I had an aunt who kept track of how much she saved with coupons by putting the exact amount of money of the coupons she used into a jar and that was her family's vacation fund for the year. Probably not realistic with how much some of us save but something similar would be fun too....then you would be able to tell your friends that you saved so much using coupons that you were able to do ________ or buy ____________. Ya know?

Whatever works for ya basically Smilie
I have a friend who writes all of her checks for the full price and then the coupons are deducted and they hand her cash money. That cash money, collected over a year, paid for everything on a one week long vacation for the entire family the next year, including gas, food, tickets, souvenirs... what ever is left over, goes back in the vacation fund for next year.

One of the ladies that came to my yard sale mentioned that she belonged to a site called couponing to Disney, something like that. I never have placed more of a goal on it than easing our monthly budget. Anything beyond that helps pay for fun things.

I did buy myself the Giada stainless steel set that MFH posted about on the deals thread. I'm so grateful that she did. Big Grin And I'm glad I didn't buy the KitchenAid set last week, that wasn't as nice a set and would have cost more out of pocket. I also picked up some more bakeware stuff though. Wink

And Doh! I bought a few copies of the early Sunday paper, and I didn't check the insert schedule. No coupons for the next two Sundays. Frown

Oh yay I want to hear reviews on the Giada sets!! Did either of you use SS before this or something else?

I'd heard there was a P&G coming soon too. I really need to clip and organize q's so I hope that's all that's coming out soon.

Holy crap it was crazy out there today. Ran into T for 1 item. Lots of great cashiers, they had every single lane open and there were 3-4 people in line at every lane. I just got my 1 item and didn't even bother with a run. WAY too crazy. Tried to go to BBW for my free lotion and the line to pay was out the door.

Just finished assembling DD's kitchen that will come from santa. Took 2 damn hours. You were right tootsie, a biatch to assemble, but beautiful. Glad we started working on this early.

I have a SS set I bought something like 16 years ago at JCPenney, not even sure what brand it is. It's like the Energizer bunny, keeps going and going. Big Grin I need more pans though because that little 2 saucepan/ one stockpot/ one frypan set doesn't work well for a family of 6. Tomorrow's dinner is crockpot chicken so I won't try this out until Monday.

I also bought the 8 qt stockpot/steamer set because I need the larger stockpot as well. It isn't 18/10 stainless like the tri-ply cookware but still a decent pot. Better than the $10 aluminum stockpot I bought at T last year that discolored and burned food on the first use. Frown

This will be my first SS set.. I was using teflon nonstick stuffHide

That is about all I have ever used.. Learning to cook with the SS may be a challenge for me. I did buy a cast iron skillet from amazon a few months ago and have been using it some as well.

I am excited to try to stainless. They are so pretty too Smilie

The crowds were heavy tonight.. But, I love all the holiday cashiers.. It is so nice to have a choice of good cashiers.. Got some more Christmas bags, clearanced plates/napkins.. and of course some "sleepwear"
I did make it to BBW and grabbed a ton of last minute gifts for cheapBig Grin

I am baking some goodies now.. Hoping to go to bed before too late..I didn't get home from work until 4:15 last night.. and my toddler was crying to potty at 5.. needless to say, I was wiped out all day today!

Okay, I remember talking about recipes last year.. I make the pretzels with melted hershey kisses and m&ms.. but I remember someone sharing another very similiar recipe with pretzels and something else.. twix maybe??

I've used Rolos and a peanut M&M. I received some this year that were the red and white Kisses and plain M&M. They were good (if you like mint).

Too tired to snip... laugh out loud

I made the pretzels with Rolos and an M&M in the center.

Surprisingly enough, Kohls and Target were not crazy at all. shake head We didn't get out until around 4 or so, so maybe the crowds were earlier? We were warned to stay away from Wal-Mart and the mall, so we didn't even try those places.

To add another item to everyone's must-have list - I found these awesome slippers at Hallmark called Snoozies. $12, so $2.xx with tax out the door with the $10 coupon. They are so stinking soft, and have the non-slip rubber nubbies on the sole. So cute. Got them for a family we have adopted at the very last minute. Anyway, I am hoping to get out and get myself a pair. Lots of different colors and styles. And they have them for kids, too... So perhaps those looking for gifts for girls who are hard to buy for might want to check them out.

Just found out that my nephew and two nieces are going to be spending Monday-Wednesday with us, which is awesome, but means my shopping time will be severely cut short, if not disappear altogether. So I have to get some major shopping/runs in tomorrow! Off to make lists and clip coupons...

Hi all! New job has me on my feet all day, up and down stairs running. Feels good after being on my butt for the last year! Bad side is, can't keep up with you all!

Not going in to deals thread, you can't make me! Anyone wanna share the story on cookware?

Mailed my SS gift, splurged on Priority Mail, they shouldn't be without a present on Christmas just because I can't get my act together and get to the PO!

Tomorrow, a group of women I know from the community are getting together and making Christmas boxes for 12 families. We each got a family member to specifically buy a gift for, and then fill 2 HUGE boxes full of food for each family. Have been collecting non-perishables all year for this, and they fill the back end of my car (seats six and the back seats are folded down) Lots of Suave shampoo, Chef Boyardee, it was fun! Then a group of guys take the boxes in an unmarked delivery van, and pretend to not have a clue where the 'delivery' came from. Wish we could tape their reactions!

Oh my mom makes those pretzel things they are yummy!! I remember someone saying something about another recipe too......was it perhaps Rolos in the center??? Or was that a recipe I was looking at for my own baking? Roll

I had non-stick Teflon before SS too....never really cared for them as it wasn't long before the coating started coming off....I had picked up a few random SS pans for the ones I used most that had the coating coming off because I just couldn't stand feeding my family off of those. So mine were kind of hodgepodge for awhile before I finally got a whole nice SS set.

Saucepans aren't too hard, biggest thing I read on that was not to turn the burner up past 5ish with SS and that you shouldn't need to.....except maybe just for boiling water. I find boiling water to take waaaaay too long that low so I do turn it up for that. For skillets, I find this [tammysrecipes.com] explanation about the whole hot pan/cold oil (or butter or whatever you use) thing that helps food not to stick, particularly with eggs....if you can do eggs in an SS skillet, you are an SS master laugh out loud This [tammysrecipes.com] blog entry from that same site is really good on the general use of SS too....I think that lady has the exact same set I do if I remember right.

ETA: Flug, they have the Snoozies here too.....I told my mom about them and I think she got a pair for my stocking Wink Yes, she still makes all of us kids stockings! Can't wait to try 'em out!!!!

OK, I filled an entire page of deals at RA this week and my head is spinning. Definitely time to call it a night. nod

And tm4d, glad I'm not the only one that thinks they're cool!! Maybe I'll send hubby there with a coupon and he can get me some... He is stumped as to what to get me and we don't have a lot of money to spend right now.

OT if anyone needs a monitor...

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=271944&t=2489708

Acer 20 inch monitor for $69.98 at Staples. We have this monitor and it's very nice, especially for that price.
