Once upon a time, my kids had a portable DVD player. Don't think we got rid of it when it moved, but is one of those things I haven't come across. I will ask the boys if they know where it is, and if so, I can mail it to you!

Okay.. This I definitely have experience with.. although, mine were totally different from the others I read.. I found it easier traveling with a BF baby.. When my oldest DS was a baby, he was bottle fed and it was much harder for me.. Keeping bottles, mixing formula, trying to keep cold things cold and then warm them was alot of work.. He would half finish one and then we had to dump the rest in order to reuse that bottle, and worry about keeping things clean. And I didn't like to feed him in the seat, so I usually took him out of the car seat and stopped to feed anyway.
We traveled to Arkansas when my last DD was 3 months old and then later at 11 months, and she was BF both times. The trip is about 11 hours in the car. I found BF not that bad.. When you have 3 other kids, you are used to stopping frequently anyway. Every 2 hours or so, sometimes longer, we would stop and DH would let all the kids get out and stretch their legs and potty while I snuggled the baby and BF her.. Then, in about 15 minutes or so, she would be done, and I would hand her over to him for a diaper change while I hit the potty and we were on the way in under 20 minutes.. We also timed it so that gas fillups, drive through trips, etc, were around BF timenod It seemed to help her because she wanted some attention and cuddling every few hours anyway.. after we snuggled, fed, and got a dry diaper, she was good for 2-3 more hoursSmilie
Now for the toddler..Last time we traveled was 2 months ago and she was 2 and a half.. For her, a DVD player was a great help.. But also we took her tag reader and a few books, some coloring crayons, books, colorwonder markers, etc..

I agree.. They have skinny looking mannequins in the stores too and the plus size clothes always look good on them, but when you put them on a fat body.. no so much..

Buy a few things at the $1 Tree and wrap them. Give one to your 3 y.o. every so often to open and play with. You could draw a map with the points along the way....kinda like a treasure map. This also helps them "see" how much long till we get there. It makes sense in my mind because we used to do this when the kiddos were little, but I'm not sure I explained it very well.
Great idea.. We did that over the summer when we went to Arkansas.. I grabbed a bunch of clearanced stuff from the 1.00 spot at target when it was .25. I mean a bag of stuff, and every 45 minutes to hour, I dug out something new to open and play withbounce

just saw your siggy, do you still need similac qs? i have some from the doctor's office. $5 off similac. PM if you need them. heart

Im on the same boat ank. the little guy is still BFing, not sure if it will be the same by Feb but we will be taking a 23hr plane trip and im not looking forward to that one. Our 5yr old will definitely bring his DS and I got him this earphone for it so that he can be occupied but Gavin who's gonna be 6months then is another matter Frown

lol... its gonna be a 24hour trip going back. its gonna be crazy but it will be worth it. DS1 made the same trip when he was 2 and he did great. He slept most of the time in the plane and when he's awake, he had a bag full of toys that kept him occupied.

Last night at Target, I bought some of the RoseArt craft kits, (sand art and sun catchers) and they rang up for $1.25. I think they were tagged $4.99. They were on the same aisle as the Crayola stuff.
