell him you are dropping calls all the time within your home and you are tired of going outside all the time.
4.Tell him you don't feel you should have to pay more money on top of your already expensive monthly charges to use a service you ALREADY pay for.
5.The manager will (as I understand, this is protocol) consult technicians in the local area to see if there are network difficulties affecting your area.
6. You will get another phone call later on. Mine was about 12 days later because he went on vacation.
7. He confirmed there were no network difficulties in my area and that they would have a Network Extender waiting for me at my local Verizon store.
8. Go in, give them your cell number. Pick up your extender.
9. Enjoy!!!!

Worked for 3 of us so far.

Well, 2 of us physically have ours, 3rd one is still awaiting the "No network difficulties" confirmation so he can go in and get his.

Site appears to be down temporarily again. Frown

It will probably be back up in the morning. It seems to go down quite often.

I figured it was implied that this was for those of us without good coverage inside our homes.

People are already voting TD for unable to replicate deal....

Wait at least 48 hours after you take the survey before you vote, it DOES work.

Too bad I didn't know about this a couple months ago. I paid $99 for one thru Verizon phone CSR after multiple calls trying to get it for free.

Good find for those on Verizon. But giving Verizon's ridiculously strong network coverage, is this really necessary?

I believe this unit only handles data at the non-3G speeds.

This shouldn't be an issue anyway for most people because this device uses your own internet connection to transmit the calls. It's not a repeater, it just makes a little cell phone network in your house. If you're at home with one of these, it's pretty much assured you're going to have a wifi connection for your smart phone too.

Anyway, I own one of these. It works great, but the device is pretty basic. Oh, and it has a GPS antenna on a cord to make sure your aren't bringing this to Canada or something and using the internet connection for your out of country phone calls. Anyway, it has to be within 15 feet or so of a window to get a GPS signal so you couldn't typically put this in the middle of your house.

I hate this extender. So I live in an area with very spotty verizon coverage. T-mobile and ATT are fine but of course Verizon sucks and we just went from T-mobile to Verizon.

Issues: Every time you enter/leave the area covered by the extender you drop your call. This is very annoying. So I work from home and if I am on a business call while I am leaving the house I drop the call. When I am talking to my wife while she is on the way home from work she drops her call when she gets to the house.

Sometimes messages go through and sometimes they don't. text/picture.

I got my extender for free about 4 months ago when we moved into our new home. I told Verizon I was just going to leave and they offered me the extender. I tried it but it has been more trouble than it is worth.

I hate to leave Verizon because I get service everywhere I go for business but everyday I have to deal with dropped calls and it is just not worth it. The final straw was the other night I was away on business and called my wife. She was on the other side of the house and was getting poor reception. I mean actually on the network in the house and still getting poor reception. My house is only 2100 sqft and I have the extender in my office on one side and the master bedroom is on the other side of the house.

Plus this is through the internet. When power goes out you are screwed.

I hope the rest of you have a better experience but I was never told that calls would drop going between the extender and the regular towers.
