Please pray for the safety of our employees. This is in silver spring, MD. News said there is a hostage. Police locked down the vicinity and I saw swat team. We were out of the bldg but some I believe are still there. This is the discovery channel corporate bldg.

Well, who knows if this guy is descended from an original Hawaiian on both sides of his family, but it would be interesting to know if anyone in his family was ever an immigrant.

I would have to imagine that (at some point), someone in his ancestry would have had to have immigrated.

Police say the gunman who took three people hostage at the Discovery Channel network's programming has died after they shot him.

All three hostages escaped safely.

I did say that. Frown

The local news is saying that he did a lot of ranting at a Borders across the street, where he offered a local college student $100 to read the book Ishmael (which is currently in my "to read" stack). She took the $100 and found the book interesting, but didn't understand what he wanted.

She said he clearly needed help and that he often referred to children as "pollution" because the earth is overpopulated.
Past tense correction FTW. He's been corpse-ified, after all.

Doesn't the term anchor baby imply the immigration is illegal?
Perhaps that part, but the "stopping ALL immigration pollution" seems to encompass all immigration.

I know. Confirmation and sourcing FTW (we can't watch your local news, at least without a link).

If he did not follow "stopping ALL immigration pollution" with "and the anchor baby filth that follows that." I might agree with you.

You can't arm guards at every place that gives one guy a cause that he thinks is just.

This guy was a blip on the radar and next month, the only people who will remember his name are the people who were directly affected.

There were 3 hostages (according to local news). Don't know if that's online yet, so I guess I'll put that out there.
didn't necessarily say "lethal"....give em stun guns instead

A stun gun won't stop a person from detonating a bomb.

So why not neutralize the threat instead of temporarily disabling it (for 5 seconds)?

I'm all for it...the stun guns were for those who don't think the security needed much to back them up

Well if it was a sniper that got him...the perp is a bit out of range for a stun gun...
