Oh, I'm sure it was a decent deal at that price. Prepaid, right? For future reference they refer to that phone by another name although that model number you gave me helped!

As best I can tell, it doesn't support the two services you mentioned as chat/IM. It supports them for e-mail! From the manual it supports "• MSN® Hotmail, • AOL® Mail, • Yahoo!® Mail, • VZ.net Mail"

Unless you've ever pulled off sending an IM (not a text or email) with that thing, it's looking like the solutions I had in mind won't work.

It does support some IM. But none of the big services that I can tell, like AIM, MSN, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, etc.

From the manual it says it supports chat for the following - "• MySpace, • Facebook, • Photobukt, • Zannel, • Powerchat, • Friendz, • Lavachat, • Best Pix, • More"

I'll have to look into those. And also explore some other ideas I had!

You have to download the app for which ever IM you want. On prepay it's considered texting. That is why you have to get a text plan or it's ten cents a text.

My phone says Samsung on it. Dontknow It is a wonder that even gets online. Roll

Oh it's charged as text? No, screw that then. That would get expensive quick!

How is data done on a mobile prepaid? How quickly do you have to recharge? You're here a lot sometimes!!

If that's all too personal, you don't have to answer. I'm just curious. The only phones I am familiar with are more recent "smart" phones and they deal with things far differently than this type of older tech.

It is a Samsung! It's the Samsung Smooth! That number is the actual Samsung model number but it's got a name too, with Verizon. A lot of companies remarket shit like that.

I've had a couple MSI motherboards and video cards. They had a little bit of a bad rep on their motherboards in the early 2000s, but I think it was blown out of proportion.

Yeah.. I took a chance on some of their mobos and GPUs and I loved em. Cheap, reliable a lot of good features, and usually they came w/TONS of free crap/games on discs.

Not to mention their box art was totally cool Wink.

I've been trying REALLY hard to think of a comparison... but not really coming up w/one. MSI is a pretty mainstream brand, it's been out quite a long time, though usually it's associated w/parts, not actual comps. So, as someone who's been building comps for over 15 years, I'm very very well acquainted w/the brand, as I'm sure most ppl who look at parts are, and it's just funny to hear that people don't know about it.

I reaaaally wish I could think of an example of why it's funny...

But it's definitely nothing against you at all.
