January 7, 2011, 3:13 am: System Notice: This thread content has been automatically archived from another thread which reached post limit, and will be preserved for reference and archival purposes. The discussion should continue in the original thread

Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Indiana had a 3.8 earthquake today

Earthquake
A total of five states in the U.S. were shaken with an earthquake today, registering at 3.8 magnitude. The earthquake's epicenter was located about 50 miles north of Indianapolis and started at around 7:55am on Thursday.

Lasting only a few seconds the earthquake was roughly 3 miles below the surface. The Indiana earthquake was powerful enough to be felt in Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

I up dated FireFox to 3.6.13 now it works with marlboro mobile and mvarios iPhone app
It isn't an app, it's just a hack to the Firefox config to send the wrong info. When you connect to a web site your browser send a lot of information (you can see all the different things sent here [browserspy.dk]). It pretty much all has to do with the capabilities of your browser and OS so the website knows how to send stuff to you. One key thing is called the user agent string. This tells the site what browser, version, and OS you are using. In Firefox you can go into the config and set an override string so that you can spoof any browser/version/OS.

There's also a javascript user agent string and that's a little harder to spoof (there is an addon that can do it). Fortunately the Marlboro sight just uses the user agent string to determine if you are on a mobile or not.

Wow..I am not sure what string's mean, but that is funny you brought that up because I was wondering last night what they meant.I was checking out in deal talk,GATV super fan's and they had been talking about string's and getting their account's deleted,I guess from the contest that they are playing and someone want's to boycott alot of stuff and call the company's, someone lost million's of point's.That is terrible.....If you want to check out what they are talking about start at pg.209 post 3126.That would have been bad if that happened to all of us for our contest.Hope nothing changes in the rule's or with Marlboro when the next contest come's out.

A string is just a string of characters, letters, numbers, whatever. I'm not sure what they're discussing, but it's not the same thing. I'm talking about the browser user agent string, which is the string of characters your browser sends to a website to identify itself. For example the user agent string from my browser is:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20101230 Firefox/4.0b9pre Firefox-4.0/4.0b9pre

You just have to understand that when you go to their site they are determining your platform by information they get from you. If you know what you are doing you can send any information you want.

And that works for other things besides user agent strings. For example, if you use twitter or Mobile Facebook you know you have the option to send your location. This is based on the geolocation API. But you can spoof that also. I use an addon for Firefox called Geolocater that lets me pick any point on a map and send that as my location.

Yes, but it goes great with wood paneling, and it is so friggin' cool. I mean, does anything scream cool better than the Jungle Room at Graceland?

I think not!
