On a different topic, I have a lot of cat & dog food that I thought I could sell at my yard sale. No luck this time. I had it listed online at $4.50 for boxes of Cesar (I have 30 boxes), individuals are 30 cents, & $5 for boxes of Friskies Selects Indoor (23 boxes), individuals are 35 cents, with price breaks for buying in quantity. Are my prices bad? I have thought of donating. Would I do better to donate & get a tax break, or cut the prices & keep trying to sell?
I need to find someone that'd trade a carpet shampooer for pet food.
Where is everyone?
Who has their christmas tree up already?

I had my small silver tree up...until my cats acted like stoners playing with the new shiny thing in the room.

My problem: I've got a stye on my left eyelid. I didn't realize that's what it was, and the eye doctor didn't address it. He addressed my complains of my eyelid sticking to my eyeball during the night, and the feeling that something was in my eye. All tests were fine. He gave me some liquid gel eyedrops to use, as he thought perhaps my eye could be a little dry.
Today I google stye, and discover ALL my symptoms match: a scratching feeling under the eyelid, as though something is in the eye; sensitivity to light; excessive tearing (watering); and sensitive eyelid.
The only thing suggested was a warm compress for ten minutes, four times a day.
An antibiotic cream might help, too.
So... any antibiotic cream? Are there any other cures/aids? I can barely stand to go outside, even with sunglasses. I have to type with one eye closed, as the computer screen light hurts my eye. The stye has been coming on for a few weeks now. At times the pain has been excruciating. But this light sensitivity is fairly new, and it waters all the time.
Any help would be greatly, hugely, immensely appreciated.
FOR STYE:
1. hot compress 4-6 times a day
2. do not use washcloths or towels or such. nothing reusable. a stye is an infection, so you want to use cottonwool pads, sterile if possible. if not, get the cotton wool squares or circles that are available for makeup removal. use a clean/freshly washed bowl or cup and heat filtered water and then dip one cotton pad. clean, compress, discard. new pad, dip in water, so forth. compress gently. no rubbing, or pushing, or scratching.
3. do not touch the eye with dirty hands.
4. do not scratch the eye when it is itchy. do not rub the eye.
5. use clean tissue to wipe your eye when watering, gently dabbing. the watering is really your tear ducts at work, trying to clean out your eye. it is normal AND healthy. do not rub. just dab the tears to keep them from going down your cheek.
6. use fresh pillowcases every day.
7. do not dab on tears from infected eye and then dab the other eye. you want to isolate and avoid cross contamination as much as possible.
FOR LIGHT SENSITIVITY:
1. the dryness is likely excarbating the sensitivity. so you are going to want to keep the eye moistened at all times, and in short intervals. more on that below in dryness section.
2. Do wear sunglasses at all times. it will not only protect your eye from dust and keep it from drying out too much, but most importantly will prevent damage from the light.
3. Clean/disinfect your sunglasses before wearing each day, and after each compress session.
4. Monitor your eyeball color closely. If you notice any white spots on your eyeball, or any greying around the edges or such, you want to get to a doctor ASAP. because that means the infection may have spread to your cornea or beyond. that is serious. so inspect carefully each day for even the most minicule changes.
FOR DRYNESS:
1. The most effective - and gentle - relief for eye dryness I have found is Refresh. Just the regular Refresh drops, not the special formulated ones for lasik etc. Refresh doesn't have any "addictive" chemical. it is sterile. and can be used multiple times a day. Refresh comes in bottles, but there is also a box of single use sterile vials. 30 and 50 to a box. the 30box is the sensitive kind - free of preservatives. that is what I would recommend. that way you use each vial and throw out. no contamination. there are pdf qs on the refresh site. or send me your email and I can send the pdf to you.
2. Use Refresh multiple times a day. after every compress and a few times in between is a good idea.
3. You mentioned extreme dryness, with eyelid sticking to eyeball. Has that always been the case, or been like that for a while, or just with this stye? If it is a continuing problem, have you been waking up with eyelashes encrusted with dry yellow/white stuff and getting stuck? if so, that may be a case of blephritis, where the tear ducts get blocked. a regular routine of twice daily compresses (morn/night) will help keep the ducts clean and regular Refresh use after each cleanup will help alleviate the dryness. At any rate, dryness like the kind you mentioned is not something you want to play games with - it is prime territory for scratching the cornea, and also makes the eye much more susceptible to infections because it allows bacteria/viruses to set up shop rather than being washed away.
finally a few notes on meds:
1. antibiotic eye ointments can be very harsh. it is also very hard to keep them from seeping into the eye, which results in lots of irritation and can even cause a flareup. i would proceed with caution on that.
2. there are some great homeopathic meds for styes. that's what i ended up having to take eventually. if you have a homeo pharmacy near you, you might want to check there for a practitioner. someone here mentioned similisan - i haven't tried their homeopathic eye drops for styes. but i have tried their earache relief drops and they are excellent, so i have some faith in their product for what it is worth.
sending out prayers for your body to feel calm and you to be scare-free ASAP...
separate note: anyone have reviews on shark steam mop, please? worth getting? and the "snowy ad" price of $36... good price? rock bottom price? meh and there's always k's?

after that i can tell you that if the peelies were applied correctly, you should be able to see where the peelies are when you look in the mirror.

FINALLY hit the big weight milestone this morning
.
Speaking of babies, my sweet little nephew pulled his feeding tube out the other night, and began taking every feeding by bottle! He will go home today or tomorrow!!!! with follow up visits to every specialist in the area, trying to figure him out. He will still need to get transfusions as long as his platelets don't stabilize.
Please don't post anything on facebook. We are waiting until christmas to tell my mom and dad.
I ordered something for my secret santa today.
I knew this amount a long time ago and it didn't seem as big of a deal then as I now have to write the check. If for some reason I have to take this exam more than once....

We also do a DVD or two -- usually whatever was last years new big box office draw from the year before. I just can't remember if there was anything other than that. They will never top Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation or Santa Clause the Movie. (But I do like Christmas in Connecticut)
If anyone else wants snow, pm me your email address.
Had some spotting scares over the weekend but it has subsided and hopefully gone for good. Why does pregnancy have to be such a rollercoaster? I wish I could skip this part and go straight to the part where my sister has her baby.
Jo - Don't know what Meesh did for you, but I'm glad she made you cry happy tears!!!
Ya Meesh..
Happy Birthday Bunnies..
Teri - Hope all is going well with you and your DD is good.. getting close to that wonderful due date..
Rachel - Oh my, I can't believe your already to have your baby, really it does seem like just yesterday you became pregnant. Good Luck wishing you an easy, fast delivery.
Oh.. and for those who have their tree up already.. jealous..
Someone told you to check the wiki..
wait a min, gt, did someone really tell you somethig in deals?
what drama did i miss this time?
sincerely,
your confused, but still friendly, neighborhood booby twatwaffle.
