Did you watch?
For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

And the legal paper "Molotov" was slightly annoying...1) light a pad of paper on fire like that, and 2) try and throw one like a Frisbee..you are going to get completely opposite results.
But good story parts.

i thought i would like a Carol/Daryl episode more than i did this one. it wasn't bad, but i felt like they squandered many opportunities to give us more insight on the characters, relegating their conversations to short, terse back and forths (don't say that's just the characters; Daryl gave quite a monologue to Beth about his upbringing). nice to see Carol is still concerned with bettering herself, and i'm really looking forward to when she finally lets it all out about killing Lizzie. we were reminded Daryl is still a good guy deep down (or maybe he's just sweet on Noah...?).
the recurring smoke flashbacks were interesting, but it felt more like a setup for something in the future than something that gives an immediate payout. i'm looking for a scene in the next few episodes of her seeing a towering column of smoke over what she thinks is the church or the hospital. i've been told the comics are fairly nihilistic throughout, so pounding home the idea that everything you love will eventually burn would fit in with that. or they might have just been a tie-in to the name of the episode and her comments about people being "burned away," in which case that was a lot of screen time for something that dialogue did nicely.
for me, the stories are progressing a little too slowly to do dedicated episodes to each setting. last week, i said i thought the saga of the bus group could have been compressed to allow a split with this one, and after seeing this week's, i still think both could have been done well in one 42-44 minute episode by switching back and forth. thankfully, with Daryl and Noah getting back to the church, we can combine those two settings, and if Abraham and Co have two brain cells to rub together between them, they'll also be back at the church soon enough.
i won't echo specifics, but this was the worst episode in a while regarding nitpicking. i normally just make a small mental note when something ridiculous happens, but this one had some real doozies.
Well, if that is the shot you wanted...then you shouldn't have used so many shots from the scene that actually allowed physics!!! Don't show the ground out of the windshield and then nullify that as a possibility...
Something else I didn't notice the first time through, when Daryl sees the van through the scope is it hanging off ass first, then when they get there it is engine first. They should have just left it butt end first the whole time...I could have believed the weight of the engine was enough to help level it out.
But then they wouldn't have been able to get that cool shot with Daryl swinging on the roof of the van to kick a Walker.

The Priest situation is cooked. He's a cat in the comics but not much is made of him there.
The Abraham/Eugene thing is cooked. Way too melodramatic.
Rosita is being given more depth. She's there in the comics but really isn't all that significant or developed. Not until way later.
The hospital thing is all made up so just another device to keep the survivors in a certain locale for more than day. We've seen this before.
Even I wish they would just get on with it already and get to moving to DC.
