Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Waiting for my printer tomorrow!! It was too funny, since the scissors I had to buy to get the rebate came today in a huge box!! Nice scissors though, wish I would have gotten a few more pair!!

Doesn't it disgust you when a box is 95% air? I've gotten a box before from Amazon that was 2x2x1ft, and it had stuff in it that would have fit in a small Priority Flat Rate box (barely larger than a video cassette tape, for the oldsters that remember what those are ;-)

I got a T-Shirt as an instant prize on this. They didn't ask me what size, just said they'd send it. I don't wear T-Shirts. Hope it's a size my sister can wear. OR -- I can use it as a quilt block if I win the quilt contest. OR -- I can use as a cover for my baby netbook when it gets cold. OR -- I can wrap it around my head to cut down on cranial damage when I bang my head against the wall because the netbook STILL hasn't shown up by Halloween. Hopefullly it won't get to that!! The head banging thing, I mean!! You sound like a true quilter, will you please post a few of your works!! I love quilted art, but can't do it myself. I am truly interested though, if you have any pieces to share with us!

I know, its awesome. Before I would be on a page and it would say enter the contest on the edge of the page and that was how I would find a lot of them. I always click for them to let me know when they are having another contest that way they email me but I spend less time weeding thru the ones I dont want this way

I only make quilts when a niece or a nephew's wife has a baby. I transfer family pictures -- from both the maternal and paternal sides -- onto fabric then design a quilt around them. I write up an explanation for each picture and send it along with the quilt. The first one I made was supposed to be a crib size, but I had so many wonderful photos, it ended up big enough for a double bed. The rest have followed with the same size. I've transferred photos from the 1800's up to 2010. All the new mothers are thrilled with them, even if it's the second or third they've gotten. Most of them hang them on a wall in the baby's room.

I never "learned" how to quilt, I just read about a transfer medium for pictures and thought it sounded like a great way to welcome a new member to the family. I make up the pattern for the blocks and start sewing. Wonderful therapy work. If have some pictures of kids sitting on their quilts, but I'm not certain where I stashed them. If I come across any, I'll post them.
