I'm certainly not suggesting that. I don't think others today were either, but I could have that wrong!

Quote from Phrozt :
My philosophy has nothing to do with this.
It absolutely does, IMHO.

The beginning of both knowledge and wisdom is to realize how little knowledge and wisdom we all have!!!

"As for me, all I know is that I know nothing!!" Socrates had it right!

To say you have no tolerance or hate for stupidity is to completely miss out on perhaps the first step towards knowledge and wisdom.

I already understand that about you. Wink
You have been paying attention!!

That's making a value judgment. Mine does not. It simply says what the key to life is. Whether you posses wisdom, or knowledge, or the ability to use the two together is an entirely different matter.

It's essentially the same as saying, "the key to making a cake is by cooking ingredients." (by = through, cooking and ingredients being the factors involved).

You may or may not know how to cook. You may or may not have ingredients. However, possessing the ability to cook, possessing ingredients, and actually cooking those ingredients, is how you make a cake.

Another subtle part of the philosophy is that, much like a key, you must apply it. One could possess all of the knowledge in the world, and may have processed it through all of the wisdom in the world. However, if you do not apply this ultimate enlightenment, the door to life is just as closed as an actual door would be w/the key to open it sitting on a counter.

I can't disagree with that sentiment in the slightest.

Even if you are a Frog!

I won't disagree with any of this because it's a much longer and deeper discussion than a few sentences will allow for, even though it totally skirted most of what I said.

This is infinitely true though. And I hope you reach a level of application you're satisfied with.

But remember - I don''t matter in any of this discussion. I'm just a person on the internet!

I know, hes clever. I think he picked it up from when he was potty training. He would get embarrassed/upset if he peed his undies and I would tell him not worry, it was an accident and that we will keep practicing, etc..

I saw it before your fix... but I waited anyway cuz I didn't want to fix it Stick Out Tongue.

I think the whole misunderstanding came from where I dropped my philosophy. It was in a response to your idea of wisdom being to realize that we're all stupid. I wasn't saying my philosophy was an *answer* to that, or saying it corrected that sentiment at all.... I was just sharing it in general Stick Out Tongue.

Depends...

Like the other day I told her we needed to go upstairs and she said, "why?" I told her I needed to change out of my clothes.

Another time, I said something but I forgot what and she said why and I said because I said so.

Yes, but DH is in the process of buying a shot gun. Evil

Rofl2 He reminds me of my nephew (he's 3). He's so polite sometimes but then he can be so naughty.

His b-day was last Saturday and he told his aunt that he didn't like her present. laugh out loud

My answers tend to be "why do you think?" Of course, my little guy will usually ask whole questions.... over and over and over. So for those, it's "what did I tell you the last time you asked that?"

He's getting a pretty good memory though Smilie.

Just so long as he says it in a kind and compassionate way.

Otherwise, he'll make his mommy cry!!

I'm one of those annoying people that asks a lot of questions. DH told me when I was pregnant that he hopes that our DD isn't going to be like that. She has a lot of my characteristics. I know once she knows more words and phrases she's gonna be a chatterbox.
