We're going over to my dad's (who's just down the street) and my brothers and their girlfriends will probably come also.

My dad will make his famous rice dressing, and I'll be cooking just about everything else. laugh out loud

So what is on you guys' lists for must-have dishes at Thanksgiving?

Someone mentioned mac and cheese to me the other day, and I think that's common, but we have NEVER had that at any of our Thanksgivings the entire time I was growing up. laugh out loud

well, some sort of stuffing too and mashed potatoes and bread. no pumpkin pie, of our turkey day group, i'm the only one who likes it.

and i would eat the whole pie. so no.

i'll get a slice at a restaurant sometime laugh out loud

we go to a friends house every year. we make the big stuff, everyone else makes sides and sweets. then we go swimming, then watch "a christmas story"/ watch football. after dark we go to the local robot house.

robot house is this muslim guy who puts up a huge christmas display in his yard, with giant inflatables, many thousands of lights, a dance floor, bubbles, weird video...lots of fun

I LOL'd at the "eat the whole pie" part. LMAO

I can't imagine going swimming on Thanksgiving - I know it's gotta be pretty warm for that, but here it's always in the 20s and sometimes even snowing. Roll

And the rest sounds fun! Football is always big with the boys in my house. And of course... they're ALL boys. laugh out loud

The robot house sounds awesome!

Wow! Chicken cornbread dressing sounds yummy

I've never done potato salad for Thanksgiving - it's a "summer" dish for us, I think.

Everything sounds good!


Our list is:

Turkey
Classic stuffing with bacon
Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes with marshmallows
Cajun rice dressing
green bean casserole
a cooked vegetable that varies every year
butter garlic rolls
My mom's green jello with pineapple and nuts

And then dessert is always

pumpkin pie (with NO spices)
pecan pie

And then ice cream to go with the pie Big Grin
