I took down my post about Carly's school having a btfe contest too. Someone said I was wrong to do that because Jamie posted her's first. I am so sorry! I was not asking for btfe AT ALL!! I was just posting that ir must be that time of year for that kind of thing. I, in no way, meant to take anything away from her! I will go in lurker mode today, sorry again!
What? OMG how rude is that?? I certainly don't care who is ISO of them. Hell, everyone here can post and say they are looking for them. laugh out loud I'm sorry! That was just rude and out of line. I read your post and thought about sending you some of what I already have so you can win your contest too. 'Cause we are the champions, my friend.

LTL, I applied for a cashier job at Target. Any tips or suggestions? How does the process work?
If they don't call you within a few weeks, I would call them. They haven't started hiring seasonal here yet, but they will be soon. I was called the next day, but I was also on Food Stamps at the time, and it was in early Nov., so both TRU & T called me the same day to set up interviews. Companies get a tax break for hiring people on government assistance. I had not job experience for 10 years, I was also a SAHM.

If you don't hear from there in a week or so, try calling them. Ask them when they are going to start hiring seasonal, when you call, ask to talk to the LOD, if ask to talk to HR or mention you applied, the operator will sometimes give you a line about "we have no openings at this time" or "you application is being reviewed", ect..

Quote from kallison423 :
The interviews are ridiculously stupid. Each of mine, the person interviewing wrote down every.single.word I said.

You'll get called for an interview, then probably sent for drug testing, then when that comes back clean, it's orientation.
Yes, they ask every stupid question out there. Just dress work-casual (I think I wore some nice jeans and a sweater), mention you have an "attention to detail" (they eat that $#it up! and if you Q, you do have an attention to detail), and answer the stupid questions like, "If I was a color, what color would I be". I would not mention that Q while you are interviewing, some people really look at it in a bad light, as all of us have experienced. I would mention that you shop at the store a lot, you already know a lot about Target, where items are, stuff like that. Don't ask about any perks, like TM discount, insurance, or anything like that. Make it seem like you want the job because you really just like Target as a company.

Even if they hire you as "seasonal", like I was, if you have half-a-brain, which you do, they will keep you on after the holiday season. As for perks, I'm sure you already know about the TM Discount, insurance sucks ass, and you don't qualify for it till after 6 month, so don't do it for that. It literally pays $200, then you have to pay a $4000 ($8000 w/ kids) deductible, which everything, even prescriptions are subjected to, before it will pay anything else. It's really not worth it!

Target is also big about cross-training people. So, if you are hired on as Cashier, they will probably train you for other areas too after awhile, if you want them to. The more you know...the better you can Q Evil

Don't forget, if you get hired before the end of Sept, check out the "Red" magazine in the break room. It's got some awesome Qs in it this month!

Good Luck!

Ank When do you find out the results for the Ms. Mavis tests? HUGS!!
Just coming in to post that we got a call back from the doctor already.

He said her spinal test looked great and there's no further testing or anything needed for that - thank goodness! Her kidney ultrasound still shows dilation, so they are sending her to a pediatric urologist (Oct. 5th - ugh... hate that wait), and they are scheduling her for a test. I think it's called a VCUG. Basically, they will put a catheter in her and fill her bladder with a liquid that has a dye in it. Then they take x-rays while she pees and check to see if the dye all comes out like it should or flows back up toward the kidneys.

From what I'm reading on the net, it then depends on what is causing the flow. It seems that most of the time they expect the kids to grow out of it in time, and occasionally there's an abnormality that needs correction via surgery. Of course, I'm hoping for the "grow out of it" part.

So far, it's been a fairly uneventful day. The car has a flat tire, so I don't know if I'll get out to shop at all. Frown DH had to run and do some errands for church this morning and discovered it on his way out. Hopefully he'll be back home before he has to go to work so he can check out the car and change the tire if we have a spare. I think we do...

Not much else going on, I guess!

Ank, that's great news about mavis. Although the cathiter with dye is a little scary, dd had one at a year and a half, do to a uti.

Speaking of uti I kinda feel like I'm getting one I know to drink lots of fluid, cranberry juice etc, but didn't someone mention white grape juice?

Thismom4deals thanks for your reply in tccd, I can view but can't post while on my cell. I actually work full time from home, but I only usually take a ten minute break so, I don't have time to prepare meals etc. I think I am going to plan my meals out better this weekend, so hopefully next week will go smoother.

I think I had a blocked duct or something. My right side was super super painful to nurse Mavis on - like wincing, want to cry/scream pain - and had some hard spots. Anyway, I've been switching up her nursing position and stuff, and last night she latched on, I felt this even worse pain, then she made this grimacing face and detached herself. She did that a couple of times, then made like she was choking and getting too much. I hand expressed a little bit, then she reattached and a couple minutes later I realized that I didn't have the pain suddenly!! So yay! No more pain now.

heart My sweet Mavis is laying in my arms & snoozing, her mouth in that sweet baby "o" and her hands clasped together under her chin! heart
Ohhh - glad she worked that blockage out. I had mastitis once....and once was enough. All because I was away from the baby and the pump too long. Then after a round of antibiotics...I got c-diff - that wasn't fun either. Ahhh -the joys.

