I'm disappointed. I got up real early (I left the house before 5) this morning to go recycle bin diving, as it was supposed to be 100 degrees here today (heat index of 108). I came home with flyers, but not THE ONE I was looking for.
Publix had Finish 32 ct tabs on BOGO (ours are half off) a week ago and I got rain checks for the trainee, but I didn't know the Q expires tomorrow. Found 6 of them yesterday, but that only filled one of the rain checks. I can't decide if I'm gonna mow in the morning, or dumpster dive for the trainee
Suddenly I became interested in their conversation. When it was my turn I said "so what's wrong with the register?" He said "they are trying to do a software update but it isn't working. It's crashed four registers so far."
How unfortunate.
tn_native, what are you looking for? Maybe my paper will have it?
There are 4 more trailer type (on wheels) dumpsters I can hit tomorrow, and I'll already be over towards that way for the paper guy anyway.

Overage depends on the cashier really. If you get one that doesn't give a flying flip, you'll probably get overage. If you get one that does care, you won't.
Remember that you can use a Publix or Competitor Q AND an MQ together, but the register will beep and need a manager override if you have more Qs than items. At least in TN and AL, Publix takes Target Web Coupons as a competitor, but each District Manager sets who their competitors are (and not).

The temp here is so hot, my mom, husband, and I decided to go out of town for the weekend, enjoy the breeze by the shore, and stay in an air conditioned hotel. (We have AC at home but no central air, so you sweat bullets every time you leave one room, to go to the bathroom or something). That in addition to the fact that I have an appointment to meet with my surgeon on Monday (to remove a cancerous lymph node that he missed when we did a thyroidectomy on me in December), my family wanted me to get away for the weekend to take my mind off of things. (I'm very nervous and scared). Anyway, I wanted to stop by a Target on our way there, to pick up milk for our 2-year old, crackers, and to use up some coupons that expire at the end of the month. So we went on our way, and stopped by that Target.
My husband turned into Target's parking lot, and drove across the front of the store. Ahead of us, a couple and their baby (in a car seat) crossed/walked from the parking lot to the front of the store. They already crossed the street, and were already walking on the sidewalk/curb (near where the big red ball is) when the husband stopped, walked back, and approached our car. My husband stopped the car, rolled down his window, and asked if he needed help with something. The man yelled at my husband that next time he should look where he is going and stop the car when someone is crossing. My husband said, "I saw you, you already crossed, and you were already on the other side of me"…I forgot what the other guy said next because I was too stunned but they continued to yell at each other back and forth, while my husband continued driving slowly towards the parking lot. The guy's wife yelled, "WHY DON'T YOU COME OUT OF THE CAR!" and we ignored it, and went to find parking. I watched them from the inside of our car the whole time my husband parked, they also watched us the entire time, and didn't enter the store. They stayed at the front of the store for a good couple of minutes while my husband parked, put shoes on our daughter, got her out, etc. Then they finally entered Target, and we waited a few more minutes until it got too hot, that I took our daughter and went first. My mom followed about ten feet after me, and my husband diddy daddled at the car, not coming yet.
I went inside the store, and as I was getting a shopping cart, my eyes scanned the front area to see if they were around. They were not. Mom came in, she took the cart, and then out of nowhere, I see the guy coming from around the dollar spot area/purse area, and advancing towards the front of the store. His eyes were on my husband the whole time, like a lion advancing on its prey. I stood in the area in between the shopping cart, dollar spot, and across guest service. I turned around to see my husband crossing the street, he finished off a bottle of water, and walked across the store to throw it in the trash can (the trash can in front of the exit), then walked back to the entrance, and the guy went right up to him, up to his face, and started again about how he was wrong not to stop while they were crossing the street. My husband isn't a big man, he is 5'5'' and really skinny. The guy was easily over six feet, and big. I started to feel queasy in my stomach. My husband continued to walk into the store, with the guy stopping/blocking him at every step. They both argued back and forth while doing this. The guy was right in his face, pointing his finger at my husband, all while my husband continued to try to walk in the store. They were a little past the shopping cart area, but not quite up to the dollar spot yet, when things got really heated, and my mom ran up to him and started yelling at him to leave her son alone. My mom is not even five feet tall, so in any other situation this would have seemed funny to me, except I was really afraid of the guy. I started to feel even more uneasy because he continued to get angrier and angrier; I bounced my daughter from my left hip to my right side.
Out of nowhere his wife appears, coming from around the dollar spot/purse area, and starts to scream. My mom screamed back at her. They got into a shouting match. My husband put his arm in between my mom and the guy's wife, afraid that she was going to strike at my mom. He told me that he did not touch her at all, but she took this as a green light, and pushed my husband with both her hands. I yelled at her to stop and not to touch him, she yells back at me, "I DIDN'T TOUCH HIM!" while her husband pulled her a couple feet away. I said, "Yes you did" and then she said, "you know what?" and then flipped her middle finger at me. I didn't know what to say to that, I just said, "classy" while she smirked at me.
