jteef is right though, the overage items at the commissary go fast. I could walk the aisles and guess what items have an overage coupon. laugh out loud The commissary here is inconvenient for me to shop at but I will make the trip for really good deals, like when they had the Schick razors for $4, before the $4 Facebook mq expired.

Yeah there are some wonderful people there! I've had to go to the commissary thread for advice because of misinformed coupon haters at the Quantico commissary. If you think some T stores are bad, the commissary puts them to shame. Frown
EEK!

I seriously don't evah want to see that, can't imagine

bunnies, did you get me any peek a boo bras? Evil

you guys think i'd be banned if I changed my SD name to (.) (.) ? Evil it's the meds talking, it's the meds talking, i promise. i'm sweet as pie normally... Evil

ank, while bunnies was busy thinking of our boobages, i was contemplating your DH's gastric tract. yep. no seriously, watched a Dr. Oz segment ( a doc i really really respect for his intelligence and common-sense, non-invasive, non-over medication advice) where he was talking about reflux. he showed how our stomachs have a narrow section up top that is designed to close shut/constrict to keep gastric juices from escaping. but reflux happens when the gastric juices keep hitting that area of the stomach and get it inflamed, so the opening doesn't close, thus allowing juices to go up the eosophagus while we're sleeping. if it get a few days break the skin can heal itself and you're good, but if the acid keeps hitting it'll get irritated.
he said over taking antacids constantly is actually worse for you cos it doesn't let you feel the pain and doesn't alert your body to the problem and long run you end up with more damage.
his advice:
1) for temporary relief, instead of antaacids, try drinking aloe vera juice/extract. it will coat the damaged areas, much like putting aloe on sunburns does, and will speed healing. plus it doesn't harm.
2) loosen your pants/belt buckle guys and women, ease up on wearing spanx. the tightness actually puts pressure on your stomach and causes it to release more acid.
3) avoid alcohol.
4) elevate the bed. not with pillows but the bed itself. he said to take wood or cinder blocks and put them under the head area of the bed so that section of the bed is slightly elevated leaving you sleeping on a bit of a downward slope. keeps acid from rising up.

one more thing: couple of people in my family developed bad gastritis decades ago, long before there was nexium or prilosec or prevacid etc. and they had major reflux where they could actually taste the acid. the doc's remedy? cold milk, quarter cup to half cup every half hour to hour. just a few small sips at a time. the milk coat's the tummy lining and gives something for the acid to work on. it worked for each of them, healing them. there's also an amazing homeopathic remedy: iris ver 30c. 4-5 sugar pills a few times a day. takes away all the heartburn and reflux.

gt, veggies: i used to like broccoli once upon a time. these days i hate it. don't like taste or smell. and it really irritates my tummy. but i was at store and found broccolini. softer, with a very mild flavor. tastes like a cross between greens and cauliflower. somewhat sweet. like it. a lot. ate it steamed. look for it in your stores.
cauliflower - if you can eat that, I made mashed cauliflower for thanksgiving. yummy. tastes just like mashed potatoes. family couldn't tell difference. but far lower in carbs. can use buttermilk instead of milk if you like it saltier/piquant tastiing, too. awesome with some grated parmesan.

dieting folks... i have found one doesn't have to make some big painful diet commitment to lose weight. just change one small thing each day and you'll be well on your way. so for example, portion control... try to cut back on portions of high calorie foods by just 2-3 tablespoons (3 tablespoons less of mashed potatoes or rice or a cup less of juice or whatever) and substitute with something lower in calories/healthier so you still feel full. you'll see the difference shortly. a mentor of mine in his 60s, lost 35 pounds over one summer by just practicing portion control and filling his plate 10% less plus vowing to play some golf 2-3 days a week. the walking and calorie cut back was enough. he had fun and could do it mindlessly without making big changes to what he enjoyed.
or do something simple like if you eat pizza 3 days a week, substiute a sandwich or salad for one of those meals. or maybe if you eat subway sandwiches make it a wrap a few days a week. they will make any sandwich a wrap. they're half the calories but you still get the sandwich taste/feeling/convenience. or leave the whipped cream out of your latte twice a week. something small. it adds up. and it will be a gift to yourself each day. like TN's grilled chicken. that's a gift she's giving herself everyday. kudos TN and all of you consciously working on eating better/losing weight, thanks for inspiring the rest of us! hug