But, if it weren't for long-term damage from squeezing out my large babies I would soooo have another!

Enjoy her!

Good Morning my mean friends.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on all posts. From what I have read so far:

Ank...Yeah on Ms. Mavis!! I hope her Kidney test comes back normal. While you are playing the waiting game, we shall keep you great compay.

Chili person..seems like you got some good recipes. Sorry I forgot who requested it.

Jilly..Don't let people on SD bug you. Now come out to play or we shall hunt you down and thrash you about!

Dreeme...I got BTFE for you! And in the spirit of 'championship', I shall share with Jilly provided she comes out and we don't have to waste our shopping energies on thrashing her about.

Dreeme...Good luck with the job!!

My washing machine broke this morning, the printer broke this morning...it is so not a good morning!
RA noobs are being boobs!
I need coffee, but alas, Target run for this morning..done..DH did a wonderful job. Got me 4 towels, towel rack, some scents, I think they are the frebreeze ones, can't remember what the q's were. Anyway he spent .70 cents. So I guess all is not lost. But the day is still young.

Ok so today I discovered finding something fast and healthy for lunch was a challenge
Yeah, that's hard, especially when you are out. Start packing stuff For extra fun you could take the money you would spend and save it for something new at a specific weight goal. Like, new pants that don't fall down! I do low carb, so most of my ideas fall in that range.
Celery with a little smear of peanut butter
Celery with cream cheese, for extra zing a little sprinkle of season salt
Salad Lunches are filling -- bed of lettuce topped with XX Salad
Chicken salad, tuna salad, crab salad.... use mayo and diced celery for crunch. Slivered almonds are good in the chicken. Pack the lettuce and salad separately.
Add a cup of broth for something hot -- Instead of the bouillon cubes I buy Soup Base. It's a little more expensive but I don't think it is in the long run -- it goes further. I think the flavor is better and it doesn't have that weird taste that bouillon often does. In this brand it comes in chicken, beef, and ham.

ummm, I haven't worked since 2002. I've been a SAHM
I've been one of those since 1986. We home schooled -- why do I always say "we"? I don't think hubby taught one lesson or checked one assignment? Anyway, kids are grown so I guess I am technically retired. Except for the housework, yard work, laundry, meals...

Like hell ya will. We will come right on in after you and yank you out of there. (Mostly because we think there might be cookies there)

Yeah, it's a good thing I am not in the market for a job. I'm just afraid my response to that would be something along the lines of, "that's the dumbest damn question I have ever been asked. Now, move on to something pertinent you little dipshit".

Ok, so I am 24 hours into the fast and I have to say I am not starving. Didn't even wake up hungry. Yesterday afternoon and around supper time I was eyeing the food but resisted. I didn't get down to the weight bench yesterday.

First daughter was sleeping, then when she got up her title was ready and we ran back to town -- she just bought a Miata and the title wasn't right so the seller had to get a new one, it came, we picked it up, went to court house. By then hubby home, fixing supper, that done and I just completely forgot. It just didn't cross my mind to do. Confused I did get the walking in at the lake with the dogs though.

Daughter worked all night so once again she is sleeping -- so it's wait til late afternoon to use the weight bench again but today I will NOT forget. I am talking the dog for at least a mile walk today and I am going to do a little yard work plus some laundry.

I know I wasn't supposed to it but I got on the scale. Some of it could be fluid weight -- but I have been drinking -- anyway I was down a little over 4 lbs. We'll see if it sticks.

Chili Recipe
A couple pounds of ground beef, browned and drained
2 or 3 cans of chili beans in chili gravy (I think that's what they say)
1 or 2 cans of diced tomatoes
1can of diced tomatoes with chilis (Rotel)
Put it in the oven @ 250 or the crock pot for a few hours.

For a recipe with No Beans, I can't help. I buy Hormel Chili with No Beans and it's good. (I don't even like chili, it's the only kind I will eat -- think chili dog or chili cheese fries)

How about Ham and Beans? Want a recipe for that? I save the bone and scraps when we have a good spiral or bone in ham.

A bag of Northern Bean or Butter Beans which ever you prefer
A ham bone - the more fat and meat attached the better
If you have left over ham and want to chop some up in it, that's even better.
Teaspoon or so of black pepper.

Put that in a medium size roaster and fill nearly full with hot water. Put the lid on it and stick it in the oven at 350. After a couple hours check to make sure it isn't sticking, give it a stir and you can turn it down to 300 for another hour or two. Or longer. The crock pot will work fine also. I prefer the oven.

Aww sorry to hear that. Isn't that always the way though. I just bought a Brother all in one -- printer, scanner, fax that I really like. It was $50 at Best Buy and it takes those cheap ink refills -- 3 of each color and 5 black on ebay for $19 shipped. I really like it a lot. Oh yeah, it's wireless -- as in 802.11 g built in, doesn't have to be connected to any computer at all.

In the mean time..I shall resort to selling my BTFE Rofl2
