Okay.. just read quickly to catch up. Just got home from DD 16th birthday party and I am exhausted! Do you think kids every appreciate all we do for them? It is alot of work

Things went well today. A couple of her good friends didn't show for the party, which I couldn't believe, but I think she had a good time anyway. Decorating, getting food prepared, serving, and cleaning up the mess has worn me totally out. I was on my feet so long that they are killing me.. I caved in and ate one bite of cake. A good friend at church made it and I wanted just a taste.. And I was so busy that I never had time to eat, so I ended up munching on chips, pretzels, sausage balls, and veggies while I worked. Don't wanna think about how many calories I had today.. Just gonna start fresh tomorrow!

I was worn out and my toddler was too when we left. She was ill and cranky, but I remembered I needed to get the Tink movie before it went off sale today and we were right beside target. I ran in and only got that one item. It just about killed me too cause my fav jedi was working..

Can't remember who asked about the toddler clothes at kohl's, but there is a pretty good selection of stuff in the 6.00 range. I saw lots of mix and match seperates by jumping bean that were on sale for 5.49- 5.99. I got my daughter some fall/winter clothes yesterday. Each outfit was under 1.00 total after coupons.
I was disappointed because I didn't make it back to Kohl's today. I never bought one box of kcups. I was planning on getting some tonight, but was too tired. I hope they go on sale again soon. I have a week to use the rest of my 5.00 coupons. And when I got home and checked the mail today, I had another 10.00/10.00 coupon for Kohl'sbounce So, there must be a new round of coupons out! I just used one this week that expired today or tomorrow, and now I have another!

Congrats Gator on the graduation. I know you must be super excited::
Awww I am glad it turned out great for your dd!! Kids never realize all their parents do for them ever.. no matter what!! Awww sorry you didn't back to Kohls but don't worry the shenigans will continue another day Wink HUGS!!

Ummm, actually up until a couple weeks ago it was three. We didn't do it on purpose....

The one on that side of the state is where we were living when DH went to work for the railroad. Within 6 months, promotion, had to move across the state. We didn't want to sell the house (a) in case things didn't work out and (b) it was our intention to retire back there. So, we rented it. This was 13 years ago mind you.

Obviously, the job worked out and now we have absolutely no intention of ever living back there. Yeah, we could sell it, but it would be a pain in the ass to do that plus we have had the same renter from day one. I'm not gonna up and make her move. If she ever decides to leave, we will probably go back, clean it up and sell it. In the meantime, it's been paid for for years and has caused us very little trouble. I think I have had 4 or 5 calls in all these years and they were easily remedied problems. We have been blessed.

Then a year and half ago hubby and I went to this house auction. We thought if it went cheap enough we would buy it to rent and we could use the garage. (Cause, you know the 4 car + 1 car at my house and the 2.5 car + 1 car at the other house aren't enough.Cool) Anyway, it didn't, we didn't. But we were riding around our little tiny town and there was this cute little house.... new roof, siding, huge lot, empty...

The price was ridiculously cheap but it needed work, so we bought it. We didn't get it done as fast as we wanted. Hubby was in a bad accident almost 2 years ago and it has slowed him down and I have had some problems. Anyway, we didn't finish, but we did sell it last month and still made a profit. Not as much as if we had finished it, but it was more than the money would have drawn in the back.

Would you believe we have actually considered looking for a place further north??? Crazy isn't it! I have always hated Iowa and wanted somewhere warmer. Well, we are both getting where we don't really like the heat. (Which doesn't mean we like winter either!) But we do like fishing some of those Minnesota lakes...... We are 47, so he isn't retiring very soon, but we want to eventually get something bought and ready.
I hope you are at least enjoying some decent cash flow and of course, you have built up equity in the houses.. so its great!! Warmer... like FL!?! So you can be with all of us when I move down there Wink
Quote from guybio :
That sounds like a good idea. Thanks

congrats gator on your degree

I had the most awful trip to Target. The LOD tried to tell me I couldn't use the $10 home bath coupon because the item was on clearance When I argued he said that Target would make no profit if he let me use it. : Crazy people
A cashier that I know even stated the same thing managers at Target are brainless.. LMAO

What coupons were you using at TRU for Pete's sake?!

