I don't know how national gun prices are at Walmarts, but mine has had the Mossberg Maverick 88 for $174 for a while now, and now I saw they have a Remington Arms Pardner Pump synthetic version for $159.99.

A Maverick 88 is arguably the same (more or less) as a Mossberg 500 but with a different safety switch position. This might not be fully true, the Mav does indeed have parts made in Mexico then assembled in the U.S., while the Moss is U.S. made and assembled, and people can argue about it if they want and look up more info, but, I think you'll find most people will say a Mav 88 is a quality gun in the Remington 870/Moss 500 price range.

Meanwhile, I'd put a Pardner Pump up against the other common shotguns, too. They're built like a tank. (which could be a bad thing if you want a lighter gun.) I'm not up-to-date on the whole current who-owns-what company now, but, in a nutshell, it's a Chinese copy of the Remington 870, Chinese firearms were then banned from import to the U.S. due to a trade dispute, then they were imported through H&R/New England Firearms, then Remington bought the company and now sells the 870 clone alongside the actual 870. Walmart calls this one the Remington Arms Pardner Pump.

I'd personally take a Pardner Pump over, say, an 870 Express, regardless of price, but I don't have any experience with this possibly-new Pardner Pump version sold at Walmart. I would assume it's the same or similar to the regular version that's been around for years, but just thought I'd mention the possibility. It's also a synthetic, not wood version, so if you don't like evil black guns, then I'd say, "Why not?"

Good price. Didn't know walmart still sold guns anywhere.

Always has to be someone.
Yup, everytime. Why is it any thread involving firearms brings out the loonsConfused

Anyway, this does sound like a good deal. I paid $320.00 for my remington 870. I'd like to see how these guns would compare.

Not all but I know for certain the one in Circleville, OH does. nod

I'm a gun owner, must be a bad person I guess?

FWIW, I'd take my old 870 any day over my fancy auto loaders. I've never shot a Mossberg but seems like a nice price.

I own this Pardner Pump and like it. I bought mine for $150 two years ago and the gun dealer told me that 150 was the retail price. Good home defense for a Chinese gun.

those are decent prices.. im pretty sure you mean NEF(new england firearms) rather then Remington..
although if i remember right Marlin bought NEF, Rem. bought Marlin so i guess you could say Remington but not really.

btw the NEF is a copy of the 870.. there is a few minor differences though but most parts will interchange with little to no modification.

to bad none of the walmarts in columbus ohio sell guns.. well besides airsoft/paint/bb.. they us to have muzzle loaders but not anymore i dont think.

i have to drive 15-20 miles to get to a wally world with guns Frown

Yeah, I don't think the Wal-Marts in my area (Phoenix) sell guns.

That's pretty remarkable considering you can carry in a bar without permit, buy ammo at liquor stores and shoot someone for looking at you funny.

We do have Big 5, which sometimes have smokin' deals, particularly Milsurp.

I have a Mossberg 500- great gun and the #1 law enforcement shotgun for the past 10 plus years... mine is actually a law enforcement model. 870 is a great shotgun also, have one of those too. Sounds like reasonable prices for cheap chinese guns... but personally, I'll pass.
We used to have those cheap guns here before our Attorney General made them illegal- they are on par with a chinese made SKS (which almost everyone has handled)...If you want a cheap shotgun check gun shops for used stuff- I bought a Remington model 5 for under $100 a couple of years ago.

As would I. Hell, I'd buy two or three at that price in a heartbeat.

Remington probably gave them a great deal and a lot of support for training/armorers/returns/repairs.
Worked for Glock.

I wouldn't since I wouldn't want it anyway, bounce (got an old 1100 sitting 10 feet from me, though... so pretty...), but I don't see a single 870 at Bud's for less than $300 (shipped), my favorite little hardware-store-with-a-good-price-on-guns-section sells the Express for around $265, and I think Dick's Sporting Goods had them on sale last month for $265 after rebate. You're doing pretty good if you can get one for $200.

Maybe they get a good deal on them. Various agencies use Glocks, but that doesn't mean I want one. Anyone who wants to can pretty much do a blindfolded mouse click and hit a good review of a Pardner Pump. If anyone questioning them has never picked one up in person, try it. You might just like it. Definitely a top choice for when you run out of ammo and need to switch to clubbing the zombies to death.

As for calling it a "Remington Arms Pardner Pump," I called to verify the model since I saw it a bit ago, and the sales person told me "Remington Arms Pardner Pump."

I'd buy it just to have a 'beater' for that price. You definitely don't buy them for their looks. Stick Out Tongue My 870s aren't the express models. Wink
