Seriously, WTF is with the "I'm screwing a relative of yours" kind of banter? (I'm assuming it's banter, I have no idea what else you would call it.) I see it amongst a lot of guys, and especially in the lounge.
I have never seen girls do this.
Do we, ladies? Are we ever like "Oh yeah, I gave your dad a rockin' good time last night" or whatever?
So WTF? Is there some kind of pleasure in this? Is it an ego trip? Does it make you feel better to pretend you slept with the dude's wife/gf/sister/mother/whatever?

I don't think you can assign a logical explanation to a your mom joke.

It has nothing to do w/actually doing someone's relative, and is hardly ever actually used to insult someone. In fact, it's really funny when people ACTUALLY get offended, because "mom jokes" have been around forever. It's just a quick, generally unimaginative jab at someone utilizing someone that most people would be extremely attached to (their family), and it certainly has NOTHING to do w/the lounge specifically.
