Holy crap, I was going through a box of skincare items a friend sent me (she bought lots of items in a collection, only to find out she's allergic, so I got the unused items). They're all from Neiman Marcus and I went online to look up ingredients and see if they would generally work for my skin...and holy crap, one of the moisturizers she sent me is $400 Faint

Even at the height of my "more money than common sense" phase, I would never have paid that much for a moisturizer!

I have unfortunately gotten WAY too many bakery goodies. Hence the need to join the Target Chit Chat diet group lol. I haven't gotten any of the BF shirts though...not sure why.

Btw, how in the world did you retire so early? I really need you to PM me some suggestions. I dont think I can handle teaching for 18 more years!!!!
I lucked out with some early investments... and I traded a job I hated, with disposable income, for no job and no frills. But I wouldn't go back! I honestly think the biggest thing one can do to start getting ahead is to pay off the house as soon as possible. It's amazing what you can do once that payment is gone. Of course it helps that I have no dependents!

(am I the only one who wants a squinkie?)
LMFAO!! My mom has been finding Squinkies over @ Hellmart..She buys them for me (she lives 2 hours away) then I pay her back... so far I think we have all the big sets... now need all of the bracelets, pencil toppers, and the multipacks... I get OCD about having to have the whole collection of things.. crazy I tell you!?! They are cute but I think the Zoobles are cuter... but that's a whole 'nother story... I told my mom I want the Zhu Zhu Wild Pets for Christmas... LMFAO!! I am such a little kid @ heart plus I love weird and wild animals. As I tell her you won't buy me a cool pet, so you can buy me a stuffed one Smilie

Funny story, we have two Asian Leopard Cats (very small leopard), they are very friendly and are babies... we keep them in our main bathroom when people come in and out of our house b/c they are super expensive... my mom is deathly afraid of them and refuses to use our main bathroom... now think of these things being the size of a chihuahua (small one) or the size of an average 6 month old kitten... it's hilarious!! I love to mess with my mom!! Wink

meeshe, that would freak me out with the playpen thing.

When Makena was about 11 months old my son woke me up and said "siser hurt, sisser crying." I thought "yeah, she wants up" so I didn't jump right out of bed. (it was super early in the morning and she was in her crib) After a couple of minutes I get up and go to her room. She's not in her crib but I don't see her anywhere else. As I get close to the crib I notice the mattress has a bump in the middle. I flip it up and she's wedged between the metal crib slats, strangling herself. I fuhreaked out. I couldn't pull her up out of the slats so I had to force her head the opposite way and push hard to pop her head out. She has some bad red marks, bruising, and her voice was hoarse from crying. I don't know how long she was like that.

I called DH bawling. I just sat in the floor and rocked and held her for so long.

I called the company (Simplicty, which is also Graco) and they basically told me it wasn't their problem. I demanded a check to replace the crib.

I called the CPSC and they made a report. Come to find out, like 8 babies had died in this crib. I called the news and they at first weren't interested but called me back and did a story on us.

Eventually (I believe in April of this year, and this happened in May 07), they recalled all the cribs. Simplicity is no longer in business.
OMG!! I am sooooooooooo sorry that they happened to your DD... I am so happy that she is OK... but I tell you cribs, playpens, etc... I am not to keen on how they are made. Our one crib.. our son catches his legs in all the time.. it was a very nice pricey crib but he's 1 and I cannot imagine that is what's supposed to happen... you know!?! I am double checking all my little ones as I write this... awww HUGS!!

Yeah I like spending money, probably alittle toooooooo much especially when it comes to my kids but $400 for a moisturizer.. I would be in shock and totally crazed to spend that much $$!!

My Target's around here here are terrible ...seriously.

But Christie... the man was speaking the truth about what is happening here, and yes the woman hung herself, the school board doesn't even get to decide
where are school budget money is spent. Nor do our town council members, as I said they ANSWER to no one about where this money goes and these are public funds and OUR tax dollars.

I need a new toaster. We even tossed the one we had and bought an old toaster at a yard sale hoping it might be better. It's a little better but not much.

I want one that actually toasts the damn bread in less than an hour. If Bunn made a toaster -- that was half as good as their coffee pots, I would so be in line to buy one.
too bad. if you lived closer, i would give you the 4 slice oster i got 90% off for 1.99 at cvs earlier this yr b/c i just had to buy it. i could have bought 3 more that never, ever got marked down so nobody ever knew they were clearance but the box was too big and takes up too much room.

FWIW, I don't think anyone MA'ed new names. Any forum I've ever been on and worked will throw up a red flag for multiple accounts from the same IP.

