OK, teeth advice from my Target peeps.

My tooth hurts sooo bad. I had a cavity in Jan and the dentist said it prob needed a root canal but he would try the filling first. Now it for sure needs a root canal. Dentist also said he could just pull it for $75.00. So do I pay almost a grand to keep it and do a root canal or $75 to pull it? It's in the VERY back. Do I need it? Feels so weird to have to decide if I need to keep a tooth. I'm only in my mid thirties. Is this normal?

I need to decide ASAP cause it hurts like hell.
Pull that sucker. Smilie I had one pulled last winter that I spent over $2,000 on TWO root canals on. I really wish I'd just had it pulled to begin with. The process took five minutes and was a piece of cake. Mine was the furthest molar back on the top. I don't even notice it's gone. I'm 34... sucks, but it happens. Smilie

Not that I am a big fan on getting teeth pulled, but I would say if it's way in the back, it will not affect your bite much so just get it pulled. I paid $$$$$$$$$ to have a root canal on a back tooth and after a while, it did not take and they ended up pulling it anyhow !! Mad I was super pissed cuz I ended up paying for a root canal AND to get it pulled. It has not affected my eating or anything to not have that back tooth. HTH !!

See thats what I was thinking, cause this is for some reason my problem tooth. OK, glad I asked. I would be PISSED if I spent another grand and had to get it pulled anyhow. Looks like I am going to be without one less tooth soon!

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

It may sound like eating only 1.5 times more protein than carbs isn't very low carb however considering how many carbs are in the littlest thing it is quite low carb.

Oddly enough though something like cream cheese has 9 carbs to 14 protein so totally fine on my docs version of diet. (Sour Cream not so much)
Really nice explanation and comparison!

1 oz. of Philadelphia Cream Cheese has 1 gram of Carbohydrates and 2 grams of protein. A large bar of Cream Cheese is only 8 oz. But Mayo has none.

Something else to note if you are carb counting -- check the label on the low fat/ fat free versions, they are usually higher in carbs so you are better off with the regular version.

Ditch it if it's the very last molar. You will still be able to chew on that side. I had to have all 3 molars on one side taken, but I had implants to replace 2. As long as the other molars are good, one tooth will not make much difference, so save your cash for T!

I thought all the diet talk would show up where you have your thread (elsewhere) and not here. Guess not.

It's not that I don't need to join, but I'm not emotionally motivated to do it yet. Most of you have someone else to eat the extra crap you have in your house... not me. This is when I need Jillian Michaels to show up and intervene (BUT all my stuff would have to be donated and not just thrown in the trash). For you oldies, I look a LOT like Brandie that INAA posted about, but without the hairdo.

Kallison - did you get some rain checks for the candles, because the price goes back up to $6.99 tonight here? If so, PM me.

Sorry tn_native!! We are limited to waaaaay shorter posts in there; it's not quite like a regular thread....and right now I think Myluv said she isn't able to access it on her mobile like this thread so I think that is maybe some of it too Wink I do know how you feel though....a couple of my more immediate family members have been dieting and losing weight for the last 6 mos. or so and I just was *not* ready yet and it definitely was kind of hard to listen to them go on and on about it for awhile and I even got a little Annoyed at times. But I learned to kind of just squelch that to some degree (or try to politely change the subject) because as part of their journey they did need to share it with me and I truly did want to be happy for them - just wasn't ready myself yet! hug When you are dieting it does tend to easily permeate your entire life some days.

DH and I are both dieting & I feed my dd pretty healthy and I didn't really throw anything out. We ate up some sweets we had lying around before d-day and I plan not to buy a lot more, but I just plan to incorporate everything we've already bought into the diet and still buy what is free/cheap/etc. For instance, we have LOTS of Bagel Bites still - I've just adjusted and eat only the serving size accounted for on the box and incorporate that into my points for the dayDontknow Now the only difference is that they'll last a lot longer Big Grin

I like the diet talk. I have four young kids so I get very little interwebz time. It's nice to see a range of topics in one spot. Smilie I am not overweight, but I have been packing on the pounds much easier the last year or so. Hmm... about the amount of time I've been couponing. laugh out loud I also blame my slowing metabolism. I haven't lost my baby belly from my twins (3 years old) and I really, really want to. If you do move the discussion to the SG, could I get an invite? I promise to try and post more. Wink

Lastly..

A very Happy Birthday Lovetobee!!

Will let you know what the repair man says.

I had a root canal over the summer. It was also a tooth in the VERY back. I regret that I didn't just get it pulled...too much money for the d*mn root canal!
I am in my late 30s and have a TON of teeth issues...I dont get it.

Wow... I was going to try to catch up w/replies, but ya'll are sooooo chatty!!!

Thank you for all the great chili recipes and the idea about the V8.

I had to take my oldest to her guitar lesson today, then ran to WM to get an oil change and fix the tire. Oh. My. Goodness. 3 hours. Yeah - 3 whole hours with a 14 y.o., a toddler who was wayyyyy over tired, and a 3 week old baby. Faint

And I didn't have coupons... not that I saw any stand out deals anyways...

We got out at 5:30 pm and I came home. Been busy nursing, feeding the crew, and trying not to fall asleep! I'm so tired. Worst is that I never got to go grocery shopping - and we sooooo need some foodstuffs. I guess I'll just run out after DH gets home. *sigh* Frustrated tonight. Frown

Oh... and I haven't made DH any dinner nor do I have anything for lunch tomorrow. I have a MOUND of laundry on our bed that has yet to be hung/folded/put away, and I"m out of detergent (shockingly). I am feeling a bit Stress and kind of like a bad mom/wife.

OY....

I had a root canal when I was 22, on the 2nd to last tooth in the back. If I had been the back, I would have just pulled it. I had no dental insurance, so I guess part of me wishes I would have just had it pulled instead of the root canal laugh out loud

I don't have anyone else to eat the crap in my house, either. It's just me and I hate throwing stuff away (like the open junky cereal, etc), but the unopened stuff, I'm okay with donating.

I got a RC yesterday, sale here goes through tomorrow, so I'd like one more RC if I manage to make my way there.