While all this was happening, two Target team members came up, called for backup, and kept repeating for us to take it outside. The Target TM said, "I don't care what you do to each other, just take it outside" …when the guy's wife repeated over and over that she didn't touch my husband, the older Target TM spoke up and said, "Yes you did. I saw you. I saw the whole thing" I turned to her and thanked her profusely for confirming what she saw. I asked her if she saw the guy come out of nowhere from inside the store, advancing towards my husband with his eyes locked in on him, blocked his every step from coming into the store, etc and she said, "yes, I saw the whole thing"
Four more Target team members show up, one yells at a TM behind the Guest service counter to call the police. By now I knew I would get no coupon shopping done. While we are standing around the guy starts to get angry all over again, talked very loudly for us to hear, and said many things, some of them racial. My mom starts to get angry by his comments, my husband and I tell her to calm down and wait for the police. FIVE police cars arrive! They separate us, a female officer talked to us near Guest services (where the baby registry is) and the lovely couple go outside to talk to the police (at least we were in the air conditioned environment!). I tell the officer what happened, that we entered the store thinking it would be over, not knowing that he would come at us again, and that although she denies pushing my husband, the video camera will show otherwise. She takes both of our IDs, and she asks us if we want to press charges for harassment and assault. I told her my husband isn't hurt or anything, but it's just the fact that she felt like she could do that to him for no reason. They already crossed over to the other side of the street when our car passed them. She said that if we pressed charges for assault, they would most likely press charges against us (for when they crossed the street). While waiting to see what they decided on, the officer and I made small talk. She asked about the scar on my throat (very observant… I guess because she's an officer!) and I told her. She had the same thing done to her, radiation and all. She showed me her scar and we bonded over that. (haha).
Another officer comes in, asks my husband, did he come to a complete and full stop as they were crossing the street. By this time, with all of the commotion and accusations, he's starting to doubt himself, and doesn't know what to say. The officer takes that as a "no" and goes back outside. He wasn't very neutral. More time passes, and two different officers come back and ask us what we want to do, they have decided not to press charges. My husband decides not to press charges, although I was on the fence about it. I didn't want to make it into a bigger problem than it already was, I was already so embarrassed that this happened in public over nothing, but wanted them punished for their behavior, even if it was just a fine. They were so confrontational, very fighty. Especially the wife, right from the start, she yelled at my husband to come out of the car. Geez, these people jumped at a fight over nothing. Five police cars lined up at the entrance of Target over nothing!
The female officer asks if I still want to buy milk and crackers for my daughter before we go, I say yes, and she waits for me by the entrance as I go to grab the two items. While there, I see them again! Shopping and talking to each other like it's any other regular Saturday! I quickly bolted before they saw me, and go to check out with the two items. After I'm done, I see the older Target team member who spoke up for us, and thanked her. She said that she saw him advancing towards my husband, and I apologized that all that happened in the store. She said if it didn't happen in the store, he would have more than likely hit my husband. I agreed, thanked her again, and left.
And I didn't even get to use any coupons!
My DS is turning 13 tomorrow (well, I guess it is today now
Anyway.. did manage to visit a new target.. five guys is an hour away, and my DH found a target with the GPS.. I was so sad because I found so much summer that rang INF.. I didn't try the stainless steel bottles because I felt pretty sure they would just key them in the price marked, but I did get a sky ball and tell them a price and I got it. I found tons of the clearanced mens c9 socks, so I helped myself to a *few*.. with 3 guys in the house, they go through some socks.. otherwise, nothing good really..
I went to 4 krogers this weekend and couldn't find one single pack of crayons.. I guess I waited too late to get in on that deal. I did get 10 packs of cheese but that was it. I have got to get my grocery deals back going. I used up the last of my target GC today and actually had to pay some real money
Dec12 - How are you feeling?
Teri - glad to hear you DS is home and has a nice appetite
Ank - love the food cravings.. makes me hungry reading them sometimes.. and it is so funny how you crave such specific things..
L2BaM - how strange on the "he can have dairy, but no ice cream" and then TAKE HIM TO AN ICE CREAM SHOP! How cruel can you be to little ones
New $1/2 MQ for Lean Cuisine on target.com but
ellarosey - whew! what a day (I'd be scared to set foot back in a target, just because of these folks).
L2BAM, I love 5 guys and have to stay away from there (they are right around the corner from me). Sounds like you all had a good time in spite of the in laws and their schedule
This summer has been so incredibily hot, I'm just counting the days until fall
Teri - must be hard with your son falling.. this should improve with PT? The bread, roast and movies sounds nice though.. And I agree.. SO ready for fall!
MOT2- sorry the weekend hasn't been great
