We all like to buy stuff. We all like to give stuff. Secret Santa is all of that! Woot

*The Rules*

You need to have been a member for at least six months with 1000 posts OR 100 reps.

This isn't done to be mean or exclusive. However I know the biggest reason I've had fun with Secret Santa in previous years is because I've known the person well enough to be able to know what they'd truly like and be excited to hear what they think about it. If you don't have enough posts/reps this for this years Secret Santa, we hope you can join us next year Smilie

You need to sign up by November 12th.

To do this please email me at [email protected].

Please write your screen name in the title so I can keep the addresses sorted more easily. In order to have your name added to the list of participants you need to send me your address. As with every year, this address will only be seen by me and the person who is sending you the gift. Under no circumstances will your address ever be given out to anyone else. If it's found someone has given out another person's address they got from the Secret Santa they will be banned from this and future Secret Santas.

*If you are uncomfortable sending me an email/letting me know your email address, you can PM me. Please put Secret Santa in the title.

I can only put your name in the list of participants once I have received your shipping address.

Spending limit is $20.00 plus shipping.
I know many of us have had some hard times with money in the past year. $20.00 is the limit but you do Not have to spend that much. From what I've seen in the past, some of the best/funniest/most thoughtful gifts haven't always been the most expensive. Just send what you think will make the person you're sending the gift to smile.

Your gift must be shipped by December 11th.
You must get a delivery confirmation and a tracking number just in case the gift gets lost in the mail or if there is any confusion about if the package has been delivered or not. Please send me that tracking number. Four weeks of shopping should be plenty of time to find something for your person.

You will need to fill out the Secret Santa questionnaire found at the bottom of this post.
Please fill this out as much as you can. It will make it easier for your Secret Santa to find something you truly like if you answer it completely.

So you're excited to participate. What happens now?

1.) Email me or PM on or before Friday November 12th that you want to participate. Include your shipping address. You will not be added to the list unless I have received your address. There will also be a list in the wiki of people who are participating. Please include your name there as well.

2.) You will see a questionnaire at the end of this post. Please answer those questions and make a new post with those answers.

3.) Soon after the November 12th cut off date you will receive the name and address of the person you get to play Secret Santa for. Click on the person's name in the wikipost to be taken to their questionnaire and what they've said they'd like.

4.) Get it all ready and ship by Saturday December 11th. Make sure to buy the delivery confirmation and tracking number. Please email or PM me that you have shipped it and the tracking number. USPS gives it free for online ordering.

5.) Please email or PM me when you have received your gift.

6.) Jump up and down with joy. A present!! You can post in the thread you received it and if you opened it you can share what you got if you like.

7.) After Christmas Day we can all tell everyone who we shopped for. It will also be updated in the wiki. Please try to keep secret as much as you can who you are shopping for. Wink

*FAQ*

Can I open the package as soon as I get it or do I need to wait until Christmas?
Some people can't wait to rip into the package and others want to save the excitement for Christmas Eve/Day. The choice is completely yours.

What if I'm going to be out of town around the time the gift will be arriving?
It's understandable that this time of year people travel out of town to see family and friends. If that's the case, please make sure to have your deliveries held at the post office/UPS/etc. If you know in advance you will be out of town, you can contact me with the dates you'll be gone and I'll let your SS know. They may be able to adjust when they ship it so it will get to you while you are there.

Crap. I wanted to participate but now I can't for whatever reason. What do I do?
Life happens. We understand that. However please let me know this as soon as you realize you are unable to participate this year. This is very important.

I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to ship in time or I completely forgot I needed to buy/ship the gift by December 11. What do I do?
Let me know right away. It is very sad to hear about someone who's waiting everyday to see when their gift arrives only to not have it come. If for some reason it is shipped out later, I'll inform the person you are shipping it to that it may arrive a little late. However shipping it late is not ideal and I'm sure we will all be able to meet the shipping deadline.

Wow, I read my person's questionnaire but I still have NO idea what to get them or I have a question about something on their list. What should I do?
You can either email/PM me and I can contact your person and ask them for more info. You could also PM someone you know is their friend and ask them to ask your person for clarification on their list.

Can I request to be a particular person's Secret Santa?
No.

Can I change who I'm supposed to buy for once I receive their name?
No.

I was involved in previous years but didn't send a gift because I forgot/got busy/whatever. Can I enter this year?

I'm sorry but no.

Autumn, I know how bad you are at answering PMs. Will you actually read and answer them for Secret Santa?
Yes. I cleared out my PM box and as of now it's empty and ready for PMs. I'll check it several times a day at least.

The Questionnaire

Have fun!!

Almost killed DH last night. I had a stack with cookies and a tin of popcorn to take over to neighbors for Christmas.....he had to take the popcorn tin out of the bag, move the Christmas card, the tin of cookies in order to put his hand in and sit munching.....and didn't know it was a gift for someone else...???
Told him if I couldn't find a tin in the grocery today he would have to go to wallmart himself because I wasn't going back.
Luckily for him I found one today where I was....

Hell, just tell them that you made the popcorn and they woudn't know how much was there to start with.

That is, if DH actually left much in the tin.

Yep, three Chinnies! Their names are Annabelle, Gabrielle, and.....Dude! :c ool: Annie is my dominant Chin. She is the boss! Gabbie is her sister, very sweet and shy. I rescued them several years ago from a bad home, and have loved them ever since! Dude is my little boy. heart He is usually pretty calm, but now and then he can go wild! I got him at a pet store. I really didn't want to get a pet store chin; I liked the idea of doing animal rescue. But I was there to get food for the girls, and I happened to see that little face, and I was hooked. Oh, and I also have a Robo hamster. Her name is Twinkie :he art: Robo's are the world's fastest hamsters, for anyone wondering :l ol: And no, they are NOT robot hamsters, like some people seem to think when I say "Robo". It is short for Roborovski.

OK, that is my SS thread animal hijack of the moment :blu sh: Sorry, I get carried away talking about my crew. I love them all so much!

Oh, and BTW, I am totally quoting you when I put my siggy back:
Hey finzz did you know everytime someone spell checks SD tries to change your name to fondled Roll

hysterical! :l ol:
Sounds like a fantastic crew, you should be proud, sounds like so much fun and love. heart DH keeps telling me we can't get pets because we travel to much. But maybe it wouldn't matter so much with a chinnie, I mean if we take the motor home we could take a chinnie with they are small. Or we could have a neighbor chinniesit and just take the cage and food to someones house. Well maybe... if a chinnie travels well. Dontknow need to research more, a chinnie has been on my pet wish list since I was a lil girl Girly

I already had a pony, a little Shetland pony, she was so cute but she got really mean when she was old so we gifted her to a rancher who had lots of horses.

I like the idea of rescuing a chinnie much more than buying one from a pet store. Those Robo hamsters sound so cute!

Spell check is kinda fun, very interesting to see what SD wants some members name to be. lol!!! Some are pretty freaking funny! Like yours fondled finzz.

Yeah, I mean I know sometimes we can get some awesome deals here, but I don't know how the SS who put together the gift with the external hard drive and more. Like others mentioned, I've only seen the price for it drop to $20. But then what about all that other stuff??

And then there was another gift with several things from Victoria's Secret, which are usually not cheap - and then there were other things along with it, too.

It's really cool though that people can get such great deals. Sometimes I miss out, or my office blocks certain websites. :sad walk:
I know bath and body and VS often have coupons and gift with purchase, VS also often has stackable codes, those are fun and those are always make awesome gifts since I don't get out to do those deals but I see them posted and want to take advantage. Then there are the price mistakes and stackable codes that pop up on SD and those deals tend to die quickly but if you here and get in on them you can get amazing deals.

Quote from MissyMooMoo :
I'm terrified of bugs. I keep telling her that the only reason I put up with the vomiting is because she is so good at tracking down any bugs that wander into the house. She corners them and hold them in one place until I can get there with the bug spray.
How cute, I need a cat like that. I hate bugs too, I had one cat who loved to catch moths and eat them. She would jump up to get them or climb up on furniture/counters and jump and catch them. It was crazy how good she got at it.

So..my SS wrote in the card that this is not everything, he/she is going to send something else when I get back from being outta town (which SS- Jan 3).

But HOLY MOLY look at my awesome gifts. The kid was not included.. but she asked to be in the picture after helping me set it all up.

Also, please note 3 boxes of swiss miss are missing because they are at my office : P

Will someone wiki this for me? I'm not sure how.
Now these are some deals that look very familiar to me, must shop Target at least. Scratchchin

I've attempted to add a pic here, don't know if it will show since it's my first attempt to do so. (woo-hoo, it worked!)
Lots of my favorite candy and some pretty Christmas ornaments.
Thanks for the fun. : D
Those are so pretty, I have 6 or 7 angel ornaments but none of them match.

Quote from dzap :
I tried going to Walmart last week and it was already busy as fark. I wanted to buy ONE THING, and took me forever to get there trying to navigate all through all the people and all the carts. It was insane. Thankfully, most people at Walmart buy more than 15 items so the 15 items or less lane had only one person :w oot:

I would not DARE to set foot in a Walmart 2 days before Christmas. That is asking for trouble.
Yeah, me either not going there, no way!

Wave My receipt from last night "You saved $768.xx" Roll
Target registers add all coupons, temporary price cuts, clearance savings, sale savings, and gift cards earned into that figure.
Most of it coupon stuff BUT I got DH a Logitech Harmony remote out of it. I paid about $150.xx on a Target GC. I am also returning two Sonicare toothbrush's since I got the wrong ones so that will be just over $100 credit back to the GC. I had a coupon for almost everything in my cart, or two, since you can use two coupons on one item at Target, one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon. Makes for some free swag, lots of it. And sometimes you get paid to take stuff, when the TQ and MQ give you a bigger discount than the price of the product you 'make' money to pay for other items in your order, like a Logitech Harmony remote.

here are the runs:
INITIAL RUNS
Quote :
20.00 = 4/$10 x 8
15.92 = $1.99 x 8
1.90 = tax @ 9.5%
----------------------
37.82
- 16.00 = $2wyb x 8
- 8.00 = $1/1 mq x 8
- 1.00 = $1onyo x 1
- 9.00 = tvq sets x 3 <- potential tax shield good for ~$0.90
----------------------
$3.82 oop or less (8 12pk | 8 wt)
LATER RUNS
Quote :
10.00 = 4/$10 x 4
7.96 = $1.99 x 4
0.95 = tax @ 9.5%
----------------------
18.91
- 8.00 = $2wyb x 4
- 4.00 = $1/1 mq x 4
- 3.00 = tvq sets x 1 <- potential tax shield good for ~$0.30
----------------------
$3.91 oop or less (4 12pk | 4 wt)
OR

Quote :
20.00 = 4/$10 x 8
15.92 = $1.99 x 8
1.90 = tax @ 9.5%
----------------------
37.82
- 16.00 = $2wyb x 8
- 8.00 = $1/1 mq x 8
- 8.00 = tvq sets x 2+2 <- potential tax shield good for ~$0.80
----------------------
$5.82 oop or less (8 12pk | 8 wt)
there's also a store q for the wheat thins that makes the initial three 3 for $5, which takes off ~33¢ each. so that's why my runs came down to $2.83.
