Smilie Thank you. I think I will just slow it down and not panic or try to do it all at once.

*sigh*

I just don't feel "right" - does that make sense? I should probably go to bed I guess.

I can't believe next week is thanksgiving! Yikes...

Rachel - CONGRATS!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see your beautiful bundle of joy! Yeah you had it on Meesh's B-day heart

Lania - Sorry about your DD --- I think it sounds as if it is a clogged duct and others have given you great advice on that. I hope she feels better soon!

Flu - Congrats to your hubby! Tis a good thing!!!

Ank - HUGS HUGS HUGS feel better!

Jamie - Crossing fingers & toes that everything comes back alright!!!!! You are a truly wonderful person ---- oh and so cool on having so much to donate as well! I only have a couple of bags but I was happy that I was able to do that. And hey .... if any killer coupons for toys come out (I missed out on all the Hasbro in October or Sept or whenever) then maybe I can do another bag or two Smilie You give us a goal to which we can aspire!

Qqueen - GREAT to see you!!! HUGS

I don't know about the padding ---- but here is the weirdest shopping trip ...

I went today and bought 5 glade (red & purple) the cashier tried several times to use the $3/3 coupon and it would NOT accept it ... kept saying that the value of the coupon exceeded something. She returned them to me. They were the FIRST coupons I handed to her so my total was over $100 - no issue with padding.

I bought 9 TGIF meals & 10 reach dental floss & other non-coupon items.

The TGIF MQ & TQ worked JUST FINE! The Reach MQ beeped of course, even though it is for the right item - she read thru and accepted it as the screen just asked her to verify the item was there each time.

We got to the end and I had my total - swiped my card and the whole transaction disappeared???? She tried to retrieve it but it was GONE!!! It didn't crash the system - it just disappeared. She got a manager to come over who went in the back and after about 15 minutes came back and said that the entire transaction had been voided and had to be rerung. I returned the glade GC and we pulled everything out of the bag and rang it all up again ...

This time it would NOT take ANY of the TGIF coupons --- it kept saying coupon exceeds something or other --- so she manually entered $2 for each of the 9 TGIF. This time no GC was issued for the 5 Glade (but I was so confused I didn't realize that til I got home.) The Glade still would not go through --- same message sas the TGIF. She did manually enter 1 of those. The Reach MQ beeped as always.

So what the heck???? Anyone ever had that happen? So weird!

PS - I hate mold/mildew .... spent the last 24 hours removing everything from a basement room including carpet and all --- I am itchy & wheezy ... and after I have done another scrub with bleach I am going to try and paint the walls and floor to keep the moisture out that comes in through them .... anyone had any success with this?

Dia - do you have a dehumidifier? You may want to run one down there. Any cracks in the foundation? Is waterproofing up to date?

dia very tired so not going into detail, but generally just painting will not work. the paint will start peeling/bubbling eventually because of the moisture. sounds like whoever did the insulation work in your house didn't do it right/didn't install the vapor barrier correctly before putting up drywall.

there are special coatings you can put on to create a moisture/vapor barrier so that the moisture does not permeate all the way through. but that's only part of the solution.

another thing you can do is get small circular plug vents and install them between the studs on the outside of the house. that should give the moisture an escape route, rather than getting sandwiched behind drywall.

and also, if you have mold/mildew in the basement, you might want to have an expert come in and look and make sure it is not behind the walls also in the insulation. cos you don't want to be breathing that nor do you want to lug it all over the house. mold in a home is not something you want to fool with. at all.

i have major mildew/mold allergies - there's a face mask with a fine filter that you can get at home improvement stores and use for reno/demo work. i highly recommend doing so.

I do run a dehumidifier - but in the spring/summer it can't keep up .... there are no HUGE cracks but some small ones. I am sorry I don't know what you mean by is the waterproofing up to date?

My plan is to paint the walls & floor with the Killz anti-mildew sealant. Then a second coat. Then I am getting that Epoxy stuff for cement floors *they show a happy person easily spreading the thick stuff on the floor * it is supposed to fill in the cracks and be thick enough that it leaves a smooth surface that you put all over the floor and up the wall about an inch or two. I don't know if it behooves me to let that dry and do a second coat????

Anyway - then I would paint the wall with a nice colored paint ... and get a throw rug for the floor.

My concern is that I do all this and it doesn't stop the water coming up. (Not like a huge flood of inches and inches ... just wet puddles.) I can't dig out the house and have them reseal the outside as it would cost in the tens of thousands and the house (which is about 70 years old) is just not worth that investment. I am trying to make it liveable without breaking the bank.

