Should women stay in the kitchen where they belong?

24,836 1,948 May 31, 2006 at 12:24 PM in Question
Women - do you cook as well as your mother/mother-in-law ... did they cook as well as their mothers? ...or course not...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think once women were allowed this whole 'equal rights thing' it signaled the downfall of our civilization. Higher divorce rates, higher teenage pregancies, obesity (since we have to eat out more), the ozone layer (that may be a stretch), etc. Let's get America back on track and the women back into the kitchen where they belong!

forget that. How's your hubby's health?

edit: to clarify, I am asking about HG's hubby, not BE's hubby.

You have just been elevated several levels in my happy friend list. heart

My husband works just about every day. One or two days off here and there, but for the most part he's at work from 9-7 M-F and 8-2 S/S Sometimes he has to go back on the weekends in the evenings to care for the animals boarding over the weekend. On those rare days off he's ready to poke his eyes out at the end of the day because the boys keep us soooo busy. Just last weekend he got to experience my oldest son's new hobby - removing his diaper at naptime and decorating his room. vomit

Do I keep the house clean? As clean as I can with a 2 1/2 yr old and a 7 month old to raise. I don't want my son to remember his childhood of me saying "No I can't play with you baby, I have to mop this floor until it sparkles."

Do I cook? Damn skippy. (note to FTM - also on my happy friend list - "Don't Panic! Dinner's in the Freezer!" is a fantastic book!)

Do I have awesome kids? You betcha.

Does my husband help out at home? If he wants any r&r time with me, he does.

And let it be known that the term "Trashday Eve" will now be in use in my house, too. laugh out loud

I think the woman's place is in the home, if at all possible. Sometimes financially that doesn't work for a family. You do what you can and love your kids to bits no matter what.

is that book the one where you cook for a day and freeze it all? I would love to do that but my freezer is SO tiny...and no room for another freezer.(small house...."starter house" as hubby called it...haven't moved out yetRanting)
I cook too...but I don't spend all my time in the kitchen. I do easy meals that satisfy yet are fast and simple. there are so many options! Like tonight was a really easy night...mac and cheese and sausage. Tomorrow is pork chops probably...not sure yet.

I love being in the kitchen, but I definately belong outdoors. Why are only women expected to take care of the family? It takes two to tango..

I LOVE to cook. My sweetie and I cook most of our meals together. But I do it because I want to, not because I have to.
