nod I feel the same way. When all of my friends were raving about "The Secret" I wanted to gag. However, gg's review of the other book has convinced me....

it's about just about everything you want to get done/wish to do/enjoy doing etc.

so for example, the book has an example about the author wanting to watch more opera and wanting to travel around europe but not getting around to either, and how she wrote about it and then things started falling into place in the strangest way. now i'll tell you, when i read the book i kept saying yeah right. but knowing that if we don't give things a chance, then well they'll never be, after reading i figured i'd give it a chance, and lo and behold for 2 years in a row i would write things for 2-3 months out, and then i'd look back 3 months later and all those things had happened!!! and so i kept going and going and going and that stretch of several years changed my life. i have fallen off that wagon, need to get back on.

but my point is, it can be anything: losing a weight, finding a mate/boyfriend/girlfriend, making friends, socializing more, having a steady income, finding a different job, improving some health aspect. whatever.

read the book and you'll see what i mean. and suspend disbelief when you do. or attempt to anyways. resistance/cynicism is just fear of being disappointed.

Big Grin
You talked me into it. Amazon had a copy for 6.17 and free shipping. DH's job situation is so damn stressful, he is wearing down fast. I hate to complain about a job that's bringing us an income and benefits while people are losing their jobs, but my husband's health, etc. are suffering.....Frown Time to write some things down....

G'morning my friendly TCC meanies...

DH has been nominated for the highest award in is company - it's a national award! I'm so excited and proud of him. The recommendation was so wonderfully written and so nice. Almost made me cry and I'm half tempted to get it printed on nice parchment and frame it for him. Also, this week, his supervisor said he was extremely impressed with DH. The last 2 mos. of the year are really important and they have to push hard to bring in/close as much business as possible. Because of that, DH has taken a very active role in chasing down accounts instead of "managing" or coaching his team. In spite of that, his team pulled all their numbers and then some. His supervisor said it's a testament to his leadership ability to be able to pull such a thing off (as in not be as active at the supervisory part, yet still have your team perform at top levels.) We are hoping this may translate into some consideration for higher positions/wages. :pray DH is finally being recognized for his hard work! I'm so proud of him. heart:
That's awesome! congrats to him!!!! You should frame that. What a nice, from the heart Christmas gift Wink

Wave good morning, trying to pop in some from work, it's been so busy here the past month. Hoping it slows down some during the holidays (but will probably get busier). I 'think' I've caught up enough to do some shopping, now I have to get my q's in order.

I have read The Secret and I would not consider it a 'self-help' book. It is essentially about the law of attraction. I watched a movie on a similar subject about quantum physics called What the ^#%$ Do We Know. HERE [amazon.com]
Good to know! Won't bother with Archer Farms! Big Grin

Oh, yay!! Don't you just love it when your hubby gets recognized?

This is so strange because something very similar happened to me yesterday. I was feeling down and sad while looking @ job listings thinking I won't find anything fulltime and thinking I needed a change/an answer. I decided I really need to go back to school. I went to look to see when my "priority" for registering classes at the community college was and it was yesterday morning!!! I got all the classes I wanted. Then a little while later one of my old coworkers sent me a message saying her work was hiring fulltime and I should go apply. Pray it all works out! For you and me!

That is awesome! WTG ank's hubby!!!!
Woohoo! Sometimes you just have to sit and take it in for a minute, how things just work out perfectly and you know it wasn't anything you did to make it happen.

Had a nice quick run - just needed marshmallows but of course I had to add other things in, since I was there. nod Still lots of jammie shorts to choose from!!

My second NYC TQ beeped, although I had two nail polishes in my order. Not sure why.

I'm not a religious person in the traditional sense of the word, but I do believe in a loving God who hears and answers prayers. nod Even when they're not necessarily voiced as such, I believe He hears. I have been praying for about a week that something would work out with our finances because working deals to get gift cards is wearing me to the bone. Various doors have been shut here and there and I just couldn't see where relief would come, in a way that wouldn't disrupt our family life too much. Well, last night, hubby got an email from the company he worked part-time for earlier this year (they restructured their schedule, needed fewer employees and he got axed) and they need part-time guys again!! Completely out of the blue, and yet will totally meet our needs in every way, from a direction that I never even thought of. For me, that is God's answer to our dilemma, and one that I would never have dreamed up myself.
nod Agreed. That is awesome about your dh being able to pick up that PT job!! I cannot even count the times that God has sent exactly what I needed exactly when I needed it.

I just remembered I never posted the before/after pics of the re-done kitchen! Facepalm So here they are:

That looks so awesome! Well done!! And I especially like all those K-cups. Big Grin And I think I forgot to mention - at the Bloom store that was doubling dollar coupons, I found Folgers decaf! Love me some inexpensive decaf for when I've overdone it on the caffeine! laugh out loud

Nice to see wonderful things coming together for so many TCC peeps! I received the most wonderful handwritten note in the mail from my new boss (start on the 13th) Really cements the feeling of doing the right thing!

Anyone know what is going on at e-junkie? Can't get any Kohl's q's, and on the bay they are outrageous! Committed to buying a bunch of little stocking stuffers for the Santa group at church thinking I could pick them up there, and now am in a bind. Any ideas?

when i was in school, i was told that the more senses you involved when you studied, the better you would retain the info. so you shouldn't just read, you should read it out loud so you could see and hear the info. that's probably what labs are all about. not only do you see and hear, you touch and maybe smell too. but unless it's cooking class, i wouldn't taste it Wink.

i think this is the same effect. you don't just think about what you want, you write it down on paper so it has a stronger effect on you and your actions and you react better when opportunities arise.

You mean I'm NOT going to be president? Sadwalk

I'd be an awesome president, btw. As long as this country is in debt, let's rack up some more Big Grin Wink

And, yes, cynicism is indeed a fear of disappointment. My poor psyche can't take any more disappointment this year, so I do my best to deal.

And on another thing, shenanigans at Sephora today bounce

They've been sending out $15 GCs to beauty insiders and I may have had a few of my email accounts signed up (I was tempted a month ago to do a whole bunch, wish I had now). Supposed to be for $15/$40, but they're going through at any purchase- so I've done some $10 purchases, plus $5.95 shipping Big Grin