Thanks for your reply -- I also have terrible allergies --- I realized that I need to go and get one of those masks before I do more work this stuff is killing me! Not literally I exaggerate - but it is making me feel seriously ill LOL

I think the inital scrub on the floor with the bleach helped - maybe Smilie

The room I am working on has a cement floor & cement walls on the bottom half of the wall *the room is half underground* the top half of the wall is above ground. I can rip out the drywall and look behind it ... I am guessing cement walls at the lower half ... which I thought I would paint with the Killz and then put that Tyvek moisture barrier cemented to the wall *after it has been bleached/scrubbed/dried/painted with the Killz) then I would put in insulation in a bag and put up green board which I would also paint with the Killz. Then the rest of the procedure I explained ... do you think that would do it?

That's the waterproofing. And yes - very expensive! Have you gotten several quotes - and recently? Prices on things have come down because folks are looking for jobs to complete.

Unfortunately, that's the only way to permanently stop it. Frown What you are doing/planning on doing will help, but it will eventually start to be wet again.

OMG dia!! Check your cc to make sure they didn't charge you for the first transaction that got "lost" b/c I had a similar situation like that... target registers suck I swear!!

On the mold... do you use it all the time? We had a mold renovation in last year... and they tested the mold of course, it was black mold... but to me the house would take toooooo much to fully make mold-free and right now we are dealing w/ it. There is some kit for mold removal that we bought.. but never used. Crazy I swear how crappy this mold stuff is. Make sure you are wearing a mask and wear old clothes... and throw them away.. it is VERY dangerous. Sorry..HUGS!!

Yep, we're pretty happy. Its kind of a bummer, because his company let his TS-SCI clearance expire just this past May. And then they found out in June that this new contract required just the secret clearance. grrrrrrrr... Oh well, at least its done with for now. In about 18 months, he can try for the polygraph again, and I hope he does. That way he can get in with a family member at a ... um ... agency that cannot be disclosed. laugh out loud Which would be awesome.

Thanks!!

Oh my word, that would make my poor aching head just about the happiest thing EVER!! I feel like such a dunce doing my runs, because keeping track of the overage, the gift card padding, the gift card deals, ugh, ALL of it just makes my head hurt! I've kind of just been flying blind, to be honest. So to cross one of those headaches off, that'd just be the awesomest ever.

So ... I went to our Target's Starbucks to get the BOGO holiday drinks. The barista tells me that you have to have a postcard (all Gold members got it). Um, nope, that's not what the advertising said. She encouraged me to call Starbucks because of the false advertising. So ... I get home and immediately call Starbucks to find out what the deal is. The CS rep says no, no physical coupon is required, its for all customers, but perhaps its only in actual Starbucks stores. He pulls up ALL the info about the promo, reads through all of it, and discovers that no, its supposed to be valid at all licensed stores, which means every Target store should be participating. He is sending me free drink coupons, which is all fine and well, but what about this Starbucks? He says he'll start the ball rolling to inform the store, but that it probably won't be done until after the promo is over. Um, what good is that??

So ... I get off the phone with him, and call the Starbucks at this Target. The barista answers, and I let her know that I just spoke with Starbucks CS and her store IS supposed to be participating. She then asked me for all the details of the promo - they had not received ANY information about it at all. Faint She thanked me and they will now be participating. Oh my gracious. Why does a customer have to be the one to set people straight???
YAY!! On the clearance for your dh!! That is wonderful news!! Target has become wayyyyyyyy more confusing then it used to be.. it makes me so sad how easy we had it a year ago... but now it is a freaked up science at best. OMG I am so not feeling SB and having to fill them in on any promotion as I always think they are going to look at me like I am talking greek lol

I hope to be on more so I can hear all about you guys!

Doesn't it make you feel so good to do things like this. I just put 2 awesome gift boxes together for kids to be sent to my son's school that they will distribute to those less fortunate. I loved it! And it was all goodies from slickdealing...

Morning, everyone! Today's another busy day. Lots of shopping to be done! Now if only the Target cashiers will cooperate...

Meeshe, I am sorry hubby didn't cooperate for your birthday. Sounds like you guys need a nice date night, without any kids, and talk about how you feel without any distractions or interruptions. hug At the very least, *you* need a break! Take care of yourself, girl.

So I am now hosting Thanksgiving dinner for my family and my sister's family! I am a little nervous, but mainly because the house is a wreck and nothing I can do about it until after my flea market is done tomorrow. I haven't even shopped for any of it. Faint Haven't even bought the turkey. But there's only going to be four adults, so it won't have to be a big one. I'm thinking 8-10 lbs. Does that sound right?

