Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

I remember reading an article a while ago that said it had to do with fairly archaic gambling laws -- so contest winners in Canada usually have to answer a few arithmetic questions or something to be eligible to win.

We've got laws like that in the states too -- when I used to live in NC two years ago, I remember that there were technically no public bars. A bar had to either serve food or be a private membership club, so depending on the place and enforcement, you had to get a membership card after your first visit, always sign in as a guest, or ring a doorbell to get in.
Then they should feel right at home with this one!! You have to do a math problem just to sign up! I just kept messing up until it gave me an easy one! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

This is true, found mine & deleted it....

There's a site called Spokeo that's a new online phone book
which reveals a lot of your personal information:

They show such things as your address, photo of your house and
estimated value, age of you & your family members, estimated
income plus other personal information.

Go to their site, http://www.spokeo.com/name?g=name_bs_spokeo01 and
enter your name to find the URL of your page.

If you don't want this info available to the whole world...go to the
Privacy button at the bottom of the page to remove yourself.

Yep, we like those little Totino's pizzas for lunch....and the Totino's pizza rolls...those things never last around my house.
If you microwave them you can roll them up like a burito and they are like giant pizza rolls or calzones!! Big GrinBig Grin

TY. We were surprised. We feed them as soon as they get off the bus. That gives us a better chance of having a good day.bouncebounce
Oh yeah....food works!
That was my favorite part when working in a Headstart classroom....breakfast as soon as they arrived.
Started all over again with the afternoon group....lunch right away, a little group b.s., then recess.
Ah, to be young again! I miss nap time & recess the most. Big Grin
(though I do get a nice nap in whenever I get the chance)

I don't think we're like "regulars" on any of the forums.
A lot of us sorta bonded during OWTW, and the friendships & camaraderie have continued in the Funny Farm.
Glad you felt comfortable posting here. Sometimes, we all need a shoulder to lean on.

This is probably overkill, and I am sure he just got caught up doing something silly, but I would call the PD and just ask if your vehcle was in an accident or towed for some silly reason!! I know what it feels like to worry like that.. Been there before!!
I live in missouri and the highway patrol puts accidents up on their web site within minutes also most states have a website like vinelinks. It logs who gets arrested what time they are released and where they are

Its good information to hold on to. When my son didnt come home on time I was always worried and didnt want to keep calling the police station so I find the vinelinks site by accident. My neighbors BF had just been arrested and she didnt know where they were taking him. It had only been 10-15 minutes and the information was already on the wbsite

I just looked up the Canada contest thing out of curiosity:

The wikipedia article is short, and here is what it says:

Skill testing questions (or STQ) are a legal requirement attached to many contests in Canada.

The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Criminal Code of Canada bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, licensed casinos, and charity events. Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally consist of a mathematical STQ.

The Promotional Contest Provision of the Competition Act also states that prizes are to be distributed "on the basis of skill or on a random basis[1]."

The most common form that these questions take is as an arithmetic exercise. A court decision ruled that a mathematical STQ must contain at least three operations to actually be "skill testing"; for example, a sample question is "(2 × 4) + (10 × 3)" (Answer: 38). Enforcement of these rules is not very stringent, especially for small prizes; the player may not be required to answer the STQ to claim a prize. Anecdotally, getting the answer wrong is also often not an obstacle to claiming a prize. The questions are also becoming easier.[2] For contests held in other countries but open to Canadians, a STQ must be asked of any potential Canadian winner.

They changed American laws to cut out the miles and Camel Dollars because if you have to buy something to get something for free then its not free. I like it better this way because I dont have 5 cartons sitting in my fridge because I couldnt wait!! LMAO
