Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Received the camera yesterday (would have been Friday but didn't hear the doorbell). Love it!!!! Is the 1300, and the nicest camera I've ever had. Smilie
Thanks to all of you guys, I was a part of you here you just didn't know it, lol. You all had the answers or were on the right track before I even woke up! Next time I'll pipe up anyway. Still waiting on boots from previous contest (est. shipping April 20) and of course, the netbook.
Question: will I be able to download the camera pics to the netbook since it doesn't have a cd drive to install the software?

You must be on the west coast. I used to live in Sarasota. Voted top 10 beaches in the world because of the beautiful white fluffy sand. West coast seemed to be brown and sandbox type stuff. I miss Fla. So far we got 8" in 5 hours!! and now tomorrow is supposed to get down to -8*!!! Havent even checked on the windchill on that one will be yet!!

so I called Lucchese, they tell me April 20th. Maybe. Then I thought I heard them laughing in the background.

Figuring I'm on a roll, I called Marlboro. My netbook hasn't shipped, they're on back order (two of the most evil words) and something about 14-16 years it might ship.

And I think before I hung up they said something about anything I win in the Snus Challenge won't ship until 2013 (that's just extended time for me).

Yes... once you connect the camera via usb, Windows 7 will automatically install the driver needed to recognize the camera and you will be able to view the folders/pics. As for the rest of the software on the cd you might want to install (editing programs, etc), I am guessing you should also be able to download it somewhere from the canon website. (Although, I would personally try to keep the Netbook as program free as possible).

Probably have to transfer the files to a flash drive. Someone who knows more about netbooks will have to tell you if its possible but that seems like a work around to me.

If you are on a network, you could share an existing CD.

The other option is to buy a portable USB DVD/CD drive for around $35. Someone here will probably find a better deal than that woot

Yes, you can connect the camera through the USB to copy files, but this won't give you the image editing software that comes with the camera.

I couldnt pull the pictures off the camera until I installed from the disk. I could look at them but that was all. Might just be the way my pc is set up though.

Really? It wouldn't let you do a copy/paste of the actual picture files from the camera folder to your desktop (or wherever) via usb cable? Weird!

Thank you and appreciate the advice to keep the netbook as program free as possible, sounds like a good idea.

Ah yeah, you are correct... you would have to manually select the pics IN the camera folder and then copy/paste them manually somewhere on the pc.
