Thank sjm, I may try that, I'm feeling off today in general so maybe its not a uti?

Thanks love2be, I hope the hungry feelinmg will go away because I really wanna stick to it and loose weight. I think not drinking soda is playing a big role in my hunger feelings, because I always felt full when drinking it and now I don't have that feeling since I cut back on the soda.
are you drinking water?? That will help you feel full too!

Yep.. That is what I love about low carb.. I love that if I am hungry, I can eatBig Grin I used to keep deviled eggs made up in the fridge for a quick snack.. The protein and fat combo does wonders for keeping you satisfied longer.

Today, I am not a poster child for good eating though.. I have been celebrating my birthday and have had alot of "junk" food.. I actually can't wait to get back on track though.. I feel kinda yucky and bloated today!

Thanks!!! Celebrating my last year in my 30'sWink I think I share my birthday with another TCCer.. Setsail maybe?

As far as diet resources.. I used to be very active on an atkins board.. Kinda like the SD of dieting.. They were very helpful and lots of resources.
Google atkins diet bulletin board

On the water.. I can't remember if you posted how much you wanted to lose, but I remember when I started low carb in 2003, the web sites recommended 64 ounces of water plus an extra 8 ounces for every 20 (or maybe 25) pounds you needed to lose.. For me, that is alot of water.. I usually drink around 80-90 ounces a dayOMG Of course, I am rather fluffyWink

I don't have any information on it besides cutting carbs, I need to get a book to read,
The Atkins website does lay out the diet -- interspersed with advertising. You can google and find it elsewhere. Check your local library they probably have at least one book. Used places are a good place to look for your own copy too. I don't have a book.

I was gonna check the library, I need to figure out if I can realistically do atkins, or if low carb will work better for me. I'm still not sure Frown

OK I know I'm the oddball with the weightloss surgery (NOT Bypass) but my doc's diet advice was a version of low carb.

Basically he said
1 - Make sure to drink your water
2 - When sitting down to a meal always eat your proteins first.
3 - Snacks should be protein centered as well to avoid an insulin spike that will make you hungry sooner..
4 - Overall focus on getting a minimum of 3 grams of protein for every 2 grams of carbs.

His view was that if you focused on the above the rest (calories/nutrition) would fall in place on its own.

It may sound like eating only 1.5 times more protein than carbs isn't very low carb however considering how many carbs are in the littlest thing it is quite low carb.

For example (Open Faced Sliced Chicken Sandwich):
1 slice wheat toast - 9 carbs 3 proteins
1.5 ounces (2 slices oven roasted chicken breast) - 1 carbs 7 proteins
1 serving mayo - 2 carbs 0 protein
Total = 12 cabs 10 proteins (EQUALS TOO MANY CARBS)

Oddly enough though something like cream cheese has 9 carbs to 14 protein so totally fine on my docs version of diet. (Sour Cream not so much)

Cottage Cheese was one of the best with a ratio of 8 carbs to 27 protein - I often would blend it into a consistency similar to Sour Cream and use it in recipes as a partial if not full substitute for sour cream or even milk. Was great for making high protein low carb sugar free puddings, and not too shabby for making chip dip. (a great substitute for chips was Turkey Pepperoni microwaved between paper towels until crisp)

Problem was I fell back into lazy ways and haven't wanted to spend the time necessary to eat right no matter what you consider healthy.

when I get a chance I'm going to add a weight loss ticker to my sig line. But to keep it a bit more private it will reflect a percentage to goal as opposed to actual pounds and I won't actually say that it is for weight loss as far as the rest of the board is concerned it could be a savings goal or debt pay off goal or whatever.

Ugh! Dreeme: Sorry about DD getting so many shots...I always send DH when shots will be given Evillaugh

Ank: Sorry there are going to be more tests for Mavis soon but glad you are getting answers along the way. hug

Had 2 super shopping trips today. Took DS to visit a friend an hour away and while he was napping, I was able to hit 2 stores. After the last store, I looked at my GPS for the next closest store but turned around once I got to a dirt road and some barns. Apparently T was 500 ft from there... laugh out loud Not sure what that was about but I felt like a moron even going that far LMAO

Do u have to be a member to ww to see the points list?

I'm not sure what's going to work well the atkins is hard I don't feel full cutting out my carbs so far, but maybe I'm used to being stuffed, so I will keep trying.

Today I had oatmeal for breakfast w/ a cup of coffee but I only drank 1/3 of it,
1/2 a peanut butter sandwich and cran straw juice for lunch, and a cup of carrots sticks and a quarter sz dallup of ranch w/ water for a snax.
There are tons of WW resources online - I was never a member but lost a lot of weight using that method....here is a link to figure out how many pts. you get per day: http://www.lesslisa.com/wwchart.htm And I don't know why it isn't on that list but when I did it you got 35 'flex' points to use for the whole week in addition to that per day. Are you talking like a list of foods with their respective points values?? Here is that: http://quiddity.cc/rachel/diet/wwfoods.htm Honestly what worked best for me is having the points slider (it is like a cardboard calcluator of sorts) where you can see how many pts. something is based on the amount of calories, fiber, and fat. I got those from a friend, but I've seen them on eBay sometimes. And you also learn to do it in your head....I can pretty much look at a food label now and know how many points it will be.

Sooooo, you can technically have a piece of chocolate or a slice of greasy pizza or whatever and still be within your points for the day and be just fine. But it's a lot easier to eat healthier because then you can eat more....so in a way you don't want to eat bad because if you do you'll use up all your points and have none by the end of the daySmilie

Forgot to ad, I haven't had any soda today bounce that's a huge accomplishment for me.

So I'm thinking of making buffallo wings for the family , I might bake me a chicken breast and lightly baste with hotwing sauce. And salad for a side.
What are you replacing all that soda with?? I kinda wonder if you aren't getting full because the soda was filling you up. Dontknow With the oatmeal and the PB&J from today did the oatmeal and bread you used have a good bit of fiber in them?? That makes a big difference I've found. There are some companies that make low-cal breads with lots of fiber....some whole grain breads that contain lots of fiber also contain lots of cals so you have to be careful there too. Whee So much to look at!!

Makena got off the bus crying again today. I called the supervisor of the bus company and he's pulling the video tapes to see what's happening. Tanner said that bus driver screams at them all the time and there are 85 kids on that bus. OMG.
hug Mad So sorry, that should not be happening!!

OK, teeth advice from my Target peeps.

My tooth hurts sooo bad. I had a cavity in Jan and the dentist said it prob needed a root canal but he would try the filling first. Now it for sure needs a root canal. Dentist also said he could just pull it for $75.00. So do I pay almost a grand to keep it and do a root canal or $75 to pull it? It's in the VERY back. Do I need it? Feels so weird to have to decide if I need to keep a tooth. I'm only in my mid thirties. Is this normal?

I need to decide ASAP cause it hurts like hell.
