OP it really depends on the age of the person being bought for, what size handbag needed, and what their style is
ie Fendi has some cute clutches for $275-ish but their normal sized handbags can range up to ~$1,200 easily

LV is horrible-y known for being sold as knock offs just because their price point on most anything is no less than $700

I have 2 Coach purses.
Although I never paid $300 for either, one was a $350 purse I got on sale.
Though I would gladly pay $350 if I had it for this purse that I know will last me for 5+years.

Try browsing Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Bluefly's websites. Neiman's also had some cute ones on sale last week with additional % off. Watch their sales you can find really good deals sometimes.
I have a Fossil bag that was from Ross for about $20 that has lasted 3 years now and is just fine.