Also, the big news for this week in our household - hubby got his clearance!!!!! This means his job is now secure (the new contract required everyone to have at least a secret clearance), and now we just wait for his boss to come through with the raise, which will most likely not be until March or April at the earliest. But that's ok. We are doing ok, not great, but ok. I'm just happy we have the clearance - it was looking dicey actually. They were investigating some supposed incident from a couple years ago, and *nothing* happened in our family at that time. The only thing we can think of is something was going on with another family member. Anyway, its done and that monkey is off our back.

Off to print coupons, get dressed, get the kids dressed, and run out the door!!
OMG I hope your shopping was very successful today!! How much are the turkeys around you?? As you could make a larger turkey.. and then use the rest for turkey sandwiches the next day, etc. Sending you lots of hugs and WW!!

laugh out loud You sound like my husband. When called last night (he was out of town) first thing he said was, "I hear our yard looks like a winter wonderland". I was telling him that I had intended to see if I could find info on the box to call and ask them to send me beaks. He wasn't particularly optimistic about that but said, "no big deal, we can make beaks and scarves". Apparenly, his idea is to carve penguin beaks out of styrofoam and paint them yellow. So, now I get to add "carve beaks" to my to-do list. Oooohhh, come to think of it. I think I have some styrofoam that will be about right. Just opened a couple boxes of Christmas candles with a tray thing that had styrofoam blocks at each end.

When we tiled our basement shower, we bought the cheapest little electric wet saw that Menards had. It was $80 and it worked great.

.
OMG it sounds awesome... did you do your beaks.. we need pics!! I am jealous lol Can you spread some of your Christmas decorating cheer over here?? HUGS!!

Sorry that the weather is abusing your hard work.. It sounds so nice.. I love Christmas decorations. My DH is great about doing the tree, but won't do outside decorations. One year we had lights in all the windows, but that was a one time thing. Last year I got some of those spiral trees, but I think he did something with them and I can't find them now..
I would love to get a nice nativity scene for the yard!

I still needed padding today. Sadwalk I had $20 in GCs and as soon as my OOP was $40, the MQs started beeping and prompting for price when cashier hit accept anyway. He entered them as $3...register beeped that coupon exceeded value and would not budge.

I had a wonderful new team member today at checkout. I almost thought he was going to be too new to be trained when he asked me where to find the GCs. But, he passed with flying colors! Cool
Thanks for the report, guess they still have some tweaking to do.

Quote from HDDVDTV :
From what I have read it is only the Curel Gift Card deal that does not require padding. I know that is what I bought. I only had 2 Curel in my transaction and my total was less than $5. and all coupons came off. I had one of the smaller Curel and the TQ had to be K1'd.

Would T fix one GC deal and not the others? Does it have to be programmed one at a time?
When I read about the Curel working, I hoped it meant Glade would work too. But this is Target, you just never really know what's going on!

Spent the day reading TCC, cleaning, and trying to get some Qs ready for some Target runs tomorrow. Hope DH and the family cooperates and I can go alone for some quick and fierce shopping.

meesh, your DH needs a kick in the pants. How dissapointing, but a familiar sounding story. I think he and my DH are similar in lots of ways.

Rachel, congrats on the baby, how exciting! Get as much sleep as you can, sleep when the baby sleeps.

I think the Curel needs some padding, I had a small order with some Curel and while the Curel MQs went through one autoed for $1.32 and my Ca[ri Sun MQ would not work at all.

the epoxy may not stay on the floor if water is coming thru. i remember doing a test b4 putting Ucoat It on my garage floor http://ucoatit.com/pgs/main.htm which fyi- gets yellow patches if sun shines on it. i should have gotten a darker color and maybe put the ugloss on but otherwise i'm very happy w/ it. if i ever sell the house, i would put another coat on and go up the concrete that's at the bottom of the walls.

i think i had to tape a piece of plastic to the floor and seal the edges all around. after a couple days you lifted it up to see if the floor was damp or wet. see here-

Applying Epoxy Floor Paint To Your Concrete Garage Floor: Test Your Concrete

Lift the corner of a plastic bag that's been taped to the garage floor for 24 hours. If it's dry underneath, you can proceed with an epoxy coating. If you see moisture under the plastic, don't coat the floor with epoxy; water pressure will break the bond.

have you looked into french drains and a sump pump? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_drain
my cousin had them installed. i don't believe it will cost in the tens of thousands, only thousandsEmbarrassment.

i would recommend getting some estimates from some waterproofing companies. of course there will probably be some hucksters and then people who don't know what they are talking about. but if enough people say the same thing, that will probably be the correct solution. depending on what the consensus is, you may be able to do some of it yourself.

i would just hate for you to do all this work and then the floor start peeling and mildew growing and it had all been for naught. i would get some professional advice b4 i did anything.
