I know a lot of you feel like sometimes I am ignoring your posts or PM's.

So, here's a list I constructed earlier today, not as an excuse but an explanation. This list is not inclusive but is very typical of my day!!

Quote from RefCache :
Trying to balance it in addition to all the stuff I'm doing sometimes is a struggle! I'm always busy remotely connecting to the various machines running around the house, queuing up Blu-ray ripping and encoding (when I buy Blu-rays now, I digitize them to 720p or 1080p files to store on the media server for easy access anywhere in the house and put the discs away for safe keeping), managing server jobs, checking on downloads (I download a LOT of software!!), troubleshooting technical support problems in virtual machines I run on the Hyper-V server (virtual machine are SOOOO great! I can run an entire computer in a virtual environment, so when granny next door has a problem on her Windows 95 machine, I can troubleshoot what the problem is virtually before I try to fix it physically!!), playing with Tomato [polarcloud.com] on the various routers/Access Points I have running (I  TOMATO!!!!), etc.

Also have Photoshop open a LOT at whatever machine I'm at.

So it typically goes -
  1. Start responding to a PM...
  2. Get sidetracked in a forum thread.
  3. Alt-Tab to Photoshop. Construct funny graphic to post in thread. Laugh ridiculously at own humor. Save graphic to post in thread later.
  4. Remote message from server job running appears! Alt-tab to remote session to see what's going on.
  5. Troubleshoot stupid server issue. Find it needs download to fix.
  6. Alt-tab to file server. Find required download. Start download. Check on other downloads. Rejoice at completed downloads!!! Find some downloads stalled or are not working. Swear. A lot. Desire beer.
  7. Mistakenly alt-tab to media server. See that Blu-ray encoding of VC-1 video portion of Blu-ray has issue. Troubleshoot issue. Swear. Find ingenious workaround!! Set up workaround job that will take 12 hours to process.
  8. Alt-tab to Hyper-V server. Virtual Machine running Windows 98SE needs reboot to apply changes it just download. Reboot virtual machine. Swear at users who STILL FARKING USE WINDOWS 98SE. Express deep love of virtual machines verbally. Verbal expressions are close to poetic. Write Haiku about Virtual Machines. Look for place online to post Virtual Machine Haiku poem. Find 2,785,498 results on Google for places to post Computer Related Haiku. Mark on To Do list for later.
  9. Alt-tab to Tomato only browser window!!! Admire. Fiddle with settings. Break something. Swear. Revert changes and reboot router.
  10. Alt-tab to DVR portion of Media Server. Look at TV schedule to see if random show being discussed in SD forum threads has upcoming episodes. Wonder who the hell watches this crazy stuff? Set recordings for said shows anyway even though they will likely never be watched. Look at previously recorded queue and realize how many are unwatched. Swear.
  11. Alarm for taking meds goes off. Forget which computer the meds were left near. Swear.
  12. Desire beer greatly when taking meds. Swear vehemently at doctor for forbidding beer until meds are complete!
  13. Find meds at computer in office. Notice some issue on office computer. Troubleshoot. Read 15 threads about issue on various technical forums. Start to write post to some idiot who offered ridiculous solution to issue that doesn't even remotely begin to solve it! Swear in post. After previewing post no less than 20 times, forget to hit submit before closing the browser. SWEAR. Abandon rewriting post.
  14. Forget why I came into this room? Was looking for something. SWEAR.
  15. Go back to original computer. Sit down. Get comfortable. Remember PILLS!!! SWEAR!!!!!
  16. Get pills. Grab bottle of water from fridge on return. In fridge, see previously prepared roast beef in Tupperware. Laugh hysterically.
  17. Alt-tab from DVR on Media Server back to original machine desktop. See graphic prepared for SD post. Laugh again hysterically.
  18. Alt-tab back to browser. Hit "Preview Message" to see where I was in creating response to PM. Receive 40 notifications, 20 of which are new PM's! SWEAAAAAAAR!!!!!
  19. ...
  20. Rinse.
  21. Repeat.

Ref, I usually use Paint.Net for my quick fun pics. Lighter weight and still gets the job done 99% of the time.

Yes it did thankfully.

Though I already bought all of the supplies needed for the ark Ranting

In all seriousness though, we got a lot of rain and some of the smaller cities around us are evacuated due to flooding. We are in "danger" of flooding here for the next 2 weeks.

In 07 we got 17 inches of rain. Google SE MN flood August 07 if anyone wants to see what happened back then.

PM me if you want to see the complex I live in when it was underwater..

I have no issues with lack of system resources on nearly all my machines.

Also, I am in the process of still getting used to CS5 so the moar I have it open the better I am getting into the interface, and tweaking it to work for me.

I am trying to!

I do really like the x64 version. I was recently working with some extremely large raw .DNG files directly from a scanner (1.3 GB each, and there were four files I merging) and it was much MUCH smoother than when I've tried doing such work in CS3.

Really?? That must be nice. I only have 2 gig, have outlook, FF, IE, notepad++, SQL Server Management Studio 2008, Office communicator, at least 1 Visual studio 2005 open, sometimes a 2003, and probably 2-3 2008s open, along w/at least 2 remote connections.

In FF I usually have around 10+ tabs open, so that hogs res in and of itself, and for IE I have to use a ticket system that is reeeeeally clunky and takes up a lot of res too.

PS kinda kills things :/.