:
OMG I did the Hasbro games B2G1 with the $4 off coupons.. so they were like 3ish for 3 games... then did Leapfrog stuff B2G1... it was great!! I loved the manager he was great.. he even stated that he loved mq's b/c they get full face value of the q's back!! YAY!!
Quote from gatorcater :
I think there is a facebook app to see who accesses your profile. Not sure about Twitter though. Never even been to their site.

I found these too! I also found mohawk rugs for $3.74 (75% off) but TQ beeped. Pushed through! Perfect timing as I just threw out my last kitchen rugs.

LOL. Although some people treat dogs as their babies. There is a on my street who dresses her maltese in a pink turtleneck sweater and paints its nails hot pink.

OK. Now I have read the Kohls thread but I am utterly lost as to how I shop. I have the $5 off coupons. You can only use 1 per transaction, right? And one can be combined with a % off? Anything else that can stack in store? Has anyone seen deals on 4T boys clothes? I am desperate need of warm clothes for DS and it doesn't look like T is going to put out a $5/$30 Q anytime soon.

So today is my official graduation. I am not walking in the ceremony, but I have my diploma. It really feels good but I have had NO luck finding a job remotely legal in nature. We are hoping DH gets an offer soon for a job in Tampa so we can get the hell out of Michigan before the snow starts piling up! Pray
CONGRATS GATOR!! I am so excited for you!! I hope your DH gets a job offer and trust me your break in finding a job will come soon!!

The Kohls coupon can be stacked with the 10 off 20's but they are kinda pricey on fleebay... and the % off codes...

Now onto animals.. I love my critters but the funniest thing I ever saw was in Target... a woman had a baby seat and she was rocking it...and there was a MEOW come from the seat...WTF!?! She was singing to the seat with a blanket covering it so you couldn't see in...then I hear MEOW again and so did her cashier.. the cashier said something about the sound and she uncovered the cat and told the cashier this was her baby and it was named a human name, I forget it now..and mommy gave birth to her on x day.... WTF!?! It was time to take her to the looney bin...
Quote from gt6mk31 :
I have two. I will send you my shipping address!

Well, congratulations on your big day! :So, what kind of diploma do you have.
OMG I have a dog but wished you lived closer.. I have 24 bags of pedigree dog food alone...

Off to Kohls again in a few min.!

Went to the Habitat Re-store yesterday. Did not buy much but we got a LOT of stain for $1.50 Big Grin Hopefully something that will work for the new kitchen table we will be making. We are redoing our kitchen partially at the end of Oct, early Nov. New countertops, sink/faucet, tile backsplash....went and got some samples of stuff yesterday - cannot wait!! Also ordered a new, more energy-efficient front door yesterday. Our house is gonna look quite different here in a couple months. Need to figure out how to re-purpose that old door into something useful Scratchhead

Oh, and down 1.3 lbs. this week! :
Great job!!!

The TV has been on DIY all day (when it's on), so it got me thinking, since I have new towels, rugs, and now a nice, black wood etegere for the kids bathroom, I should just redo the paint, floor, and countertop (very small bathroom). I was looking at Home Depot, and found this very cute Winnie The Pooh faucet [homedepot.com] (oddly enough, it's the cheapest one they have) for $32.50 I wish my kids were younger, I'd get it for them.

Edit: n/m, it's out of stock now
The single-lever one is still available though :$19.75 [homedepot.com]
We call that" project spread :around here, I bought a new clearance lampshade one time , wound up costing us around $3,000 everything just looked so tired WinkWhistlingnext to that nice fresh lampshade, hubby still hasn't recovered Wink

I miss those little newborn baby days, definitely don't miss the 24/7 nursing sessions (so it seemed).

