I agree about the scams. I feel the same way, now, but long ago I always believed them. Then I saw a news story when we lived in WA State. A TV crew followed one of the guys standing on a corner begging for money. Long story short, it was a scam.
Recently, I was going into Giant and saw a lady frantically searching in her purse. When
I got out of the car, she got out, said she couldn't find her debit card and asked me if she could have $5 to buy milk. Being a good Target person, I gave her a $5 gift card and told her that milk was on sale at T 2/$5, which was conveniently just behind this grocery store. Don't know if it was true but even if it wasn't, not much she could do except use that at Target.
when i first came to the target thread i was like
this was over 10 yrs ago, but iirc, i overheard somebody talking about panhandling and they said they could make 100.00 a day.
in the subway stations there are used to be the regulars. one time i offered a bag of grapes and he said no thanks, i don't eat them. ok, obviously not as hard up as you think. if he really couldn't eat them, he could have traded them w/ somebody else.
one time there was a social worker on the subway and after a panhandler had walked by, she told everyone that you should never give them money. there are plenty of social services to take care of them.
L2B I meant to say if you're looking to stock up on turkey, do it before Thanksgiving. People still buy turkey for Christmas but the price/lb is not as good after Thanksgiving. I always get 2-3 extra birds to have throughout the winter.
One of my local Targets has become a 14 pain. They now have to pick the price of the item instead.
Other than that I had a fantastic time earlier.

I can honestly admit, I have never cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner.. Between my family and my inlaws, we usually do 2 meals, and take a couple of side dishes/casseroles to each.. So, I really can't remember buying a whole turkey but once maybe.. What is a really good price per pound?
Guess I one day I will be in charge of the meal since my kids will have families and I want them to come over and visit me. I can't believe they really could have spouses/children within the next 5 years
I like that this 11/27 batch will be good on Black Friday. Stores should be so busy that weekend that there should be plenty of registers open and we won't be noticed so much doing multiples.
Eek! Do you have a freezer thermometer that you could leave in there to check the temp. or is is possible someone left the door open on accident and it got shut hours later? That's happened here with the fridge that is in the garage.

oh what fun it will be to have to empty out entire fridge and freezer, and wipe this one clean and move all the stuff stored above.... and then clean a whole new fridge and freezer
and i guess i need to go buy ice and a cooler to keep all this while we do the transition cos the new thing will take time to cool eh?
not to mention i'm saying all this as though a new fridge will just arrive when i snap my fingers. here i was thinking it's time for a new stove, because the oven has been acting up and running at a higher temp/burning foods/cooking unevenly. i guess now we need both.

Overview Of The Proposed Settlement
A proposed settlement has been reached in a lawsuit involving Kellogg, the company that makes Frosted Mini-Wheats. The Lawsuit claimed that Kellogg falsely advertised that its Frosted Mini-Wheats cereal improved kids' attentiveness, memory and other cognitive functions to a degree not supported by competent clinical evidence. Kellogg stands by its advertising and denies it did anything wrong.
The Court did not decide who was right. Instead, both sides agreed to a settlement. By agreeing to a settlement, the Parties avoid the costs and risk of a trial and the Class will get compensation. The Class Representatives and their attorneys believe that the settlement is in the best interests of the Class Members.
"Class members may seek reimbursement of $5.00 per box of the Product purchased, with a maximum recovery of $15.00 per consumer."