in the past 3 weeks since the accident i have lost atleast a dress size. maybe two. my belly, chest area are so swollen from the accident i look pregnant but i can fit into my regular clothes now. and even still my family commented on me looking significantly leaner. didn't realize it until now. it's just from eating less. i've been in pain so not eating much. plus sedentary. but still lost weight just from portion cutback. worth a try. it's simple enough for any to do - make one small change! you'll be glad you did!

ok, now that i've covered boobs and bellies, there's only one place to go from there. KY land. Coverlaugh 2 obgyns have told me that KY is the best there is in lubricants cos it is water based, and isn't loaded with artificial chemicals and fragrances. good for you. so jteef, me thinks you should use those tubes as gift packs for friends - secret easter, secret santa, secret valentine, secret fourth of july, not so secret buddy, whatvever. or offer them up on SD for the cost of mailing etc, so you don't incur a loss sending them out to friends. but also aren't violating the ethics of getting them for overage at the commissary. and save some for yourself. never know what life will bring along. Evil

hugs all! and happy weekend. me and my free agent girls are going to attempt restless sleep yet again.

Wave morning.

I know all the grocers will be slammed today (it was pretty bad yesterday afternoon). We have the threat of snow and worse, ICE, headed this way. Thought I'd get a run on it early, as my 2nd oldest niece has a BB game at 1 our time (I watch it online). Hope to be home and done by then.

Good Morning!

I went to sleep after my last post. I think it was around 10:00 PM and I slept until 8:00 AM. I think I am coming down with something. I have a slightly runny nose, but no other symptoms, except being tired. I usually only average 6 hours of interrupted sleep each night.

Thank you!

To add to this discussion, you can also buy the $25 or $50 Amazon Kindle GCs (back in electronics above the Kindles), with no activation fees, and it just adds it to your account as if it were a regular Amazon GC. Wink
Thank you for this! I never knew this but chances are my stores don't sell them anyway.

OK bunnies, just for you Wink

Now I have a good excuse not to spend time looking laugh out loud

ETA: Have those of you who like the less-strong k-cups tried any of the Wolfgang Puck ones as a basic coffee?? I tried Rodeo Drive this AM and it was much less strong than what I am used to....in a good way though - took me MUCH less creamer/cream to get it to a satisfactory taste which = less WW pts. Smilie He has some flavored ones too I think. It was still a really good coffee IMO just a lighter brew/not as strong.

It's official. My stores don't carry the individual servings of Planters Nuts. I finally asked a Red to look them up. Nada. They've replaced them here with individual servings of Archer Farm nuts.

I thought I was nuts or something, as I've crawled all over 2 stores looking for these. I guess the exercise was good for me.

Oh well, free Planters Trail Mix at Publix this week, with these Qs.

I haven't seen them in my super target either.. Did see them in a regular T, but they definitely aren't with the nuts at the ST.. forgot to check by the register.. I love those small packs too..

I am gonna try to get some trail mix at publix.. but, I really just like the nuts in it, not all the sweet stuff. I end up picking things out laugh out loud

Slept in this morning.. did a few things around the house.. Now, I am gathering my stuff for a shopping trip tonight.. Hopefully alone Smilie

Cooking question... I am not a wonderful cook, I will admit. I am very basic.. My DH has been happy with it for 20 years Wink Anyway, I can never make good steaks at home.. I really only eat them if we go out.. Mine always seem tough and don't have much flavor.. It is too darn cold to go out and grill them. I have 2 packs I got from target when they were marked down. They are cheaper cuts of meat, which I know makes them a little tougher too.. Can someone give me some ideas about how to cook them inside where they aren't so tough.. I am a crockpot lover and in the past, I have just taken to cheap cuts and put them in the crockpot on low all day until they are falling apart and add a little gravy and serve it over rice..