We spent a few hours in the pool at the hotel since it was too stinking hot to actually go to Busch Gardens today. Tomorrow is park day. Wore the two boys out. Monkey seems to be a natural swimmer- bought him one of the class V swim float/ life vests on clearance at Target last week and he was doggy paddling- on his own! Needs to work on keeping his mouth closed while in the pool. He kept up a running commentary of everything he did- kick kick kick hi mommy etc.... lol

my bff went to ihop for breakfast w/ dh, 2- 8yr olds and 2- 2yr olds and spent 70 bucks. for breakfast!

diners are the best places for breakfast. you really get your money's worth.

ihop is actually reasonable for dinner if you are out and about and don't know where to go, esp if it's really late. like going to friendlys or denny's for dinner but i think they have a whole bunch of 10.00 complete dinners.

way better than golden corral we went to in fl vomit

i need a new siggy. the current one looks old and tired. and i want a more universal one like myluvjustice's. i esp like quotes. any suggestions?

i think my expanded target is limiting to one like tq per transaction
A while back my store told me 2 like coupons. I have been back again one since then and I just divided up my transactions. Then said something to that cashier and she just looked at me. But I still did multiple transactions.

The funny part is that I bought more of some free or nearly free stuff than I probably would have. I figured since I have to do multiple transactions, then 3 is a reasonable number - me 3, daughter 3. Soooo, we each might as well get 6 produce, 6 Suave, 6 Ravioli, 6 etc... Had I just been doing one transaction - I probably wouldn't have gotten that many.

Anyway, (boy, I have the gift of babble) just start separating into transaction of 2 like coupons and see what they do. More apt to do 2 without comment than 3 or 4.

Hehe, my doggy's name is Heidi. However, I can assure you, I do not take credit for birthing her. What do you think would happen if I took her to Target or WalMart? You see all these pics on POW -- goats, birds, dogs, etc. I just know if I tried to haul my critter in there I would get tossed out. Hmmmm, I could scream discrimination,Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) I suppose. Afterall, Heidi, is German.Wink
I wish you lived closer too. Seems like all I do is buy dog food and I never find any deals!

Years ago two friends and I were there for breakfast. They ordered coffee, I ordered hot tea. The waitress brought the little pots out along with cups, mine with a tea bag on the side. I put the bag in the cup and proceeded to pour my hot water. It was brown. I thought, oh, it's already tea, she brought me an extra tea bag.

Have ya ever had coftea? Yeah, well, it's not good. So, when she came back by I told her that my pot was coffee, not hot water. Nicely, it was no big deal at all. She said, "well I put water in it, that's what was in it". Ummmm, then apparently she has the gift of turning water to coffee. She was just nasty and kept insisting that it was water!

i was told in the 80's that *coftea* was one of the offerings at bakeries and the like in hong kong. never took off here but the bubble tea stuff did. dunno why. i really don't like drinking and chewing overpriced starchy, chewy flavorless black balls at the same time .

i don't like using the hotel in-room coffee pots for heating water to make tea b/c the hot water always tastes like coffee. i have a coil but i don't really like it. so i bought a cheap hot water pot and would bring it w/ me on vacay. until i lent it to bff b/c she was always boiling hot water to make formula for her twins and always complaining how long it took on the stove but too cheap to buy an electric kettle b/c she wouldn't need it when she didn't need to make formula anymore. even though her mom babysits 4 days/wk at her house and makes tea every nite. she has issues w/ her mom. it was a cheap plastic one and just couldn't handle being used that often. you would have thought she would have replaced it, seeing that she sold the exact same one in her store but no, sigh! and i've never seen it that cheap ever again. i've gotten tired of lending her things i never get back.

i like hotels which include breakfast and have coffee and tea in the lobby 24/7. when we get back to the hotel, i always get a cup of tea or coffee on the way to my room.

i think my late nite snacks in front of the computer is why i don't eat breakfast. not hungry.
