We have 2 kids, my DD from my first marriage is 16, and my DS will be 4 in about a week. DH and I fought for a long time about having a second child...neither of us wanted more when we got together, and I changed my mind. He didn't. After a couple of heated arguments and me moving out, we agreed on one more. Then my little man took 3 years to create. :thud:
Had complications during pregnancy and my Dr. asked if it was ok to do a tubal during my C-section because my uterus ruptured. Figured since I had promised DH I only wanted one more, it was smart to have the tubal done then so I didn't go back on my word later.
L2BAM, I know what you mean - I was just thinking yesterday that in a year and a half from where DD is now, I was pregnant with her!
Sending many many hugs!!

Truth be told, I'm struggling with Wyatt's fourth birthday coming up. Just doesn't seem like it's possible that they grow so fast!

For a few years we/hubby operated a construction business. Small, just him and he tried to do mostly small renovations and little odds and ends that you can't find someone to do -- like put up a ceiling fan. So, I did all the material and cost estimating, billing, and bookkeeping, taxes, etc. for that. Then it was make a decision -- specialize or hire help and about the same time the neighbor guy told him about an opening in the signal department at the railroad -- hubby likes to play with electricity. So here we are.
There has been a time or two when I have said I stay at home that you see the look. You know the look -- "oh how dumb you must be, too bad you couldn't get a real job". My husband has just looked at them and informed them that my job is taking care of him and it's a very difficult job.
Oh, degree -- Business Administration.
Let me tell ya about her. She pretty much told her husband she was doing this for a year or two and she would see from there. Then it was for grade school and she would decide again.
Then we decided to start a home school group in our area. It was excellent. The best field trips ever. Plus we held an informational meeting, we were available for other new people if they had questions, etc. Then I moved away and she took over.
In the meantime her husband was still opposed so she had no help and absolutely no support. She got crap from her older boys . She hung in there. Got the little girl through grade school at home, then junior high. She grew that HS group. They started having an annual talent show and Christmas program.
A couple years ago her daughter graduated from high school -- completely home schooled and is now in college.
So, if you want to do it. Don't doubt yourself. Dive in and go for it. You don't have to commit to it forever. Make the choice one year at a time. You are home schooling now -- aren't you the one teaching her to do everything? Who will teach her her colors, shapes, numbers, letters, manners, how to talk, where to go potty, how to eat with a spoon? That be you, Dearie. You are doing it now.
The amount of material out there is amazing. You can go anywhere from creating everything yourself -- maybe not the best option for you -- to stuff that is laid out in daily lesson plans to somewhere in between. There are a lot of easy ways to organize and stay on track without it being overwhelming. And, part of the beauty of hsing is that you can work at your own pace how and when it works best for all of you.
ETA: TM4D, this isn't directed, just at you. I hear often people who wanted to hs but didn't because they thought they weren't competent. I just want others to know, you can do it if you really want to. You don't have to be Einstein or Wonder Woman.
So, we rented our house instead of selling it. That was nearly 14 years ago. We still have the same renter. She pays her rent on time and doesn't bug me. (And we have decided we won't move back there. Ever. Go figure)
I am curious... IRL what does everyone do? What do you have a degree in? Just a conversation starter I guess as that is something I have been thinking ALOT about lately.. is in the end what do I wanna get done...
I'm a CEO at a non-profit. But, a super small nonprofit. Which in some ways is nice...I can sing and talk to myself and no one thinks I'm too crazy - because I'm usually the only one here. But, it is hard to in that there is SO MUCH work to do. I have to be a "jack-of-all-trades" type when I really just want to focus on what I'm good at. With three kids what I really need is a part-time job. But, in the end I do LOVE my job. What I do makes a difference in our community and it is kinda like the show Cheers - everyone knows my name here. But, I am stressed out more often than not because I can't get it all done. My DH is not a helpful person...very selfcentered. So, I do all the responsibility at home and still manage work. I coupon shop for a stress release and to give to others.
Degrees? I have a Masters in Public Administration. Thought I'd do nursing home administration, but after getting my license and working in the field for about a year decided it was just too depressing. That is one area of our society that needs a lot of change and attention. I love older people and the way our society treats them is just not right....stepping off soapbox.
Ok - you guys now know more about me than you ever wanted to!
Energy or no energy - you are creating something amazing! I'm jealous! Hugs!
His first job was a kitchen assistant in a nursing home, then CNA and he also thought nursing home administration and ownership was what he wanted to do.
Of course, he waited to take some of the classes until AFTER he had a BA in political science. He had done that earlier he could have finished it by the time he was 17 or 18. (He started college way early, AA at 17, BA at 19). Then he changed his mind and just stuck with the MPA.

Seriously - we might be one and the same except I'm about 15+ years older. I have a BA in Political Science. Ugh - that wasn't a fun degree to get. What is he going to do with his MPA. He needs to choose wisely and get a good internship...you can do a lot with an MPA - some are good supportive career choices...others not so much.
I run a philanthropic foundation and really do LOVE it. I still not quite sure how I got here, but I'd recommend it to anyone who isn't afraid of a little work (mental work that is).
They changed their degree a little. It's now a Masters in Public Policy and Administration. He will also have a graduate certificate in Public Management, I believe. I don't know what he is going to do with it all. He likes and is leaning more toward the political arena.
He is doing an internship now for a political party. He did election stuff earlier (grunt work) now he is doing writing -- letters to the editor, etc.
