Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

To tell the truth, I didn't realize they were filled with protein. Squirrels eat a lot of things, and I just figured antlers were one of them. EEK!

And you never questioned them about it? You see squirrels munching on antlers and never asked, "Why you eating pointy things, Mr. Squirrel?" My cats are very interested in what squirrels do but there's always a window between them.

how long ago did your husband get out of the army? my son just ended his time in sept with the marine corp. he is messed up between his shoulders, knees and his hips. he is filing for disability. he was deployed to iraq and he is now able to file for college and housing. I dont know if you are still by the base, but the military is hiring out more and more jobs that the military did. even the mps are civilians. look into maybe working on base, does he know anyone on base that could help him. I know there are many orgainzations involved with the military that help the families. what about unemployment? I dont mean to ask to many personal questions, just trying to give some ideas. I'm sure you have covered them all. just trying to help out. its a shame he worked for his country and was injured, now has to go thru all this. it is not right. how about calling your representives to see if there is anything available you may have missed??

Look into talking to the VA. My brother came back from Iraq in 2004 with major PTSD with psychosis (he seen alot of horrible things happen while he was there) and the VA determined he was eligible for 800 bucks a month for Veterns Benefits. They have more than that that they can do for you, you just have to ask. They will even back pay you.

I am surprised the state doen't offer you more help. I know someone here in Nebraska who has two kids and a husband on disability who gets $690 in foodstamps.

There are also several nonprofits whose sole goal is to prevent homelessness in veterans and their families. A lot of these are in decent-sized cities, but one of them may help you get back on your feet.

Other resources you may try to consider are food banks -- there are several across the country that let you "shop" with your food stamp money, and you can get several times more than what you would be able to at a grocery store.

Check out angel food ministries and see if they have any sites near you. They sell good quality, frozen, fresh, and packaged food bundles aimed at feeding a family of 4 for a week for very little money. They are also no-questions asked as far as eligibility goes. My roommates and I in college would use them for the months in which we needed a little extra to get by.
