The reason I ask is...I was just down in the basement cleaning it out. Our air conditioner is old and it leaks. We had a great flood in 2004 and haven't had many problems again until this year. We had the air guy come in and he said the tray had overflowed (or something along those lines) and not to put it under 68 when it was so hot out. So we didn't and it was fine for a month or two. Then it started leaking again even when we have it set above 68. Luckily this is the basement so it's not a huge problem but we don't love it happening or anything. The air comes out cold and if it wasn't for the leaking I'd think it was fine. I've noticed lately in the trail of water it's more slippery. Like not just water slippery but like there was oil.
So when I was cleaning tonight I sat down on the steps for a second and looked over at it and from that level in the light I could see an oily substance. Like pretty colors if that makes sense. I didn't know if it's freon or antifreeze (to home air conditioners have that? Sorry if that's a stupid question, lol) or what. I'm gonna call the air guy tomorrow but was just curious if anyone knew in the meantime.
