Update on this whole thing. ..
DH mother informed of us of this loss ..turns out it wasn't his Aunt but his cousin that we socialise with and he played with as a child. Was only 55 , just taking comfort that it was in her sleep and hopefully painless. Just don't know why seemingly healthy.I'm just glad we got the update, from dh brother before showing up today , would have been a real shock.
On my brother ,chemo started yesterday, reportedly pretty rough.
Daughter who goes to James Madison U, is home for xmas vac...family pow -wow whether she should skip next semester.That is still to be decided.
The family is deeply grounded in there church and I think that faith is what's holding keeping SIL and kids from falling apart for now.
I cooked until late in the evening for Cousins Hubby,he has meals until the end of the week .
Went from funeral in one state, to brothers in another state to see what was needed there.
SIL , who I luv ,she's my favorite ,is hanging on by a thread.
Will cook all night tonite to so they have meals at least until Friday, so that she and the children can spend their energies and time on my brother. Will run that food to them tomorrow. Then make a schedule for me to run down there and help with the cleaning ,so that isn't a concern for them.

It's times like this I wish I had gone into the medical field , and didn't have to feel so d****helpless.
I do what I can ,but it just doesn't feel like enough....
FYI stopped by target today, picked up some candy for funeral luncheon at 50% off still.

also, i know this is tough to do and easier to say cos this is your brother, but try to pace yourself. they're going to need you for many months and he will need you too. i have had people very dear to me face unexpected and major health challenges out of the blue: it is emotionally and physically grueling. and in the beginning we go in all guns blazing and then as months go by we get spiritually and psychologically and physically worn out some. turns out that's when the patient needs us the most because they are worn out, too. so try if you can help it, try not to do all-nighters, and try to keep some semblance of your original sleep/rest/meals/family routine. you'll need it.
