G'morning.

Just learned that Golden Grahms aren't as good as I would have liked to think. They get too soggy too fast.

I need to get to T. I want some crispy Kale, green peppers, and cantaloupe!

Morning!! Coffee is brewing.. Gotta get this day going Smilie

Yep on the golden grahams, I bought a couple of boxes on my first kroger cereal run last week. DH told me that he didn't like that kind, and my toddler won't eat them probably either. She doesn't like cinnamon toast crunch with milk cause they get soggy and I think the gg are the same way. I only got a few of those.. I stuck mostly with the Trix cereal.. options to get the mega deal and the cat both were so limited.. I think I ended up with about 20 boxes of Trix, about 8 boxes of cookie crisp (which sounds so gross) and a few of the golden grahams.. We really didn't need that much cereal, but I figure I am planning a garage sale soon and I will put some in the sale along with alot of special k and fiber plusLMAO

Ank - you are such a good eater. I am so horrible it's tough to compare. Let's see, last night was PB&J with Doritos (and a few grapes LOL) This morning was a big 'ol bowl of Apple Jacks and I'm thinking lunch will be Steak-n-Shake b/c I'm taking DS to town for an appt. laugh out loud

Somehow, although I don't remember signing up, we were notified that we qualify for a "weatherization" program. I really wasn't sure what that entailed but thought it would be nice for someone to stop the air leaking through our ancient front door. The guy comes to 'audit' the house and says we need a new furnace EEK! And that they will provide one....wha???? Faint

I instantly thought of Teri and her luck with the home warranty people and thought someone else on here had also scored a new furnace - it was so weird when he said it I wanted to ask if he was from TCC and punking me. laugh out loud

*laugh* I have heard of this program with a lot of the electric/gas companies out there. I think it's actually been running for a few years, but definitely becoming more well known and better utilized.

As for being a "good" eater... believe me... I eat EVERYTHING. What I didn't mention is the 1/2 of a 1/2 gallon of ice cream that I ate all by myself last night. I would've also ate some pb&j toast - but got distracted and forgot about it - found it this morning on the table. laugh out loud

I also had dinner last night (tomato, beef, rice bake and salad), and I ate both my piece of pie and finished up DD's piece (which is to say that I basically ate all but 1 bite of pie - that kid is weird and said she didn't like it!!) I had pb&j and apples for lunch, cereal and coffee for breakfast - and I'm pretty sure some kind of snack in between... lol.

So far this morning, all I've had is some coffee and the golden grahms - but I'm sure that will change shortly! Believe me! I eat my fair share of junk... and probably more than my fair share!

I have no idea how to make the HT GM deal a good one. Wondering if you came up with anything?

Also, we've done CEC a lot. Make sure you sign up for the email coupons. Their welcome coupons are the best. I just signed up yet another email address of mine and there is a decent one for a big group: Large 1-topping pizza, medium cheese pizza, 4 drinks and 35 tokens for 29.99. There are also q's for 100 tokens for $15 or 175 for $25.
I'm not sure either. And once I read on hcw or afc that the discount wasn't coming off, I decided to wait until it got fixed. I have all the coupons, just not sure which grouping is the best way to go. And if they're not counting both items in a BOGO deal, that kind of makes it a little more difficult. Still, I might do it once, just to get some Chex Mix and maybe some brownies. And the fruit snacks, for the cat.

I did sign up just yesterday for the email, so hopefully I'll get it shortly. I figure I usually spend at least $100 in food/decorations/etc for a party at home, so if I can keep it well under that, then we'll be ahead.

The Golden Grahams are great dry as a snack, as are the Cookie Crisp. I rarely buy Cookie Crisp, but when I do, the kids love it as their snack.

I have such a buildup of cereal - I've only been selling 8-10 boxes a sale. I think I'm gonna mark them all $1 for my next sale, just to get rid of a bunch and make room for the next batch. Its so easy to get cereal for cheap/free!

OK, today I *must* find gray uniform pants for my little guy for school. laugh out loud That is my mission. Apparently gray is not a normal uniform color, and is somewhat difficult to find.

