The original dx for him was Asperger's and the ADHD-CT. The latter has always fit him but the first not so much. It took a couple of years and a LOT of research on my part (and friend's help) to figure out exactly what was going on. You know how it is as a mother though. You know when something just isn't right and you don't rest until you find out what's wrong.

The problem is, there aren't many doctors, counselors, or specialists of any kind that are all too familiar with SM. We were VERY lucky with this school in that the diagnostician actually has a very close friend whose daughter also has SM. If it wasn't for her, and my own knowledge, he'd have a very difficult educational road ahead of him.

Even at a young age I knew that something just wasn't right. Tanner never slept through the night. And, by that I mean, he would either stay up ALL night or he'd get up a bazillion times a night. The pedi kept saying he'd outgrow it. Everytime I brought it up he'd find a reason. By the time he was 2 and still up all night I knew that wasn't normal. Actually, it took having my 2nd baby to finally see what was normal and what wasn't. He has always had a speech impairment and no amount of speech therapy has really helped. Maturity and repetition is what has helped.

He's very unique. I love him more than my own life. I would do anything for him. I just get so exhausted with his antics and such that I have to blow off steam somewhere.

I feel bad about writing all of this out (and worry about judgement) so please let me know if this isn't the place for it and I'll delete it.

I've got two kids with mild delays. Mostly developmental but my oldest DD has a mild form of Aspergers. I can't relate to most of what you and Teri and Setsail have to go through every day but I can totally relate to being a momma and trying so hard to help your kids. This is probably the worst/best job there is. hug

Oh and the only on topic that I've ever seen mentioned was poop but at any rate - I know I'm not the only one who cares and would not pass judgment. hug Hugs to ya momma.

Target said it didn't know about the coupon problem until WCCO called them. Reached by phone on Monday afternoon, Target spokesperson Jenn Glass said, "We are working on a fix. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our guests.

How can they be working on a fix if they didn't know about the problem? Doh
Wasn't there someone in deals who spent a lot of time making sure they knew about this problem? I'll go back and look....

Found it here.

This is in no way the first time they've been told this.

The point is, they said they didn't know about the problem, but at the same time, they said they are working on a fix.

Can you say, "LIARS!". ?

How stupid do they think we are?

Wow dd - I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a hard time with him. He sounds like a very special boy. He is lucky to have a mama that cares so much about him. hug

Back to L&L - Did you get the regular book or the young kids edition? I would highly recommend the later since your kids are still little.

And don't worry about this not being the place... we're all here for you!

Did you guys see the linky [wcco.com] that ladycat posted over in deals? Whee
Thanks so much for bringing that over! I posted a link on my facebook - lots of my friends are couponers/wannabecouponers.

Quote from .teri. :
Interesting link. I can say I've never had that happen to me. Thank goodness. Sounds like more glitches in their system. Perhaps they should just go back to their old system. It worked much better Evillaugh
All the coupons that used to be K1'ed due to the amount being over the amount of one item - now auto down to the price of that one item. So the example of her using the $4 Weight Watchers coupon? It took the price of one item off, instead of the full $4, despite her meeting the Qs requirements. And then there are those odd coupons that get auto'ed for no explicable reason, like the Schick coupons. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Quote from .teri. :
I remember those days. I could NEVER fall asleep BEFORE ds. I had to be sure he fell asleep first or who knew what he would be up to. Every now and again I was too tired to stay awake and would fall asleep first and he would ALWAYS take full advantage of it.

One night I woke to find him sitting on the dining room table with a big can of coffee, throwing coffee grounds all over the room and saying "whee" at the same time laugh out loud

And when he didn't do anything destructive, he would leave me subtle and no-so-subtle hints to let me know he had been up during the night. One of his favorite things to do was open all the blinds in the house, so that when I got up I would wonder 'didn't I close them before bed?" the other was to fill all the glasses with soapy water and put them in the fridge. I thought I would go insane laugh out loud
Oh my, that had me laughing, too!! I know it would drive one absolutely crazy, but looking back, do you not laugh just a little bit?? Big Grin

Quote from setsail :
I agree. For me, I finally learned to tell myself that my way isn't how they do things in Holland (our phrase for his view of the world). Every time he asks me to convert how many hours or days until something occurs, into seconds, I have to remember that in his world, seconds are understandable but hours aren't. He has become so much less aggressive and much more even tempered since I started homeschooling. I think he was just so frustrated by the time the end of the school day came around, and I bore the brunt of it (as you wrote, dreem).

Teri, I haven't had to deal with those issues. My ds just wanted me to keep him company. shake head
Love the phrase!!

And dreeme, so sorry for the struggles! This is definitely the place to vent! Some can empathize, some can sympathize, and we'll all listen and give hugs. hug

Off to bed for me! Planning on a trip to a Super T tomorrow, along with a stop at a favorite used bookstore and a huge thrift store. I have no money to spend, but it'll be fun looking!!

Hugs to all!

Hi Ladies Wink

I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes for DH... he did great in surgery... although they had to break part of his backbone... makes me cringe thinking about it but he is OK but in pain. Today was a very LONG day (awoke at 2:45am to make sure we could get to the hospital that is an hour and a half away). So we get there and got stuck there until 7ish tonight... I can NOT believe that back surgery is an outpatient procedure... maddness and the chaos the insurance companies have done to our healthcare system... maddness!!

ANK Congrats on Mavis!! AWWW!! Can't wait to see pics of our TCC newest member. Rest lots and HUGS!!

Amil Happy Birthday!!

Teri Hope your son is OK and is not too sick... does he have pneumonia? HUGS!!

Dreamee Sending many hugs!! I think men and kids are the same when it comes up to all the woman of the house does... hugs!!

Racheal You need to have your little one either on November 18th (my b-day) or November 19th (my ds's birthday)... HUGS!!

Everyone else... I didn't forget you guys... I LOVE ALL OF YOU!! HUGS!!!

I'm not yet sure if this will turn into a good thing or more of a headache. Probably a bit of both. Headache at first while this is all fresh in minds of those at T with just enough mis-information to get it wrong. Then better as computers are fixed and stink dies down.

ITA - I forwarded the info on the other chick from sd to the reporter. Classyscrappers kept documentation on her dealings with corporate and she'd have the evidence to back up the argument that they dang sure did too know about it, they just didn't care to change it.

Here's the reporter's info if anyone has anything to share regarding this issue with her: Paula Engelking [email protected]

If any of you are good searchers, I am needing help finding a direct address to Fujio Mitarai the CEO of Canon Inc.

I keep finding their corporate relations office but I want to make sure my letter lands in the right hands.

That is the problem..In order to fix this, I am sure T will mess something up....IMO, the lady should also have spoken abt how earlier the cpns would say "item not found" even if you had the right items...I am not saying Target's systems are correct but if the cpn is coded for $4/1 item, then the system reads it as such..Earlier it would beep, now it auto's down...The only thing left for T to try is let it go in as $4..Big Grin

Wow! I can't believe they sent him home! I had back surgery and basically had to learn to walk again - there is absolutely No.Way.On.Earth I would have made it out of my bed that first day, let alone down the hall to the elevator, out of the wheelchair and into the car. No.Way. Not only that, what would I have done without my "happy button"???? Wow!

Glad he's doing alright though ~ Next time he tells you he's a tough guy, believe him.

As for the coupon mess at Target, this will all change again on January 1 when the new expanded barcodes become the standard. I haven't heard anything about the changeover being postponed so we'll see if Jan 1 is the real-deal next year!
