Bah... boring week/list. Frown

I have produce and *maybe* towels...

Otherwise, I need some creamer, dog food, laundry detergent and maybe some beef if it's cheap enough. Guess I should get some oatmeal too.

So...
Produce, towels, beef, creamer, dog food, laundry detergent, & oatmeal. Oh - also some notebooks if there's any left. Seems so boring.

OMG I remember that case! It was before I married and left the Charleston area. I'm glad they were able to solve this old case, and so sad for the man's family because it reopens those old wounds.

On one of the printable sites (I am sorry, I printed it and can't remember where it came from), there is a $1/1 Green Mountain K-Cups coupon. I used it at Harris Teeter yesterday to get a box for 4.49. Not a super fabulous deal, but I needed decaf. Embarrassment Other than that, I'm not sure of any deals, per se, for coffee. I know there were 1.50/1 Starbucks coffee qs in the inserts this past week.
Thanks but no Harris Teeter or Keurig....also wanted to thank tn-native, seems I forgot to quote her, but thanks for finding the link for me.

worship I've probably gained that. I've done horrible this week but I am trying to get back on track.

It doesn't affect your ability to use the food stamps. The coupons seem to apply towards any other non-food items thus your food stamps pay for non-food items which isn't allowed.

It has been reported that at least at Target what Audriannasmama said is true. HOWEVER, I would double check with your local officials if at all possible. The laws can vary state to state. I know I have a friend that works at Wags. She is on EBT and is always in need. I tried to tell her what I had heard about using the food Q's at T and how they appeared to get applied towards the non-eligible items leaving the full pre-Q food $$ eligible to be paid by EBT.

Thought she might be able to use that to her advantage to buy diapers, etc. Instead she practically threw fit in the store telling me how I was advising her of how to scam or defraud the system. I've never been on public assistance before (always just over the threshold) but I couldn't back pedal fast enough to get her to believe I had no idea that it might not be kosher to take advantage of the loophole.

She said in KS at least it is not even legal to buy eligible and non-eligible items in the same transaction OR to use ANY Q's on the eligible items.

I can kind of understand the state not allowing the mixing of eligible & non-eligible in one transaction but it blows my mind that they are refusing to allow the person to spend the EBT $$ wisely by stretching it out with Q's.

From what I know, it doesn't interfere at all and I only read of one situation from the T thread where (b/c of TQ's) that food stamps paid for non-food purchases so I wouldn't worry about that. There are classes around here teaching recipients to use q's to stretch the money further so I know it's allowed.

Oh wow. I never dreamed she was involved like that. I just figured she was a lure. Didn't really think about what the men might have done, too, I just figured he knew too much. vomit

I believe it is allowed here as well. My DBFF works for a non-profit that helps the community and low income individuals and she has asked me numerous times if I would teach a couponing class to some of the families to help stretch their ebt, etc.

Although I am fairly certain if they found out that the recipients were abusing the system so the ebt would pay for the non food items they mat take the foodstamps away from those people.

I bet you're right - BUT, technically, the recipient was just trying to save on food dollars. Certainly not their fault the register applied the discounts weird. That story I read in the T thread is the only time I've ever heard of that situation. I don't think it would even be able to be replicated again very often as it seemed like a fluke. Based more on TQ's than MQ's (which is what the poster was asking about). I dunno. It would fall under the realm of (unintentional) coupon fraud more than it would food stamp abuse I think.

For sure.
I am not saying the person was purposely abusing or planned to. I was just saying that if the recipient did decide to try and do this all the time they may want to be careful in the "just in case" kinda way.
I don't care where or how people use their coupons and money. That's their business and I would never try to butt in and tell them otherwise.Big Grin

I do think it is awesome that the people who do use EBT want to find a way to stretch that money even more.

Both. Don't they say the first week you lose water weight? I am happy, don't get me wrong, but I think the next few weeks will be "real weight".

I just read this and it's disgusting. I can't imagine one human being doing that to another, never mind doing it and then going to work and carrying on like you did nothing wrong. The poor man's family. This has to be so terribly hard to deal with.
