So I survived the volleyball games!!! Wink And the adults beat the varsity girls 3 out of 4 games. Not too shabby for old folks!! Can't promise that I'll be able to get out of bed tomorrow, though...

Now I'm hungry for apple pie...

What do you moms with young girls think of this ?

The reasoning of these other parents makes no sense to me at all.

sorry there is an ad video first

That is crazy - I would never allow my daughter at 6 to shake her thang like that. shake head But to be honest, I remember growing up, my best friend was in a cheer squad, she was probably around 8 or 9 at the time, and one of her cheers ended with the squad turning around, butts toward the crowd, and flipping up their skirts. They had athletic shorts on, of course, but it was still way too much.

Yeah this infurates me. we spend the first five years of there life teaching them the ladylike way of wearing a dress.

What does that nonsense have anything to do with go team go .

For them to kick this child off the team just shows me how far decency has declined.

I feel olllld.

I will preface this with the fact that my brother in his wife are/were both cheerleaders and they now both coach children/young children in cheerleading and tumbling at a private gym where this is not how they do things to my knowledge.....

I can definitely identify with the mother in that I would not want my 6-yr-old daughter doing that, which is a personal choice. But I also don't think the middle of the season is the point to question the coaches in a sport/industry that it kind of known for being more provocative like this....this is one reason I am hesitant to even have my dd involved in cheer at some point. And then on the other hand I'm not sure why the people in charge of the program don't just say "fine, we'll nix the cheer for this year and clarify our rules for next year" or something of the like. Or let the child be able to choose to sit out for that cheer or something. Surely there had to be a better solution than kicking her off the team?!

And *what* do the words to that cheer have to do with cheering on a football team??? laugh out loud Does go to show that as a parent you should always check and double check that your values match that of whatever you are enrolling your child in if it matters that much to you. This woman was obviously in the minority as far as the opinions of the parents went though - to me that is kind of sad. I am probably in the minority too, oh well Dontknow

Agreed on all points, I'm in that "minority" with you

That is why I would hesitate to put my daughters in cheer, as well. That, and the fact that cheerleaders are always the ones in the movies that are the mean ones and sleeping with everyone else's boyfriend. laugh out loud

Count me in "the minority" as well. Let little girls be little girls! They'll lose the innocence of childhood soon enough.

I tend to agree with all of you. I thought the coach was rather rude as well.

As a parent, I probably would have told them how inappropriate I felt it was and if they didn't change it, I'd pull my daughter out. They wouldn't have to kick her out, her ass would be gone.

Yeah and that comment that the cheer has been around for years so it wasn't offensive ...so has prostitution.

shake head I don't think so Frown I was more worried that I would buy it and get the cat the next day or something....then I remembered my Target is sooooo good about doing missed q's. I can't resist buying it the day it comes out. With dd's b-day in early Feb. and Christmas in late Dec. she gets lots of new toys and stuff within like a month and a half and nothing for the 10th months in between so I am a sucker for wanting to see her face light up when I bring home something new Big Grin And besides, Tink looks soooooo good on Blu-Ray on our 46" TV we got on clearance at T. last spring!
