oh and my stockpile is like that sometimes too. I got all those General Changs Chicken dinners - that I LOVE - but could NOT find a deal on rice anywhere, still haven't yet. I have a billion cans of tuna but no tuna helper or Mayo, although I am good on the pasta and sauce right now.

For the rice, have you tried the deal at RA? Not sure if you're particular about your rice or not, but supposedly there's a bag of white rice for 1.xx and then it produces a $1 Up. Also brown rice for a little more (but still under $2) and produces a $1 Up.

And Nathans garage -- gotta admit, that's a nice looking stockpile. But, vehicles are expensive. I think I would rather be protecting my van than some shampoo and noodles. It makes me cranky if I have to let my van sit out.

I think we are going to fly into los angeles. Any good hotel recommendations?
If you're not going with kids, I'd stay away from the "kid" attractions (d-land, universal, etc, etc). The beach cities are really nice (Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, etc), but it will be cooler there than in the inland areas (maybe in the 60s during the day, but check the weather reports). Malibu has beautiful scenery for a drive, Santa Monica has great shopping, Venice Beach is funky and has lots of funky places to discover, the OC beach cities (MB, NB, LB, etc) are very pretty and upscale.
If you have an idea of some specific types of things you'd like to do, I can try to make suggestions.
