Speaking of DH, havent' bought him anything yet, don't even have a clue. He likes everyone to be surprised, including himself. Um, guess I better get on that today!
Trevor update, he is 8lbs 4 oz. Still not on the growth charts, and at 2 months old, he is still ½ a pound smaller that my first DS! Told him the deal with formula this week at Wags, and sent the $5 liquid coupons. He thinks they can only use powdered, as that is what the Dr said. Silly boy. Get the darn free liquid formula!
Oh, and today is the 2nd anniversary of my Mom joining her parents in heaven. Sigh.
I am the one who thinks we should rent a bus, move in and help her.
She's the one who said that sleeping was difficult tonight.

Be careful with the zicam. That stuff was pulled from the shelves last year because it caused people to lose their sense of smell. I am talking about the one that goes in your nose.
I got the oral mist since I too had read that somewhere....I tell you what, it WORKS though....really my nose is just somewhat stuffy today - sore throat is pretty much gone altogether and it was bad on Sunday night. Definitely gonna keep some of it around as long as I don't read of any adverse effects from the spray!
Ok, here you go. This is the last picture I took with my old camera and the first picture I took with my new one. EXACT same settings on both. Aperture mode, f-stop 2.8, 1600 ISO, custom white balance, no flash, same lens. I can't believe the difference in the quality and how much more light the new camera lets in.

I have orange flavor and zest. So those will have an orange chocolate filling, dipped in choc and probably just a teeny tiny pinch of zest on top, primarily so I can tell them apart...from batch number two.
Remember those instant Nestle packets free from Target? I dissolved two packets in two tablespoons of hot water and used that. So batch number two is chocolate coffee center and I will dip in choc. Then I got to thinking... my daughter isn't nuts about chocolate so....
Batch number 3 uses about 3 tablespoons of French Vanilla cappuccino mix dissolved in hot water made with Nestle's White chips. I will also dip these in the white chips. Those little suckers don't melt nearly as well as chocolate either. I might duste just a bit of the cappuccino mix on these.
The cookie dough is made and in the fridge. I think my daughter wants to help with those and she is sleeping til later this afternoon. And, um, there are two loaves of bread rising.
On the other hand, I don't have the slightest idea what I am fixing for supper. Other than bread.

Melt a bag (14 oz.) of caramels with a couple tablespoons of cream or milk.
Stir in 2 cups of pecan pieces (I used a 5 oz bag that is actually 1 1/2 cups and it's fine)
Drop by teaspoons onto buttered or sprayed waxed paper. Lube it up really, really well, these are sticky. I use butter on my spoons and fingers too.
Let them set up and cool -- fridge is fine too. Then dip in chocolate:
In a double boiler melt together 6 Hershey's Bars + about 1/3 bar of parafin.
I don't think parafin will melt in a microwave but I don't remember for sure. I didn't have any so I just added a couple tablespoons of shortening to my chocolate -- I also used Hershey's Milk Chocolate Chips instead of candy bars simply because I had them. This recipe was before Hershey's made chips. Anyway, they are fine, the chocolate texture is nice and smooth and they are firming up but they are not as shiny pretty as they would be with the parafin.
Truffles are in little ball/blobs re-chilling so I can dip them. And a chicken tender and rice etc. concoction is in the fridge ready to go in the oven later. I don't really like chicken but with those two loaves of bread raising out there, this is a good night to have it.

WHAT do you use on the waxed paper??? I had one heck of a time getting the turtles off of waxed paper last week. Butter?
I used regular milk chocolate chips melted with the turtles and they set up just great and looked pretty good too. I have Hershey's kisses left still and have used some of those for melting and dipping too, could probably just use some more up.
Not too worried about my diet with this darned cold....nothing tastes right but PB M&M's

I dumped my last bowl of white chips they just weren't melting right. I was pretty sure of what they would do if I added a little milk but I tried it anyway. Yep, it gritted up. So, I'm trying it again -- white chips with a little Crisco. This last dozen truffles is a pain in my ass. The centers are soft like a caramel so I am freezing them, hoping they will hold up to the hot/warm dipping in the white stuff. If I can get them damn white chips to cooperate.
I used the same recipe for all 3 centers just changing what I used to flavor it. Kind of weird that it's so different.
