They are in the Crayola aisle, in the middle or bottom. There is a little stretch of sketch pads, drawing paper, and construction paper, it's mixed in there. It's like the Kleenex Hand Towels, if you aren't looking for them, you will miss them!

You can get pre-k books and stuff like that at T and other places. They usually have ones that teach writing letters.

As for letters, and learning in general, I would HIGHLY recommend getting the Leap Frog Letter Factory. My two youngest kids watched this over and over, and by 2, knew all their letters and what sounds they made. I never learned to read by phonics, so it was great that my kids were learning to read that way. There are other videos that expand the learning, but the Letter Factory is the best one to start with. Both kids are avid readers now, and my 7-year-old was reading at a 4th grade level in 1st grade. I attribute a lot of that to those videos (well, that and spending summer before last in our sign shop we had with no tv, video games, ect.. only the Public Library close by. She read a 100 books that June-July, just so she could go to the Magic Show they had at the end of summer.)

As for the cupcakes, I attached a pic of them yummy We are having the pot luck for the guy on our team who is always the comedian. Even when he's in a bad mood, he's funny. Walks around singing (very badly and loudly) Taylor Swift or Alabama, or almost anything. The cupcakes are one of his favorite things I have brought in the past, so I thought I would make them for him again.

The cones are a little chewy, but not too bad. Maybe because of the way I make them. I take a "foil sheet" (sheets of aluminum foil, I get a box of 500 at the warehouse club, and it lasts me about 6 years), put the cone in the middle of it, then smush it down into the cupcake pan, so the cone stands upright, and doesn't fall over easily. I cleaned out spilled, burnt cake batter out of my oven too many times before learning that little trick.

Even with making home-made buttercream icing and piping it on, the biggest PIA is making the holder and transporting. The holders are just boxes, with little holes cut out with a razor knife, then $1 store foil tissue paper (in the gift wrap section), so it looks nice. I try to keep one (or two) around, but sometimes the kid's teachers throw them away.

In case anyone is going to ask, the "cherry" on top is a cherry sour ball. I found them at Kroger in the cheap candy. Target doesn't have them.
These is an actual cupcake cone baking contraption. - IDK if I said that very clearly but it is a baking sheet that has the holes in it and has bent sides to make walls to stand it on a cookie sheet. I used the green colored cake cones to make frankenstiens for halloween.

I've seen those on the back of my boxes of cones. I just never got around to getting one. Kinda like Alton Brown, I use what I have. I use the colored ones when I am sending them to school for the kids. They just love little "how did your mom do that!" moments. It's nice when they are still amazed by the littlest things. nod

Very cute!! Was it you that posted a little back about how to make the cones not chewy? I got distracted by the kids and didn't reply right away.

It sounds like you bake them in the cone? I've made them differently.

Bake the cupcakes the regular way, in the cupcake tin. No worries about cones tipping over. Once cooled, smear a little frosting on the top (round) part of the cupcake, then stick that onto the cone. So now you have the flat (bottom) part of the cupcake on top. Wait, I know, at this point every tells me, "but then your ice cream looks flat!." laugh out loud Trust me, it never does. Once you apply the frosting on the top and sides, it magically looks like a round scoop of ice cream, no idea how, but it does. lol. Smilie

I brought these into dd's classroom for an end of year party, and the kids loved'm.

Yep, i bake them in the cone. I tried to make them that way once, didn't turn out so well for me. My cones do look flat(ish) when they come out, that's why I use a piping bag with a big tip to give it that "ice cream" swirl look.

I have never, and I mean never, taken the time to buy personalized stuff for the kids. I know, it's a failing. Since we're going to the Day out with Thomas, and it's (the day after) monkey toddler's birthday, I was thinking of ordering him a birthday shirt. What does everyone think? I have a generic "It's My Birthday" shirt I bought at Gymboree last year but I thought this might be cuter.

LTL7, thanks! It's 18 years, 4 kids, 9 duty stations, 10 address changes, millions of loads of laundry. laugh out loud

Uggh.. Had a big reply typed up and poof it was gone!

LTL7- Those look wonderful. I need the recipe for the frosting. It looks so good. I guess I am lazy cause all our cupcakes are usually betty crockerlaugh out loud How full do you make the cones before cooking? I bet my DD would love those!

I can't get into the drama here or in deals.. too much drama in real life to let internet drama get to me.. The deals thread has been much worse than usual the last few days. I think it is great people use coupons and it helps them save.. but sometimes it seems like people come to share their "stories" just so they can beg for invitation to the "secret club". And I got really tired of all the posts about how people weren't gonna shop at target anymore, whine, whine.. well, great, if you aren't gonna shop there anymore, then why are ya in the target deals thread??

I made a circuit run last night.. Hit CVS, Publix, Kroger, and target.. Used up all expiring extra bucks, rainchecks, coupons, and catalinas.. I felt good to be caught up for a few days. The last batch of target coupons were great, and the grocery store deals have rocked lately, but I am glad for a break!

Didn't go to target or anywhere else today.. Went to church, had lunch, and then hanging with the family. Trying to relax before Monday comes.. Thankfully, only 11 days til we are gonna take a short beach trip!

Dia and Notre- good to see you guys posting again!

Wonder how Ank and little Mavis are today?

Next question, do I order size 5/6 or go one size larger? He's on the verge of 3/4 right now.

Thank you!

And, I think the threats of "I'll never shop at Target again" are just like the "I'm moving to another country if politician X is elected". Never happens. Anyone with kids know, don't bother with empty threats.

Sorry you have having drama in RL. The deals thread is better this afternoon. I think the availability of the coupons on the website has calmed it down.

I got great deals at T long before they had a website and web coupons. There will be more deals!

I hardly ever post in the chat thread, I barely have enough time to go into the deals thread as it is...but with the recent 'stuff' going on, I figured I'd venture in here.

I agree with those saying without TQs, you'd still shop there. Who else has such frickin awesome clearances that are always ongoing? Certainly not the OTHER store, which I avoid at almost all costs. Even without their coupons, they still have killer deals if you know where to find them and when to look, which I do thanks to the Target thread!

I love me some Target. Without coupons, Target is like when your kid mouths off to you, and you just want to smack them but you love them anyway. With coupons, it's like when your kid is sleeping and looks just angelic and you cant love them more. LOL.