Also, any thoughts on a good backpack for a kindergartner? I would like to get one that is reasonably sturdy and will last through elementary school. Hubby saw one at UnderArmour for $40 but the SDer in me is sure I can find a comparable one for a better price, and possibly one with a lifetime warranty. Big Grin

I wondered about the dry cereal snack idea... thanks. Smilie I kind of figured it may work out a bit as a good snack.

As for a backpack that lasts - I have never had one that worked that well to last so long. But, maybe I never bought a "good" one either. You may want to consider getting him a smaller than normal sized back pack for his first year or two. Seems like a lot of the "normal sized" ones would be too big for a kindergartener/first grader.

Good luck on finding the gray pants. I haven't seen anything but black and navy!

Yeah, size is a problem. And honestly, how much is he really going to need to carry in his backpack, anyway? Its only half-day kindergarten, so no lunch box. They don't bring work home. Unless maybe he brings his papers home to show mom and dad.

I did find a listing on ebay for 3 pairs for $40, free shipping. Brand new. Cheaper than the other sites and cheaper definitely than Flynn & O'Hara, which is who our school uses. Yay for one more item off the list!! Big Grin

Flugette, I've had great luck with the L.L.Bean backpacks. We still have rolling backpacks I bought in 2004, look great. Most character backpacks tend to fail quickly, some within 2 weeks. Frown Jansport has a good warranty, as does Lands' End. Check out the sale/ overstocks sections at L.L.Bean and Lands' End. August 2010 Parents magazine has a $10/$50 and free shipping coupon for Lands' End, and I just checked- they have gray chinos. There are a few backpacks under $30 and the site is advertising 40% off select items (the big promo page is for back to school so I'm going to guess the uniform pants are $25.50 and then 40% off).

code SELECT40 pin 1031 expires tonight 8/19

Thanks for that info! I was actually just researching the LLBean backpacks, and I think that's what we're going to go with. They have all backpacks 20% off, both in store and online, and I realized that we have a store about 20 mins away. I have been so disgusted with the quality of bags at Target/Walmart/etc - cheapest ones are like $10 and look like they'll fall apart in a month. The junior backpacks at LLBean are only $18.xx and have the lifetime warranty. And our school doesn't allow character bags or character anything, so that narrows it down quite a bit. And incidently, makes it much less interesting of a choice for Jaden. Big Grin

Thanks again for that info, though! Appreciate it!!

They will! I bought some on clearance last year thinking they'd be good for the gym. What a waste. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I actually got a duffle & a backpack at K about year & 1/2 ago for DD/DH that has held up really well - but I don't remember the brands. I want to say jansport - but I'll have to go look and check.

Oooh... 10:30 - mail should be here shortly. Yay!

My son is going back to Kindie again and my daughter is going to pre-k this year. Of course I did what half of American did and gave into the commercialization of school. He is sporting Batman and her Dora.

Today is meet-the-teacher from 2:30 to 3:30. I haven't even filled out the regsitration forms. So I print them off and, instead of filling them out, I'm on here. teehee

Do you have a home warranty? If not, buy one now and then get the furnace Grin

Today, I probably tried to use a few coupons I shouldn't have..... Embarrassment

But, "IF" either of these coupons would have scanned, I believe they would have taken them. Can anyone tell me "if" these had clear barcodes and scanned, do coupons like these typically work at Target? I know I "used" to use HyVee's "manufactrurer" coupons there all the time. I think other stores have this coupon out as well.

BTW, I was using the original coupons from the store flier, and they aren't much clearer than these look.

The Sunshine logo was discussed "after" it wouldnt scan, so that wasn't the holdup.

Thanks for the input.

If they can get it to scan or enter the barcode manually, it will auto off.

It's too bad such an awesome coupon had to be butchered like that. It looks like the expiration date was edited in. I'd be more afraid of them thinking you made it yourself than the fact that it doesn't scan.

That said, I'm printing to use myself. Big Grin
