Times are tough. Budgets are being slashed and A LOT of teachers have to buy supplies with their own money, and we all know that their salaries are already low enough.

We obviously don't see eye to eye on this , our techers are still getting a 5 1/2 percent increase with no layoffs nad no contributions to health care , they also answer to no ONE for the where are school dollars are spent . Meanwhile just in the civil section here our police and other township workers are taking pay freezes and making for the first time contrutions to the health care plans to avoid layofffs. While THE TEACHERS UNION continues to just make demands. They are holding the taxpayer hostage.
In the private sector here employees , the one's who pay those taxes are either being laid off , or facing no pay increases and loss of most benefits , the
taxpayers pockets sre empty.
In addition to which we have the highest paid teachers here, in the country
I can't feel bad for them
Yes the school system need to realize times are tough for everyone!
I am informed and have two relatives who are teachers , am not buying into "for the kids"
Pens are for the kids, for heaven sakes third world countries provide pens and pencils for the students. the excess is not.
ETA: I am not against teachers being paid more AT ALL. I think they should be, but I'm just suprised that, in this current economy, that there are pay raises going on.

The deals thread is nerve racking.. between the begging, and all the pages of copy and pasting.. I skim so much when I read it isn't funny. Maybe it needs to be locked longer
Stopped by a Kmart on my travels yesterday.. grabbed 2 of the 5.00 toys for my toddler.. Didn't even have to pay tax with the kmart coupon..And they did some kind of "attention kmart shopper" special while I was there. I sent my DD and DH to enter. There were only 4 people in the drawing and my DD won me a sterling silver bracelet while we were there.. Not to bad.. 2 free toys and a bracelet
As far as the school supplies go.. My SIL is a teacher here and her pay sucks.. She must love what she does cause the pay so isn't worth it for her.. It is even worse because she teaches at a small private school. Not only is the pay bad, but she doesn't get great benefits either.. And I know she spends alot of her own money on classroom stuff. At her school they are required to do so many bulletin boards in the class and everything without much compensation. She is very organized though and saves everything she uses and uses it again every other year or so.. I donate alot of stuff to her. I gave her pencils, pens, and a ton of crayons this year.
well, I need to hit target for a few things.. time to get some milk, bread and coffee for breakfast!
Oh, and as far as the eating goes.. I haven't really cheated in 3 months. but yesterday was bad for me. My stomach was sick all day and I couldn't stomach the thought of salad, which I eat everyday.. I actually had some fries twice yesterday, a piece of toast, some chicken nuggets.. and then I caved last night at the hotel and was hungry, so I ate a bag of animal crackers.. Combine that with the fact that I only had 3 glasses of water.. I can feel it today too.. oh well, another day today!

It looks like the $hit finally hit the fan.
I got to read through all the drama, so I totally get why they closed it.
Do we have rights to not let them dig thru our bag once we have paid...especially if the alarm sensors havent even gone off? I just wonder because once I pay for it, those thing are technically mine right, so it is an invasion of privacy, no?

I buy stuff or get it free with coupons and give it to the teachers all year long.

Rotten night with Mavis again. Poor baby is just having a rough go with the congestion at night time.
Going to T today for some produce and hopefully to find some free colgate. Gotta watch the budget til next payday - amazing how quickly the $$ goes when you've got hospital bills and had a crazy month. Our electric bill was $230!!! We didn't even have the air on *that* low - never lower than 74! It's at 78 now. Amazing what that 4 degrees does - $100 difference.

The other would be, the sillier the better -- skipping in a circle for 15 minutes while singing Skip to my Loo. Imitating the teeny boppers in music videos -- although maybe if we do this, we should have someone in the house who is old enough to call 911. Those might not be the best suggestions, but you get the idea. Anything to get MOVING.

I smoked 30 cigs a day for 17 years and I am only 33 y/o. I quit around 18 months ago and let me tell you. I am so R.I.C.H! I think the $$$ is my motivating factor NOW for staying off the stick.
Qutiing was hard, but not as hard as I always told myself it would be just to talk myself out of quitting. I did the patch for 10 weeks, and I have to say I "cheated", I kept a secret stash of smokes in a winter coat pocket in the coat closet and hid when I smoked the occasional cheater cig. Looking back on it, I think I did that because I am bullheaded, If I' told I cant or shouldn't - I do. But then the cheater cig eventually weren't needed and once off the step 2 patch I never smoked another one!
If I can quit it is possible for anyone to quit. When I smoked I loved to smoke, I loved cigarettes and the way the smelled and they way they made me feel but OMG all of that has changed!!! I hate smokers, I hate the smell of smoke and and the sight of it. My MIL is the only one who is still smoking, we all quit at the same time - Me, DH, MIL and FIL. But now she has a BoyFrnd that smokes so I dont think she will quit anytime soon. But it is one of the BESTEST things I have ever done for myself, my husband and my kids - who hated our smoking. I don't let her smoke around us, on my property and if she wants to take the kids she has to wait to smoke until they are home with me.

As for the patches I might as well have rolled them n smoked them...didnt help....
My plan is to put my buts in a jar with water for a week (should be super nasty) n sniff / puke as needed
