These guns have a lot of history, much of it bad. The original design, for the MAC 10 [wikipedia.org], was intended to be a cheap to produce, simple, .45 cal submachine gun for the military. The MAC 11 was a 9mm variant. These guns have been made by various manufacturers over the years, and are pretty much what you'd expect for the price. Simple guns, made of mostly stamped parts. They got a lot of bad PR when the Assault Weapons Ban was being tossed around, and are associated more with gangs and drug dealers than the military anymore. Don't let the simple design and manufacture fool you, though, they're very robust, reliable guns...pretty much the AK-47 of submachine guns...ugly and cheap to make, but damn robust and reliable.

They are, however, fun to take to the range, or out to the woods. They're not very accurate, not very ergonomic, and not very refined, but they're pretty cool looking, and have a lot of accessories you can trick them out with.

I have one I bought about 15 years ago. I rarely shoot it, but it's one of the guns that gets the most attention in my safe (most people think it's an Uzi).

Again, not a fine piece of craftsmanship, but a good price on a neat piece.

If you want to step up, they sell an Uzi [wikipedia.org] for $725:

The Uzi, on the other hand, is a fine piece of machinery, made by the Israelis in the 1950s and still used today.

How to order guns online or through the mail via an FFL dealer:

If you have an FFL (or C&R, in the case of C&R guns), you can order and have the items shipped directly to you.

If you don't, you need to locate an FFL dealer and have the gun shipped to them. You order and pay for the gun, directly through S.O.G.'s website. You enter your address as the billing address, and the FFL dealer you choose as the shipping address. When it arrives, you then pick up the gun at the FFL dealer and pay him whatever fee he charges (usually $20-30, but shop around for the best price...some charge a lot more, some will negotiate and charge less).

You can locate an FFL dealer through either of these sites. Enter your ZIP code or address to sort them by distance. Be sure to check the fees they charge and try to get the best deal you can:

Since my post on single shot air rifles got some TC from the anti gun crowd, this oughta make thier heads explode, haha. Think of it as my personal "Thank you," to the folks who crap on gun threads.

I'm going to ask a stupid question I think, but isn't Fully Auto mostly banned everywhere or are these single shot UZI's?
Sorry I'm not so gun savvy.

Ah thanks for the info. I honestly wish I had a fully automatic UZI. It would be just fun at the range. A complete mess, and expensive as bullets would disappear like drinking water but fun none the less.

No, full-auto is only banned in several crazy liberal states (Kalifornia being one of them).

single shot?

It's called semi-auto. These are not bolt-action rifles.

ya...damn crazy liberal states that ban fully auto guns. Pisses me off that I had to go thru all that red tape to get those SAMS setup on my front lawn too..

in the USA full auto isn't "banned" federally per se, but it's so highly regulated that they're so rare that they go for 20x the price of semi-auto. There's also full-auto taxes which are quite high. generally speaking, no one buys full auto any more and you won't see them for sale. until laws change.

$200 one-time tax and you are supposed to have a BATF approved safe to store the gun in.

and yes, they are about 10X the price of a brand new semi-auto firearm of the same make.

M16 & MP5 ~ 8k - 9k

You can still get a sten for less than 1k, which is essentially a bullet hose.

Guns are way over-regulated in the US. Any law abiding citizen should be allowed to own whatever they want, semi or full auto included.

And when the SHTF -- all the stupid gun laws in the world will no longer matter, it will only matter who has the guns and the most ammo.

These uzis are CENTURION- not IMI(israeli military) there is a big difference. They sell on Gunbroker for $800ish, wich still makes this a decent deal.

I don't think you can import IMI Uzis anymore, but my understanding is that these are IMI Uzi parts built on a US made receiver. It's the closest most people can afford to get to a military Uzi.

I agree 100%. Gun laws only hurt the people that follow the laws, they don't deter someone that's going to try to blow your head off anyway.