Also, spiders are evil. I am horribly afraid of spiders (even looking at that picture made me freak out and cry- how pathetic is that?). I've found that spraying them with air freshener and then throwing a cup over them kills 'em. Stupid bugger should know better than to get into my house!
hmmm, what does this say about about using air freshener around humans if it kills spiders.....

Got my answer from the mod on multiple accounts. We can have 1 account per user. My DH can sign up even though we have the same IP. Mods will look at activity and posting style and this is how they determine it is different peeps.
dh signed up after i got him a stub hub code so he could do it himself. we have totally different style and activities. dh lurks the freebies thread. i don't think he's ever posted. i used to be in hot deals, then cvs, now target. recently somebody admired my *prolific* posting but i think others beat me hands down at that.

sometimes we have to sign each other out to get on slickdeals b/c i think only one person can be signed in at a time on one computer.

no, you definitely don't want to live here. we have the highest real estate taxes in the nation. yes, out of 50 states, we are number 1. we used to have the highest auto insurance also, regulated by state govt, so geico refused to come for a long time. i think we have a slight negative population growth w/ more people leaving for neighboring states w/ lower taxes than people moving here. not as bad as CA, FL, MI, etc but it's not good.

we have rampant government corruption. last yr's case which included the arrest of 2 mayors, some rabbis and an alleged kidney trafficker made national headlines-
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1...75685.html

we have government officials who somehow have 2 fulltime jobs and collect pensions on both jobs. so teachers are only trying to hang onto the pay of the one job they have.

we have so many incorporated townships so we have an incredible amount of government employees and unnecessary government duplication. many towns are so small they share high schools or send their students to a neighboring township and pay for them so they don't have to pay to build a high school. can you imagine how many government officials have *fulltime* jobs but don't have enough work in reality to work fulltime hours??? so recently they've begun to share administrators and government services like police, school superintendents, animal control, etc. both towns were paying for their own services b4, but now they can't afford it.

the governor left out that his administration just lost 400 million dollars in federal education grant money 3 wks ago b/c of idiotic bungling (probably nonexistent reading comprehension skills). the guy in charge was asked to resign and then he asked to be fired b/c he needed to collect unemployment. guess who's paying for that.
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com...missioner/

we don't have any ST's and we never will b/c supermarkets are unionized here and both walmart and target will never, ever answer to a union. we are slowly getting more expanded groceries but they can be infested w/ fruit flies and ants. they also don't practice stock rotation so you really have to be careful not to buy food that's already 6 months expired. on the other hand, that means you can sometimes find hidden deals b/c they don't do markdowns either.

we are the laughing stock of reality tv between housewives of nj, jersey shore and jerseylicious. until now i've never admitted in a thread where i've lived. it's too embarrassing!!! and no, most people in nj don't look like and act like any of those idiots. most of the kids in jersey shore are actually from somewhere else. snooki is from upstate NY.

only good thing. we actually don't have that many sd'ers and many of them are lurkers. i've only bumped into one once. kind of each person has their own little territory and not too much overlap. we don't have much smash and grabbing b/c most of the supermarkets around here have strict limits as to how much you can buy and how many coupons you can use. the stores are not that close to each other so you can't really do circuits. many people do use some coupons but the culture here is moderation. so usually coupons are not really scrutinized that closely and there are no real set limits at the targets.

Hi Bronc..nice to meet you. I am the nice one of the group. These people pick on me all the time. I tried to leave the group, but they say that if I leave they will hunt me down and make rabbit stew. They do things to me, evil things, like making me go on a diet starting monday. They make me look at x-rated things..like toilet plunges. My innocence is gone.

OK seriously..nice to meet ya. I'm a loud mouth, lippy and well a general pain in the @ss.

I'm off to T and Kroger (for milk & Sunday papers) before I get sucked in here too.

As for the Target and Union thing Slowtech posted, during orientation, we had to watch videos, one of them was a 30 min video solely on what to do if we were approached by a Union asking us to join. Very dramatic things. Like our TL won't be able to help us anymore, our lives will fall apart, they will hunt down our children and eat them (not quite that bad, but they did make it seem as thought T would just completely shut down and no one would be able do work). It was quite entertaining.

I am still at the hospital. ughhh I'm ready to strangle the ex. Actually strangling would be too nice, he needs something worse than that Annoyed

anyhoo,

ds decided to get out of his hospital gown and into his clothes this morning and promptly told the resident on duty that he wants to go home. We're now waiting on the attending to let us know if he can go home. He's not needed anymore oxygen but he is still having the headaches, so he crawled back into the bed and is taking a nap:
