Sherlock on BBC One and PBS ++++Season four to air in January++++

Sherlock is a absolutely brilliant TV show from the BBC. The three episodes aired on BBC One in July/August and PBS in Oct/Nov of 2010. It did so well in fact that they are going to air three more 90 minute episodes in the fall of 2011. So if you have a chance, watch this show. It's really amazing, we're watching the last episode of season one right now.

Note: It's a modern day Sherlock Holmes and is set in London.

This show frustrates me so much. Just when you're starting to get into it, it's over. 3 episodes? Seriously? Most miniseries are longer.
It's a British thing, they normally do much shorter seasons (series) than we do in the states. Plus Moffat does Doctor Who too so I'm guessing he's overloaded with work. We watched series 1 and 2 again as a run up to the new episodes, it was great fun.

Meant to say also, as you watch the Sherlock episodes, with all the cutaways and switched camera positions in a lot of the scenes, think of all the extra work that entails. Wouldn't want them to do it any other way though, it's part of what makes this version of Sherlock so unique.

It's one of the exceptions to the rule. I suspect they've done that with the DW relaunch (and a few other UK shows) in order to get the US market to air the series. Before the relaunch DW was 6 to 8 episode per series.

But there are still a lot of UK shows that only have a few episodes. Broadchurch was only 8 episodes, Sherlock is only 3 episodes per series, Life on Mars (brilliant show) was only 8 per series, etc.

Watched the season debut last night. My wife watched the previous seasons and loved it, but this was my first episode. I enjoyed it. Will watch the previous episodes on Netflix.

Sherlock has definitely grown on me and BC does a good job of capturing the oddity that was SH. So Kudos to him for making that character very modern, yet still be characteristic SH. The episode last night had some of the best humor I have seen on modern British TV - well at least I thought it was humor Wink

If you need a Benedict Cumberbatch fix, check out Parade's End. It is very different from Sherlock of course but it was a very good series.

Sorry, I missed this post when you did it, been having some computer troubles, kept locking up, for some time now. Finally convinced DH to get me a new one. Whee

Not for streaming on Netflix, don't know about the DVD's. It was a BBC2 show in 2012 and on HBO here in 2013. Looks like the episodes are still available on the HBO website, not positive as I wasn't logged in. We watched it last year. It's also available on DVD on Amazon. It's a five part mini-series, btw.

Did you find it on TV or did you set it up on a wish list?
